@jsquared91 - did you hear about the academic scholarship prior to getting your financial aid package? Haven't heard from them about any scholarship and I haven't gotten my financial aid package yet and was just curious to know whether there is still a chance that I could get one.

Also, has anybody else also not received their financial aid package?

I didn't receive the aid package email but I called the office and they gave it to me over the phone. My scholarship letter arrived a few weeks ago.

Also...do they notify people about scholarships via email or snail mail? Thanks!

Snail mail

Scholarship notification about a month ago via snail mail, then financial aid via email this week (had to log into banner web to look at it). I withdrew, so I'd hope some of the money is going to other applicants. I submitted the financial aid information at the end of February. The office was very helpful when I called, they might be able to give you an idea of when you'll be packaged.

Hi all,

HPWL here. I am on 7 waitlists and 1 pending decision. As such, i have not recieved a "still interested" email. Does this bode badly? Also, when is the best time to send a letter of intent?

Thanks!

I got in off the hpwl as well! It was weird because on weds I got my financial aid package without notification of acceptance. I emailed the admissions office and they said my app was still under consideration. I guess they didn't want to spill the beans until now

Although I'm super happy for all those that got in off the HPWL today, I'm really worried about the fact that its been 10 weeks since my interview without a decision, and I feel like they just filled the class all over again. 🙁 Anyone else in the same boat?

Also just got accepted off HPWL!!! Top choice so im really excited! I never got a "still interested" but i did send a letter of intent as soon as i was put on the HPWL

Congrats man. I know you're going to be super happy here. Twas great meeting you at the interview even if we don't end up at the same school.

E-High five!

Thanks so much man! Will you be sending in that letter?

Hey guys,
Congrats for those accepted!
I was put the HPWL a few weeks back which I responded with a letter of intent and had an LOR from an Einstein alum sent in. Then I received an email 2 weeks ago as well asking if I was still interested to which I had responded that Einstein remains to be my first choice school in a very short email. But unfortunately I didn't get an acceptance today.
Do you think I still have a chance or should I just anticipate a rejection? I'm not too familiar with their pattern of acceptance/rejection emails.

Based on last years thread, there were multiple rounds of acceptances off the hpwl, so keep your hopes up! Since you already got that e-mail, i think you chances are very good.

@RIPCombo , I'm not on the hpwl so I figured I could wait. I'm going to send in a baller letter come Monday though!

Also accepted off of HPWL today! Congrats to everyone else accepted, and to those waiting there is still movement through the end of the month and even after April 30th. Responded to the "still interested" email and was getting ready to send letter of intent.

Same situation, been waiting for 5 months.

Has anyone interviewed and not heard back yet? I interviewed on the last possible interview day and haven't received a decision. Interesting to see applicants getting off the waitlist since I haven't even received a decision yet!

Hey everyone! Congrats to all of you already accepted and good luck to those still waiting to hear. I was placed on the HPWL in the beginning of April and wanted to send in a letter of interest. However, I already wrote a letter to another medical school and filled out the Einstein scholarship forms. I'm running out of ways to write the same things and was wondering if recycling what I wrote in the other letters/essays would be ok.

Also accepted off HPWL the other day! Didn't receive the "still interested" email, just emailed my interviewer last week saying Einstein was my #1 choice, guess that was enough. Really looking forward to this school!

Hello all.

I was just accepted off the HPWL and was wondering about off-campus living . I will be moving to the Bronx with a significant other who I assume cannot live in on-campus housing (at least for the first year). What neighborhoods do students typically live in? Are there particular neighborhoods that are safe, accessible to campus, and accessible to the subway?

Thanks!

Pretty sure there are some singles/ studios as well. Not sure if sos can live there, but if you get one of those then that might help. Ask admissions!

Yeah, depending on your domestic partnership/marriage/engagment situation, you can get a studio in the dorms. We looked around, there are places in Westchester village that are easy commute to the school, but close to the 6 train.

If I recall correctly from my interview, you must be married in order to live in AECOM housing together.

I heard that from some people, others said there was some flexibility. It sounded like a domestic partnership would satisfy the housing office, but I'd contact them directly.

So I'm super excited to have been accepted off the waitlist the other day, but do any of you know when I could hear about a service and research scholarship? I submitted the application a couple of weeks ago. Also, my mom makes less than 30k per year, so do you guys know how much more in grants would be available once I submit my tax forms and her tax forms? I'd really like to go here, but the COA is so high!

For those who have interviewed but haven't heard back, I called the admissions office this morning to ask about decision time frames. Apparently there are is no set date by which we can expect to hear a decision. This extends beyond Apr. 30. Guess well just have to sit and wait!

I thought all schools had to give us a decision (accept, wl, reject) by April 23 so that we can make our decision by April 30? Is Einstein exempt from this for some reason?

where are you getting these rules?

It kind of defeats the purpose of traffic rules if applicants can only hold one acceptance on the 30th, but schools can withhold notifications till after that. It's a bit mind boggling to me, tbh.

Does anyone know when orientation is? Or what day we would be able to move in at the earliest? Just trying to plan my summer. 🙂 Also, good luck to all those waiting on decisions!

For those that were accepted on Friday off the HPWL, did you receive an e-mail from Certiphi? The acceptance page said we should receive the e-mail on the day of acceptance. I previously allowed them to process my Certiphi background check for a previous acceptance, so I do not know if that means that Einstein already has my background check.

I believe you only have to go through the certiphi thing once for all acceptances.

I don't know the exact dates yet, but generally orientation begins mid-August, with people moving in right beforehand. Also, there is an optional "basic sciences" intro course (2 weeks long) which starts before orientation, and allows you to move into campus 2 weeks earlier. It's an awesome way to settle in and meet new people. Last years SDN thread has a lot of info on this subject, so definitely go back and check it out.
You will likely get a packet in May sometime with a lot of this information.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get in contact with your interview day tour guide? I was shown around the campus by the "hip joints".

If you are the married gentleman who was part of the tour guide group can you please PM me! I have a few questions that you began to address during the tour 😀

You can contact admissions directly and thy will likely be able to get you in touch with the members of your tour team!

Otherwise, feel free to shoot me some of your questions, I am a married student at Einstein as well.

For the optional 2 weeks basic science course, can anyone do it or do you have to be a non-science major? The early socializing aspect appeals to me but being a bio major I probably got most of the fundamental curriculum already done.

Check last years thread for extensive discussion about this.

But essentially - if you are out of college for one year or more, it's open to anyone. If you are a science major and coming directly out of college, it's technically not open to you - but if you ask to still be in it, they'll probably let.

The main reason to do it is for the amazing social experience - and get to bond with 30-35 classmates for 2 weeks before the craziness of orientation. Plus, you get to move in 2 weeks early (without having to pay rent!) The course itself is super chill, and you only have like 1 lecture each day in the morning for 2-3 hours. I highly highly highly recommend the 2 week course - purely for the amazing fun time people have!

I think this is last years calendar?
It says 2014 but I received the link to it in an email a few weeks back so not sure. August 10 is a Monday and August 14 is a Friday so it seems likely that it is for this year in my opinion.

(August 10 was a Sunday in 2014 and August 14 was a Thursday in 2014 so that seems unlikely)

Finally a decision of some kind! HPWL a few minutes ago. A little worried about being placed on yet another waitlist, but the email is worded so positively that I have a very strong sense of hope!
