Nothing here (wasn't really expecting to get one the day after I was marked complete).

If you think about it, they've only given out a small fraction of the total Interview invites. Better luck to us next time! :luck:

Nope nothing here either. Ah well, no news is better than bad news 😛

Anyone out of state get an interview invite? Or if they send it without submitting the primary?

Interview!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! One of my top reaches I'm in total shock. I'm OOS/3.8gpa/33 mcat. Non-traditional student. This is awesome! GO BLUE!!!!!!!

9/6. Not superstitious, but still didn't want to interview on Friday the 13th lol

II too! OOS 37S 3.98 sGPA 3.98 cGPA, interviewing on Sept. 6th

For those of you who got interview invites, when did you submit your secondaries? Does Michigan review applications chronologically?

Can someone who's been on a previous interview with Michigan please tell me what day is good to fly in and leave? I'm assuming flying in on Thursday afternoon and leaving on Saturday will be fine? Thanks.

so if we've applied and haven't received an interview request are we essentially out of luck? will they just send invites out to the applicants who applied past todays initial interview invite date?

They only sent out about 42 invites today (I got this from UMich Med Adcom's twitter feed). They're looking to interview 575 applicants (300 OOS, 275 IS) and will be sending out invites every Tues at 10:10 am and Thurs at 3:33 pm.

Soooooo there's still hope!

Interview invite! OOS! 3.54/31!

That gives me hope! Wanted to apply here but have resisted because of my MCAT (same score as you); might apply after all, then. 🙂

Good luck to you!!

That will be fine. You only have to be there till like 5 at the latest on Friday.

The invite was first posted via secondary portal @ 3:33 pm. An email saying "Congratulations! Join us for interview day" was sent @ 5pm.

FYI, I got an interview without sending in my secondary.

i wonder how they go about reviewing applications. do you think they go in order of receipt or by stat, or what? i submitted July 2, have good stats although I'm oos, but still no word. i can't help but wonder if I've been passed over...

I am worrying likewise. 38/4.0/OOS, submitted July 1st. I am thinking that if I dont hear anything regarding an II from them next week, I probably won't for a long time, if ever.

Of course you've been passed over, Capt Sisko. No worries. You had better get used to it, it's going to be a LONG cycle.

Just because you weren't included in the very first batch doesn't really mean you won't get in. Those 42 invited applicants were not only super early, but are also real superstars. Besides, you may get love at another school.... the process can be very random!

Hang in there 🙂

Thanks! Considering applying here; only have 2 more secondaries to write and kinda considering the "why not/what if".

powerpoint implies that the first interviews place a greater emphasis on gpa than mcat, at least for oos. the lowest gpa for an oos offer is 3.87 while the mcat low is 29. the person with the 43 was not offered one yet.

thanks entadus 🙂

Yep in addition, there were only 23 OOS interviews with 800 OOS apps since UMICH sends an interview invite without the secondary. I am sure more interview invites are to come for the 800 OOS people. Anyway its way to early in the cycle, so anything said is mere speculation.

I submitted my secondary on 7/10. I don't know about reviewing chronologically but once I received the interview, my status page updated and said something to the effect of "be sure to submit your secondary two weeks prior to the interview" so my guess is that most people (if not all) are offered interviews based on the merits of their primary application.

Fascinating. So you basically have to have an awesome primary first; the secondary seems like just extra info for them to get to know you.

A quick question.

In one of secondary essays, "Tell us something you are passionate about and why," I just realized that my answer sounded much more like public health, rather than medicine. I totally forgot to mention how my future medical training will complement my passion. I have no idea why this thought didn't come across my mind when I proofread last week.

I already submitted my secondary, and did I just kill my chance? Or would the adcom view my essay purely as "What's your passion? I just want to hear it" rather than "What's your passion and how the medical training will come into play?"

my best friend just got an interview invite here and he hasn't even submitted his secondary....that's pretty much an acceptance. (happy for him..yet jealous)

I hope they look at everything ... Cause I'm praying that my secondary pushes to get an interview ...

I hope it's just passion and they want to know about it. Cause I talked about cooking.

In the same boat here.

31/3.8/OOS, wasn't expecting an invite anyways, but was still hoping for the best.. Sigh...

👍 Hahah, UMichigan seems so chill; that's how I answered it too.
