2014-2015 The University of Toledo Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Current M2 here.
Sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with the interviews and that you couldn't find anyone to answer your questions. Feel free to post them here or PM me and I'll find you answers!

As far as anatomy lab, the PAs are currently in anatomy and may have more students per cadaver, but as a medical student, you will be in groups of 4/cadaver (one of the perks of UTCOM).

Research: plenty of opportunities, especially the summer after your 1st year.

Housing: the best places to live are 10-15 mins away from campus. I know a few of my classmates who live within walking distance, though, too. I personally prefer the time to take a break from studying/school to listen to the radio and just drive.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I didn't have a negative experience at all really, I guess I'm just an incorrigible critic 😎 I will add that UT's students are still the nicest/"chillest" students I've met on my interviews.

As a follow-up, I was accepted here, so I may take you up on your offer if I think of any questions.

Congrats on the acceptance. The more research I do about the program at UT the higher up my list it goes. I would love to go here!

Can anyone comment on their interview here? Was it laid back, were many ethical questions asked...etc. Thanks!

Mine was so laid back. In my first interview, we just talked about my hobbies! In the second I only had one ethical question and then they asked me to define professionalism. It was totally laid back! By far, my favorite interview. Of course they are going to ask you why you want to be a doctor. They love personal stories, so give them a good one! You will do great!

How long after you application is "under review" will you get an invitation to a secondary interview? Also will this invitation just be an email, or can you check online or something? Anyone know how often they interview?

Everything is by email. They interview every Monday and Thursday.

super excited to interview here next week! For the current interviewees--any insight on the social the night before? Also any advice from the current med students regarding the interview and overall process for Toledo would be great!

I thought the social was helpful. You just chat with current medical students for an hour or so. I learned a lot about the school (basically, more than what the website offers), and I was able to discuss "why Toledo" more easily in my interview the next day. Good luck!

Can I ask when you were you complete and when you received your interview invite?

What time have people been getting their admissions decisions via email?

What time have people been getting their admissions decisions via email?
Mine came at about 8:30 am Eastern.

Has anybody attended the meet and greet the night before the interview? I know it says it's an "informal event," but what have people been wearing? I'm thinking nice jeans and a blouse?
I was wearing jeans and a (wrinkled and casual) shirt. Some guys there were in collared dress shirts. The medical students were casually dressed. I would guess that it doesn't matter too much--I don't think any admissions people were there because it was so late at night. Good luck with your interview!

Does anyone know what percentage of students get financial aid? And roughly what amount? Can't seem to find that information online...I'm hoping that someone who has interviewed may have heard this information? Much appreciation if you can share here.

Anyone know when decisions come out? Days/times? About 3 weeks following the interview seems to be the consensus...

Hey everyone! I'm a first year and decided to make an account and answer any questions you may have about the school or my experiences w/ applying/interviewing. Feel free to PM me if you want to ask a question in private. Best of luck to all of you who have/will interview!
Do you have any idea about the turn around time from interviewing to acceptance/WL/ rejection?

I believe I heard back after about 10 days. An acquaintance I know heard back after about 2.5-3 weeks. It seems that most decisions come back between 2-3 weeks. How long since you interviewed?
Thanks! I interviewed November 13th, so I should be hearing soon!

Last year they went well into April - I think the last date I officially heard was April 24th.

That's reassuring to know, considering this thread has only 4 pages (in comparison to some other schools' threads with 30+ pages)!

Any decisions from Toledo in a while? Interviewed over three weeks ago and am getting a little antsy....

Placed on the alternate list, OOS. Interviewed ~3 weeks ago. Kind of surprised since I thought my interviews went really well.

I interviewed around 3 weeks ago, did they contact you via email? I haven't heard back yet. Best of luck to you!

I'm still really hoping to hear back from Toledo for an II. I grew up in rural NWO and have a 68-70 LizzyM with pretty good ECs and strong letters. I would love to go here. I wish I knew what the hold up was.

II for me as well last Wednesday! First one, I am so excited!

Does anyone know if Toledo is receptive to pre-II updates? I have not heard back from them and have been complete since mid August
Their site says only if you're been invited for interview. Worth a shot reaching out to them?

Let me hope along with you, if there is room enough for two in that hope chest! It took forever (seemed like) to be called for an interview, and I am a lifetime resident of NE Ohio. Can you send in any updates to indicate how strongly you are interested?

I guess I fooled them, once they gave in and let me interview. They accepted me this morning. I am hoping that you are next on the list to be called to make your case. I really did like the feeling there--friendly and almost cozy. Good faculty, too. Come on, Toledo! Share the love, now!
