2014-2015 The University of Toledo Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can anyone comment on wait list movement? I know they do high priority/low priority...but that's about it.

Congrats mc0321!! Would you mind sharing your interview date? Thanks and Best of Luck! Also has anyone here complete in September received an interview invite?

Thank you! I am interviewing February 19th.

Does anyone know how many MD/PhD candidates are interviewed? And if MD/PhD candidates are considered for the MD-only program if not selected for admission in the combined degree program?

Thanks!

I was accepted Wednesday morning after interviewing December 11! I already chose UT over a DO school, but can anyone lend insight into most recent step 1 scores. I saw somewhere that 227 was the average for last year. Anybody else know the answer?

Also, is there a Facebook group for the class of 2019?

227 is also the most recent number I've heard - last year we had a 98% pass rate as well for step 1.
Here is the link for the Facebook group!

I am not sure how many are interviewed each year, hopefully someone else can help with that. If you apply for MD/PhD, you are first considered by the medical school, and then, if you pass that process, you will be considered by PhD admissions. In short, yes, you are essentially applying to both programs at once.

Has anyone contacted the admissions office regarding the status of your application? If so, did you call or send them an email? I was thinking about contacting them. Thanks! Hoping to hear from UT soon.

They're not terribly receptive.

I am assuming that many of us have been reviewed possibly, its just that our stats are not stellar enough to get an interview early in the game. But hopefully soon!
I agree. I took it more as a courtesy "we're still working and we're still interviewing" email.

Anyone here receive an ii that was complete in September? If so, do you mind sharing stats? Thanks!

I was complete at the very end of August. Got an II some time in December. Will be interviewing February 9th. IS, 3.7 cgpa, 3.6 sgpa, 27, 32 retake.

How were people notified that they were rejected pre-interview? I just went to check my status on the login page, and it looks as if I'm no longer in the system. I can login, but I can't access my application.

You can only be rejected by email. There is no way you check

What log-in page? Toledo doesn't have a portal, so you might be on the wrong thread!

(Of course, highlighted and underlined in read) after posting I found the emailing from Christine Wile saying there was no way to check on your status. But I was talking about this page: http://application.utoledo.edu/. After you submitted your secondary fee you could come back, click on your application and at the bottom it would say the date you paid and to the right a box that was blank that said "status."

Anyway, my bad, didn't realized that wasn't anything useful. Thanks for the responses.

Anyone receive an ii after that update email ?

I haven't, but I know from looking at last year's thread people interviewed up through April 24th, so I'm assuming there are still interviews to be had.

Does anyone know if they are receptive to letters of interest pre-ii?

It seems like no. They have echoed this sentiment in most their emails. In the last email from Christine While that we all received on 1/22, she said: "Submission of updates or supplemental application materials are not necessary or required, unless it is upon request from the Medical School Admission Office. Or, if you are invited for an interview, you may bring this information and share any other relevant information at that time."

Interviewed here on Feb 9, the interview was very conversational and fellow applicants were cool to talk to as well!

I will be interviewing here 2/26 and I am super excited to visit the school! Anybody else interviewing that day?

Haven't heard anything yet from here, but I did see that in previous years they've interviewed all the way through the end of April with plenty of acceptances after that point.

Still hopeful! Complete August.

I'm super excited! I just got my first interview of the season here. I am an OH resident with 3.96 sgpa. My first MCAT (July 2014) was a 27, and I was devastated. But I went ahead and applied broadly with that score and retook the test Jan 8. I got a 35!! I guess Toledo saw that score and was like now we want to meet her lol.

Wow was that the last test date?

That's awesome! Congrats on the your much improved MCAT score! When is your interview?

Any idea what the turnaround time is for decisions following interviews?

Alright, so I interviewed here on Thursday and have to say thanks to everyone who posted earlier with tips about the interviews. It was MUCH appreciated. 🙂 Minus the frigid Alaskan weather, I was surprisingly pretty impressed with the school. They unfortunately ran out of time to give us the whole financial aid presentation though. Is there anything completely game-changing about the financial aid they offer, particularly for OOS'ers?

I'm assuming you had the English guy give your opening presentation? He ran out of time on my interview day too. But it's not really a big deal. If you've seen one FA presentation, you've probably seen them all. Also, the FA presentation should be online somewhere since it's just a video. If you contact someone at the admissions office, they should be able to give you a link to it.

@docdoc14, there is. I think if you check the threads from last year, you will see this topic much discussed. Toledo apparently is very helpful in getting OOS changed (after a year, I think) to IS status. There are also scholarships reserved for OOS folks. Definitely worth a search on the UT thread from last year!
