Congrats. Similar stats but I am OOS. I havent seen a whole lot of IIs going out so far.

Just got in!!! Dean Heinrich is the man. Keep in touch with him if you haven't already. Good luck to all other applicants. PM for stats/details.
I haven't received an II, is there anyway I can bring myself into a good light with the Dean? I've already contact the office of admissions asking if my application is complete, and it is, is there any other I can be proactive in this time?

I was thinking about sending a letter of interest, but I think it's too early to do that..

II about a week ago. I interview September 30th at 2pm, selected the student interview as well. 3.96 gpa/ 34/ strong extracurriculars. I am excited! I really want to go to NJMS!
Congrats. Are you IS?

I just received an email telling me that I am being removed from the Early decision program and being moved into the regular decision pool. The committee will re-evaluate my application during the regular cycle. I feel like complete crap and now I don't know what to do. Please help, any advice would help. I interviewed on 9-9-2014.

Its already a little late in the cycle, but just add schools that accepts applicants with stats similar to yours. Make sure to add schools ASAP because some schools take a while to send a secondary.

@4EvrMirin, I read a couple of your previous posts/threads. (Hope you don't mind.) I'm so sorry about your current situation - with family and all. Trust me when I say that I understand what you're going through.

From my understanding you have a relatively low MCAT score but terrific ECs. And you plan on retaking in January. As @fatimany mentioned, it's rather late in the cycle. I think your best bet is to focus on improving your MCAT score and hope for the best next cycle. Putting in dozens and dozens of new MD applications this late in the cycle and with a low MCAT score is a recipe for disaster. If you don't get in, you'll have to explain to A LOT of ADCOMS that you previously applied but didn't get in = not fun.

Perhaps consider DO schools as well.

And finally, don't give up hope. From my understanding, if NJMS's ADCOM (or any in general) didn't quite like you... then you would have been rejected outright. Clearly there was a special something that stood out on your application that warranted being moved to the RD pile.

hey guys, regular IS applicant, 32 MCAT 3.78cGPA, average ECs....no interviews invites at all, is it still early? I'm getting kind of worried.

RedHuntingHats, thank you for being kind in your response. I did retake the MCAT in the past and scored higher than my first initial MCAT. The old posts/threads that I posted were of my old MCAT I scored better this time and significantly so. I scheduled a meeting with a member of the admissions office to talk about my application.

If your new MCAT is 30 and above, you can go ahead and add a lot of schools that accept applicants with your stats. Some deadlines are in October so I suggest you add the schools ASAP so you can get the secondaries rolling.

Same here man. 3.55/30 and nothing. Stings the confidence right in the feels.

Nope, I applied to about 15 schools but havent heard anything back yet. You??

Just one...and it's a school where only 10% of interviewees are accepted. Yikes! Maybe there's a secret to this whole process that we just don't know?...haha

Also applied to about 15 btw. Rejected from 3 so far.

When were you complete? And mostly northeast schools? We might have applied to same schools, I did see you in Georgetown thread.

First of his name. IS. 3.52/32 MCAT. No raven from Rutgers as of late.

Our time will come. And if it doesn't come, we won't wait around to be a page in someone else's history book.

Hey guys, I have a few questions about NJMS interview. I have heard from multiple people that the school's atmosphere is very friendly and the clinical experience great

I realized that interviews at NJMS are somewhat close to a traditional format during which you talk with a faculty member for about an hour. What do you think is the best way to prepare for my interview? What are some good things to talk about and what are they looking to know more about me through my interview? Also, how long do you think I may hear back from them for their decision after my interview? Any token of advice from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

Just received an II today!!!!! Application finished 9/6, MCAT: 10VR / 12PS / 11BS, cGPA: 3.22, BCPM: 3.38, in state applicant.

II yesterday. In state applicant, cGPA: 3.63, BCPM: 3.55, MCAT: 32 (PS:10 VR:10 BS:12)

Accepted ED 🙂
Had a structured intimidating interview but, it all worked out ! (Was accepted back in mid August just forgot to post)

hey guys...kind of a weird question but....for the Interview...beard or no beard?
The general rule seems to be only keep the beard if it is neatly trimmed and well kept. I saw someone up at Albany who really kept on top of his, and you could tell it wouldn't be an issue.

What are your guys' thoughts about the student interview? Pros, cons? Good or bad? Any input would be greatly appreciated from those who have done it!

I found the student interview to be a great way to get a sense of the school. My interviewer was really helpful in describing the student body, the types of learning experiences available, the research opportunities, the volunteer work etc. She really gave me a good sense of the wonderful NJMS community. I got to hear a ton of her personal anecdotes of experiences in their Student Family Health Care clinic! If you're really interested I would definitely encourage it! It's always great to learn more about a school to determine if you are a good fit. Even if not, it was awesome hearing about stories so probably at least worth it from that perspective!

The interview was really casual too, so it was not an added stress in my experience. My student interviewer was incredibly friendly and down to earth 🙂 Hope this helps!

If you have any more q's about interview day let me know!

I would definitely beard it up but clean-cut and trimmed. Shows off a certain "je ne sais quoi."

@DrMula, did you happen to get a recent II? Also, when was your complete/submit date?

Yes I got an II the October 10, sent my secondary July 21st.

does anyone know how long it takes to hear back post-interview?

It was August 25th I believe. Good luck to everyone else hoping for calls in the near future!

Interviewed here yesterday, it was very conversational and enjoyable, though the interviewer did have a sheet with questions on it which he/she was referring to and writing on. I did get the impression from other interviewees that some interviews were more formal, I guess it's the luck of the draw. They said we (those interviewing on October 14) should know by the end of the month, or by the first week of November at the very latest!

Good luck to all!!

Anyone have any info on what the time frame is for learning if the lack of a phone call means wait list or rejection?

Rejected.

This process is such a crapshoot...Congrats to everyone who got the call.
