Hi! Anybody who attended an interview: What time did your interview day end?

Anybody who used the SLC airport: How early should I arrive for my flight?

Booking flights... and I really want to book a 5pm flight and the interview day officially ends after the 1-2:30p time slot IF I have a third interview in the afternoon (I suspect that this is a generous time slot). Since the airport is so close to U of Utah, I really think that the time between 2-5p is a good amount to get through security and onto a plane.

I live in Salt Lake City. if you leave UofU at 3pm, you have enough time to get through security and onto a plane.

Tip: at the salt lake airport you can go through the international terminal all the way at the end to go through security. It has a much shorter line than the main security line so if you are cutting it close time wise this would speed up your departure

The past few times I've been at the airport, it's been closed. Try it, but the second line is usually faster from my experience.

Interviewing Jan 13! Can't wait! Where is everyone staying at? Anything fun to do on a Sunday?

If you're a brunch person, two really good brunch places I ate at while I was there were Eggs in the City and Wild Grape Bistro. They're not super close to campus so you'd need transportation. Wild Grape is a little more expensive but they're both pretty delicious.

@Nmarchib Thanks! I will try those places!

For those interviewing Jan 13, how are you all getting to the school from SLC Airport? I am booking my flight at 5:05, but we end the day at 2:30. Is that enough time to catch a taxi back to the airport? Did anyone end earlier?

Sorry, but when did you submit your secondary? I submitted mine in the beginning of December, so I'm just wondering when to expect to hear back.

Submitted back in late Oct i think.

I'll be declining my interview to Utah. What would be the best way to do this? Hope the II goes to someone on here!

I would say just call the admissions office and inform them that you would like to cancel your interview. Seems like it is best to do those type of things via a conversation rather than via an email. Just IMO though

How long does Utah do interviews? Do they drag them out all the way till April? When is the latest date?

Just cancelled my interview. I hope one of you gets a call to interview this Monday, January 13th!

Hey!
First time posting on these forums, but I've been keeping my eye on all of the threads of the schools I applied to for a while now, haha..
Just got my II today, secondary completed 12/20.

When I was picking dates to schedule, they said any M, Th, F from Feb 10 on until early March. They don't block out dates that are full on their calendar though. Good luck!

时间没到。 February will melt into March soon enough. Hold your horses.

The remainder of acceptances will be sent out towards the end of March as will the rejections and wait list notifications.

My interview is in February. I am so nervous! This is my number one choice. Any tips for interview day?

In my experience, the interviews were completely focused on my application. Interviewers wanted to know about the activities/experiences I'd listed in my application, so make sure that you can speak to those things. These interviewers don't know your MCAT or GPA so don't stress over those at all.

I found the whole experience to be an incredibly comfortable one. Just relax, be yourself, and good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Interviewed Jan 13th, went fantastic, really feel like I did well in all 3 interviews. I am very hopeful/anxious waiting for that phone call.

I have an interview next week. Is there any advise from the people who have had interview? Any off the wall interview questions?

I feel like Utah makes sure their interviewers don't ask weird, off the wall questions. They had really standard questions for me like why medicine, what specialty, why Utah, tell me about your research, etc.

Any more decisions? I think there was only one person so far with an "early" acceptance.

Rejected today post-interview. Good Luck to everyone still in the running.

I interviewed back in December, and am very very anxiously awaiting the word. I'm OOS, though I had spent some time at U of U, and really like the atmosphere. Fingers crossed. Good luck to everybody else as well.

Here's an addendum to my previous comment (from the U's SOM FAQ webpage):

"Notifications are sent via email no later than March 31st. If you have not received an email, please contact the Office of Admissions at [email protected] to request the status of your application."

I got a rejection email today at 3 AM, post-interview. Pretty surprised but I guess it is better than waiting for months before finding this out. Oh well.

Sorry to hear mate :sorry: This seems uncharacteristic for the U's admissions process to be sending out emails in February. It's got me a bit apprehensive to check my emails now.

Have a bunch of friends that applied to the U that got rejected this weekend as well so it looks like they've started making some pretty good sized cuts already.

I was asked "how many golf balls can you fit in a school bus?". I was only asked 3 questions during that interview and he was completely serious.

What was your response? That is indeed a random question

Nah, it's okay. I was a little disappointed, but mostly just surprised because I have barely heard of anyone being rejected post interview before March. Still, having been accepted elsewhere certainly softened the blow. I just figured folks on here would like to know that they made it through a round of cuts, which I would count as good news. Good luck guys!

I think I said 1 million, give or take a million. He then pulled out his phone and opened a calculator app and told me to calculate it.
I started by estimating the size of a golf ball, and then the size of the bus...
I finally arrived at some number and he told me that I overestimated because I failed to account for the space the seats took up.

How many is a bunch? 3 or 50? Ha

I have few friends that got rejected as well. Good luck to those who haven't heard back!
