2014-2015 Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those of you waiting for decisions, the delay is probably due to the snow storm here. MS1 and MS2 classes were cancelled today and I'm sure a lot of the faculty did not show up today either.
Nice username 🙂
I can't wait!!

Any current/future students willing to comment on this school? What do you think? Your thoughts and impressions would be much appreciated!

anyone know what the post-interview acceptance rate is/was last year?

Has anyone stayed at the Howard Johnson Express Inn in the Bronx? It's only a couple miles away from Einstein, but it's also in a sketchy place according to the reviews.

Or are there any hotels near where students live? I'd like to check such an area out if staying in the Bronx is a bad idea.

Could try Airbnb--might be a little less sketchy!

Ahh the Yonkers Howard Johnson.... Honestly it wasn't as bad as i thought. The accommodations were pretty good for a student's budget. However, i had an uber pick my up RIGHT at the door, i didnt feel like wondering too far would be a good idea.

I made the mistake of staying at that Howard Johnson before my interview. It definitely is in somewhat of a sketchy location and is right next to the train tracks (had to move my room to the other side of the building to escape some of the noise). I would strongly recommend NOT staying there before your interview. It may be the cheapest hotel in the area, but at the very least you may get a bad impression of the Bronx (the area around Einstein is definitely nicer than around the Howard Johnson).

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the responses. I'll probably just bite the bullet and stay at the Howard Johnson, unless the Bronx Ramada on Baychester is worth being double the cost!

Don't do it. I stayed at ramada Yonkers. Worst hotel of my interview season but there's a reason the HJ isn't in the hotel list

Man, i live a 40 minute bus ride from the school, I should be making some cash haha. Unfortunately I wouldn't want to torture anyone with my uncomfortable pull out couch pre-interview.

perhaps tonight then? I haven't slept in days lol...

I feel like it should just be the matter of clicking "send" on the e-mails. I mean surely decisions were reached before the weekend..

They might not be done yet. They describe Feb. 1 as the "earliest date" for acceptance letters. That gives them flexibility.

So for those of us who just now interviewed...does anyone know when we can expect to hear back? Even just a vague window? I interviewed yesterday and it was so hectic with weather cancellations and all that that I straight up forgot to ask

I interviewed mid january and they said 8 weeks for us

I'm hoping people who interviewed in december post acceptances on the first day because then i dont think itd take 8 week

For those waiting to hear back, I think it will be very helpful when decisions come out to post your interview date (or any other relevant info such as LizzyM) along with your decision. Otherwise there's going to be a bunch of posts asking "What date did you interview?", "What were your stats?" "IS or OOS?", etc. If you do not wish to disclose any of that then I think you should say in your decision post, "please don't ask about interview date or anything else" so people know not to bother you. Thanks and Good Luck!

Rejected this morning pre interview, kind of expected.
Good luck to everyone in the running!

O no nothing yet 🙁. Hope that isn't bad news. Congrats everyone regardless.
Edit: Seems like no news is bad news based on last years thread... Would of loved to attend.

ACCEPTED! This school is amazing and I loved every minute of my interview day here. So happy right now!

LM > 75 interviewed early Dec 🙂

So is it safe to assume that if we interviewed before November and have not heard back we're rejected?

Just got off the phone with admissions and they told me that a lot of interviews have still yet to be reviewed by the committee (I interviewed 10/27) No news isn't necessarily bad news!
