After an interview, does anyone get rejected outright, i.e. without being placed on the alternate list/wait list first?

Good luck! Hope you hear good news tomorrow (today). 👍🙂I can't sleep! I'm so nervous about that email tomorrow.
Did other people who interviewed in the last month or so get an email pushing the offer day back to tomorrow? Ahhhh, so much anxiety 🙁 🙁
Yep got that email earlier this morning. Really got us on pins and needles. This is the second time that Wayne being closed affected me; my interview got delayed a week earlier this month due to the school being closed too.Did other people who interviewed in the last month or so get an email pushing the offer day back to tomorrow? Now that I have to wait until tomorrow, I can only imagine what might happen if they release the decision while I'm TAing a lab
Me neither, but judging from the recent posts, we're going to have to wait another day for a response.I didn't get any email this morning...hmm...
I spend too much time on these forums...recognize your username from pm101.
Couldn't believe it when I got that email...Apparently they REALLY need that extra day
Haha, I literally LIVE on Pm101 😛
Probably helps that I also have the identical Avatar avatar on both forums
Welcome to the alternate list party, where all the cool pre-meds hang out. Really sorry to hear it, but you are in good company. Been on the alternate list for 2 months now. However, per last years thread, lots of waitlist movement later in cycle. Keep up your hope. Best wishes.Just got the email. Alternate list. =(
I got the following email about being continued on the waitlist:Does anyone happen to know if you'll get an update on your application (whether you've been accepted, rejected, or remain on the alternate list) at the next decision date or do they not tell you anything unless your status changes?
I got the following email about being continued on the waitlist:
Thank you for your patience as we were delayed due to the inclement weather closure at the university. Decisions have been made for January and there has been no change to your application. The next round of offers is expected on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
I think they send you an update at the next cycle even if nothing changes. Hope you guys all get in next decision date. There's still lots more to happen in this cycle. You waited this long. You can do it!Does anyone happen to know if you'll get an update on your application (whether you've been accepted, rejected, or remain on the alternate list) at the next decision date or do they not tell you anything unless your status changes?
Savac, if even you with your impressive stats (3.99 GPA and 37 MCAT if I recall) were placed on the alternate list, then that confirms my suspicion that (subject to very rare exceptions) Canadians who interview are automatically placed on the alternate list.Alternate list 🙁
Yeah, it's weird that we haven't heard of any acceptances yet (at least on SDN here). Somebody had to have been accepted!I almost get the feeling that they just effectively delayed everyone's decision by putting everyone on this release date on the alternate list.
Yeah, those stats are correct. I think it would be strange if they place every single Canadian on the alternate list though. Maybe it's because they assume that I'm less likely to accept?Savac, if even you with your impressive stats (3.99 GPA and 37 MCAT if I recall) were placed on the alternate list, then that confirms my suspicion that (subject to very rare exceptions) Canadians who interview are automatically placed on the alternate list.

I like your explanation though! I thought my interview went fairly well, but it seems like it wasn't good enough for an acceptance right away. C'est la vie.
Edit: Sorry to poke a hole in your theory, but I know some Canadians that are accepted
I can't guarantee anything unfortunately. All I know is that she is currently holding an acceptance.Savac, I only heard of one Canadian who was taken outright without being alternate listed first and without being a reapplicant - guptash5 is his/her name. Are you sure the Canadians you know weren't reapplicants or weren't waitlisted briefly first?
I also considered TheThirdLevel's idea that perhaps they didn't have time to make any decisions this month and just automatically put everyone (not just Canadians) on the alternate list. That is looking increasingly likely considering how quick people are to proudly proclaim their acceptances to the world.
Do you know when (i.e in what month and year) she was accepted?I can't guarantee anything unfortunately. All I know is that she is currently holding an acceptance.
I suppose that means that your theory is still alive
Ok, good to know. Although, with stats that high, the issue is almost moot.As a Canadian (3.96, 38), I was accepted outright back in October. I'm also not a reapplicant.
my secondary essays must've been really crappy.
(absolute silence since first week of September)
Anybody know if they help pay for anything for OOS interviewees ???
