I know decisions are officially posted on march 1... do you guys think calls will start going out on friday the 27th?
 
Wow did Dean Nicolas send everyone a response if you sent in a thank you note for your interviewer? How does he have the time to do all of this!

Previous threads have wondered this and the significance to the content of the thank you. March will be here soon enough!

I haven't looked at any previous threads, but the wording/content for mine seems rather unique to me personally, which is why I'm shocked he has the time to do something like this instead of sending out something automated

Mine was pretty personal too. I don't think we should read into it toooo much, though I definitely think it has to be a good thing!

The last two years (that's the threads I checked), first acceptance calls went out on February 27th, most of them on February 28th. The 28th is a saturday this year, so who knows what they will do with that. Their website says decisions come out mid-February. Perhaps they changed it this year.

Agreed -- in the interview packet it says that they are aiming to release decisions in the second week of February (coming up SO soon!). Good luck to everyone!

The FAQ currently says:
Decisions are made at the end of interview season and all decision letters are sent in Mid February.

I was surprised to see this, as I don't remember hearing a notification date at my interview in December and I had assumed that they would follow the established pattern of the end of February.

I did a little neurotic detective work. An archived version of the page from December 23, 2014, says this:
Decisions are made at the end of interview season and all decision letters are sent at the beginning of March.

I remember talking to the admission office, the decision comes out in Feb they said.

The paper trail seems to indicate that they have relatively recently decided to move the notification date up. Good on them if they keep to that.

I didn't get a letter saying that, and look who's reading into things now!

I just sent them an update earlier this month so there we go.
 
I was worried about this, but if you look through previous years threads, the letters don't really mean anything. My roommate received the exact same letter as I did, except with the interviewer's name switched out. The messages usually are copy/pasted with a few variations. Some people had received very personalized letters from the Dean, and were not accepted anyways. Don't be too neurotic about these haha!
 
Just got an email from Columbia asking to make sure our contact info was up to date because decisions will be out soon!!! The wait may be winding down....
 
OK, did that email from P&S scare the HECK out of me, or am I just crazy?
I was able to read the following phrase from my email inbox landing page: Thank you for your application... and thought to myself...crap, I've been rejected. I thought decisions had come early, but nope, we still got about under a month to wait.
Columbia, you just gave NYU a run for their money in giving me a near heart-attack...

At least (for me) it was the random password that Columbia assigned me, not a variation on the passwords I use for email/etc. Whenever I get an email that shows my usual passwords in plaintext (e.g. "Thanks for creating your account to zombo.com. Your password is Hunter2") I freak out.

I was super confused because I'm interviewing next week, so my first thought was that they've decided not to interview me after all, and just reject me outright.
 
Looking at last year's thread, the "update your info" email went out exactly one week before the first person got an acceptance phone call. Dare I get my hopes up?

I wouldn't follow that pattern too hard...with new admissions staff at literally every med school, and an earlier commitment deadline, the timecourse for cycle 2K14-15 is quite different than last year's.
But hey, you never know...

You're definitely right, chances of it being exactly a week are rather small. But it's so hard to temper excitement haha
 
This totally scared me!! Next week is the last week of interviews right?
 
Is anyone else having trouble getting to that link in the email? Are we hugging it to death?

EDIT: Nvm, reading comprehension/technology fail.

Yeah, I'm actually getting pretty sketched. The media is probably sensationalizing it with "may be one of the worst blizzards ever," but I'm still worried about getting in an out of NYC alright.. :/

Haha i know, it's probably a problem one would rather have than not, it's just a lot of things are getting cancelled and they are almost releasing decisions and I really want this to happen tomorrow, else they will probably just reject everyone on this interview date dun dun dun....

Yeah I feel like the media always blows things out of the water, but I remember I said the same thing when Sandy happened so who knows, flights will probably be delayed monday night and Tuesday though 🙁
 
it may not be as big as they make it out to be, but it will definitely cancel a lot of flights tomorrow PM. good luck!!
 
My Tuesday flight was just cancelled (I have a Wednesday interview).

This is the last week of interviews, so unless someone cancels last minute and they invite someone to take their place, yeah.
 
Bah cannot wait to hear back, interview went awesome - probably one of the bests...and now everything is quiet because of the snow O.O
