Does anyone have an idea how many people might be on the high-priority list compared to the regular one?
 
Anyone else hear anything back yet? I take it they are pretty much handing out wl spots at this point?
 
Do we care that Einstein 'dropped' in rank?

Probably due to the YU business perhaps?

Not that it really matters since they usnews can't sell issues if some stuff hasn't moved around haha.

Interesting article about rankings and a specific mention to Einstein:

“Although many top institutions ranked highly in both our model (see Table 3) and the 2014 USN&WR rankings, 5 important differences exist. For example, graduates from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University excelled at obtaining awards and NIH grants, which resulted in a rank of 13 in our analysis as compared with a rank of 34 in USN&WR. The University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine (UCSF) was ranked fourth by USN&WR, in part because the faculty, not the graduates, excelled in securing NIH grants. Our evaluation of UCSF graduates, however, placed the school at 17 because its graduates achieved fewer and lower-impact publications and grants. This finding highlights the important point that the measurement of faculty grants may not reflect the quality of education provided by a given school.”

I'm more concerned with what budget adjustments will be made to account for the annual deficit i.e. global opportunities after first year, housing subsidies, etc.

Hi folks, sorry I've been MIA from these threads and messages for a while, but got caught up with med school life and kinda checked out of SDN for a while.

Regarding this point - to the best of my knowledge (which is a bit more extensive than the average student here) - there will be no immediate changes to travel stipends, medical student life, or any of that. If there are any immediate effects, it would sooner effect the research aspect (ie the graduate program) than the med student program.

However, with the deal having been made with Montefiore, there is even less to worry about. I think the worst has passed, and there's nothing for the med students to worry about.

PS - I'm back on SDN again, so feel free to start tossing any questions about Einstein my way. It's really a great place, and I'm glad to help out in any way 🙂

Between research, classes, and boards - SDN unfortunately had to take a back seat for quite a while. But I'm happy to be back and help out with any questions and insight into any aspect of Einstein life!

Eh please, the U.S. News rankings are ridiculous anyways. New ranking systems actually have Einstein ranked significantly higher (see above)
Regardless, I'm sure next year it'll be back up again. Einstein has a great rep, and it's a great place all around. The deal with Montefiore will only make Einstein a stronger school, with even more opportunities for the students and faculty.

As far as I'm aware, there's been no talk of there being any cuts to the summer research stipends or any of that. So don't worry - I think you made a good choice with Einstein!

Einstein is a really well rounded place. Awesome people with a great social life, great education, great clinical experiences. You'll like it here!
 
This is gonna be the withdrawal that I'll regret for a while, it's a school that I really loved. The most down to earth school I visited and in the top 3 for community feeling. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be, I'm hoping one of the WLers on here get my spot at this awesome place!
 
HPWL email on 4/3 (interviewed 3/16). Sent in a letter of intent immediately in response to the HPWL email. Fingers crossed!
 
Recently got another email asking me if I was still interested in being on the high priority waitlist because there were going to be more acceptances soon. Any idea on when that might be?

Based on previous years we should be accepted very soon (maybe tomorrow since they asked to tell them by Wednesday). I hope so since this is my 1st choice along if aid is strong.

Duke definitely had that feel, Rochester did as well. Those were places where I had the opportunity to see students interacting with each other in a really relaxed manner. Downstate had that relaxed feel, but didn't quite seem as tight knit. Einstein was unique because of how integrated into the Morris Park community it felt.
 
For those receiving "are you still interested?" emails, is it because you have other acceptances?

Yeah they said in their email that they saw we have other acceptances and would like to know if they're still our top choice.

They've already sent some out. No idea if they'll be sending more however...
 
Recently spoke to someone at admissions and was informed that the regular waitlist has very little movement. Not really sure whether I should call in a favor and ask for more letters for Einstein as I'm pretty exhausted with the cycle as far as things go. We'll see what the potential letter writer says.
 
Has anyone else not gotten the "still interested" but also not gotten a decision? I interviewed in mid-February and am anxious to make my final decision!
 
@bloodyhell it seems as if every year they sent HPWL applicants emails asking if they are still interested and then accept them within days. Do you know why this time it is different and is taking so long?

Between this and that match list email, so much toying with my emotions 🙁. Im hoping passover delayed them and we will hear this week.
 
I might just be uninformed, but how do waitlists vs. people without any decisions work? Is it common for people to get off waitlists while others still have no decision after being interviewed? I haven't really seen this situation at any other schools since they finished releasing all decisions a while ago.

Hey, unfortunately there's really no way to definitively answer that. It can really vary every year based on the number of applicants, people who accept the schools offer, etc. Also, admissions in general is one big mystery lol Hopefully they will get back to you soon though!
 
Hi guys, I am interviewing on April 20, very late in the process but hoping to get lucky. For people who were accepted, any tips on how to prepare for the interview? 🙂
 
ineedsleep, I am being completely honest when i tell you that my interview at Einstein was very straightforward and conversational. No specific questions on ethics or stress management or weaknesses. Very simple where were you born, how was life growing up, what do you like to read and watch and do day to day. Know yourself and relax.
Might have just been my interviewer though but good luck!. It is great news.

Same relaxed experience here. Einstein is a school that wants to get to know you, be yourself.

Just for some variety, mine was actually very tough, a lot of hard hitting questions about my life choices. I am non-trad, so I expected some, but my interviewer was pretty judgmental about it. That having been said, I still got in! I think she was just tough and like past posters said, the AdCom was more interested in getting to know me, even if my actual interviewer was a bit skeptical.

Congrats and good luck! My interview was fairly relaxed/conversational as well. This is mostly speculation, but I expect it's good to be able to speak to what you would uniquely contribute with interviews later in the season - just to help you stand out as someone they really want to take!
 
I got an email from financial aid saying to view my financial aid package. I haven't got an acceptance email yet. What does this mean?

Academic scholarship was very generous for me, financial aid was just loans after that. Einstein's avg debt is about the average for what it's worth.

@jsquared91 - did you hear about the academic scholarship prior to getting your financial aid package? Haven't heard from them about any scholarship and I haven't gotten my financial aid package yet and was just curious to know whether there is still a chance that I could get one.

Also, has anybody else also not received their financial aid package?
 
Also...do they notify people about scholarships via email or snail mail? Thanks!
