2014-2015 New York University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Lol congrats! What dates are they scheduling for?

From the third week in November through the second week in December. The invitation says they offer a "two-week block" but I see a somewhat longer range, presumably because of Thanksgiving.

II just now! I received the awful fake interview invite back in september. Complete 8/14, LizzyM ~72, non-trad. I'm SO excited, NYU is one of my top choices and the fake interview invite had depressed me sooo much.
Congrats. Just curious, what interview dates are they handing out currently?

I also just got an II. Dates available were early/mid December.

Congratulations and Good Luck! Per chance were you a recipient of that random email with the lecture or whatnot that was sent out a week or so ago? Thanks!

Thanks! I didn't get that email. This was the first communication I got from NYU since my complete email back in the first week of August.

II here as well! Complete 7/27, LizzyM around 74, OOS. I definitely thought I was out of the running by now, very pleasantly surprised.

Just to pop in here I have an II from NYU awhile back and got the email about the lecture/seminar

I didn't get that email, so no one should read too much into it.
True. I don't think it means anything either. But it could be that you didn't receive it because you just receives your II....not that it matters

Thanks so much for all of your responses! Was just curious!

Again congrats and good luck 😀

I also did not get this email. And yes, lots of availability all throughout December.

Hi! I have just received an interview invite and was wondering if you know how I can find a student host. Thank you!

Once you've scheduled your interview, look on the website (the one you submitted your secondary/ scheduled your interview with) on the "Interview" tab, under the "Travel" section. It will have an email address that you can email to get setup with a host.

Does anyone know how the acceptance process works at NYU? I was under the impression that they don't make any decisions until after they finish interviewing everyone in December, and then they start sending acceptances. Their website says that acceptances are rolling, and that everyone will hear of their final decision in January, so I'm a little confused by how that works, since that process doesn't really sound like rolling admissions to me. According to MSAR, the first decisions are released on December 15th.

Took me awhile to find this too. Go to the interview page on the application website. There are instructions, they tell you to send an email to the people in charge of hosting with some basic personal info so they can find out a host.

They said decisions wouldn't come out til Janruary too I think, so it rolls through that month

You're right, it doesn't really sound like rolling admissions but that's what they do. According to last year's thread, lots of post-interview rejections and wait lists went out on jan 31. But then there was significant moment off the wait list in the following 2 months.

I got one. It is really unfortunate to see an email from "admissions at nyu med," have your heart pop up to your esophagus, only to receive an update on the next webinar.

That's not to say the webinar doesn't sound cool... It's just that an acceptance would be cooler.

EDIT: I know decisions are released in January, but that doesn't keep me from getting super excited every time I see an email from them.

It's happened to me twice!

Yuuuuup.

I didn't get one either. I suppose that doesn't bode well for me ever getting an II 🙁

Seems like not many interview spots are left. No II yet seems to be a silence.

lower end of their stats but lots of clinical experience and volunteer work

Do you mind sharing when they're scheduling interviews for? are there only a few dates left?

How do we know the spots are taken up versus they haven't been made available yet? Just wondering how you know this.

The secondary says, "Interview season will run from September 8th to December 18th."

When I scheduled my interview about a week ago, the open interview dates were December 1st-December 11th with a few spots in November.
🙁 really hoping to get one of those final Interview Spots. Would love a chance to interview here and see NYU.
