Those who received interview invites today, did anyone get a confirmation email after calling them to schedule the interview date?

Same! I did not get the confirmation email until 3-4 days after I called to schedule back in November. Don't worry!

Yeah. You just need to give them about a week. If you still haven't received your confirmation email by then, call the admission office. Don't be like me and wait until like 4 days before your interview to inquire about the lack of a confirmation email.

Any current students know anything about merit scholarships here?

It's a state school; check their website. As graduate school goes in general, there isn't much if any and what's there (if any, I don't know because I've not looked in to LSU merit based med school scholarships) logic tells me it's pretty competitive as a rule. So top MCAT, GPA, volunteer, extra-curricular should equal stellar. Just my supposition.

I've checked the website and there are numerous scholarships listed. However, I've never heard of someone (from personal life or going back multiple years on these threads) receiving one, which is why I wanted to see if any current students could chime if they received one/know a fellow student who did. Preferably dollar amount ranges if known and time at which the offer was made.

yea, I hear ya. Me neither. Makes it seem all the more elusive. If I hear anything, I'll post.

does anyone know if those who interview past 03/15 actually have a chance in getting in this cycle? I am scheduled on 03/17, feels like I am just fighting for a wait list spot :/

I think it is for a waitlist spot 🙁. I'm after 3/15 as well.

It's for a waitlist spot. But yea, you have a chance of getting in.

If there was an AdComm meeting on March 6 (this past Friday), then people should start getting letters as early as this Thursday/Friday. Please post if you do, either way. Thanks.

Does anybody know the exact date of this deadline?
By March 15 of the matriculation year, issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and report those acceptance actions to AMCAS. (https://www.aamc.org/students/apply...afficrulesforadmissionofficers-2015amcas.html)

I think it's safe to say, if you've already been NFA'd and haven't as yet received an offer, you didn't make the first cut...unfortunately.

However, there's lots of shuffling that happens between now and the final deadline so there is still plenty of hope. So don't give up!!

In all honesty, is there really much hope for anyone interviewing after 3/15? My interview is all the way on 3/24. I'm excited, but I feel like it's going to be a repeat of last year.

One of my good buddies is currently an MS1 here. He told me that one of his friends interviewed mid april and still got accepted so don't lose hope!

There is hope so don't lose yours! You're going to get there, just keep at it.

Did they send out letters yesterday from the March 6th meeting?

Anyone scheduled for 3/19 interview? The email says they only interview mon-wed but I got thurs somehow and no conformation email yet but confirmed on the phone!

I interviewed in March and was accepted in May. There is a lot of movement on the wait list once people start having to dump acceptances.

generally they do, don't work there so don't know for sure. Accepts go out first (Wed.), then NFA's, and rejects (Thurs.). At least that seems to be the pattern thus far. If you get a letter - either way, please let us know. Good luck!

Best of luck to you on your interview. R E L A X, take in stride, you've got this 🙂

I am interviewing on March 19. Guess they needed more days for interviews. Strange to be on a Thursday. We shall see!

They don't send an email until the week before the interview but if they've confirmed it you should be fine

Yepp got the confirming email. It was just strange they must have just opened up a few Thursdays or something. Idk how I feel about interviewing for a wait list spot but I guess there is still hope!

I interviewed Feb 9 and got my letter in the mail yesterday. No final actioned. I'll be withdrawing my application to attend med school in Texas. Good luck everyone!!!

how do you know for sure its for a waitlist spot??
Because they have to fill their class by March 15th (I think...somewhere around that time) and send to AMCAS. So the class is filled, hence the "wait-list" comment. But technically, no one is wait-listed until after their final, final meeting which happens in the first week of May...after that meeting you will either be accepted, rejected, or wait-listed (no more NFA's for this cycle after that meeting.)

So although an interview after the March 15(ish) date definitely means you did not make the first "main" cut, it doesn't mean there isn't still hope for you to be accepted. The proverbial "fat lady" doesn't start singing until approximately the 3rd to 4th weekend in May when everyone will get a final letter for this cycle.

So are you saying that any interview after March 15 will either be NFA or rejected?

NFA, REJECTED OR WAITLISTED....it doesn't take me to bring that to light does it? I mean, If their class has to be filled by March 15 and they are required to report same to AMCAS...just saying. So, by mid March their class is filled...as many have said in this forum over and over and over again....even though you are interviewing after March 15th...you still have as good a chance, as equal of a chance as any that have been NFA'd that have interviewed before you, to be considered to fill spots that open up. So take heart. Keep on keeping on. This is a calculated crap shoot. (calculated for them - for us poor bastards its also a calculated crap shoot but without any control of outcome no matter the effort put forth. completely out of our control no matter how many hoops we jump through.)

Anyone have a list or know how to see a list of all of the places that LSU students matched this year?
