Hey all!
I just logged into my Tulane app and it says I've been accepted for an interview. It says "Interview not yet scheduled" and when I click the interview tab it says "congratulations!" and lists available dates.
Butttt their screening process says they will email us.
Any clue on how I should proceed? Should I wait for an email?

Out of curiosity what dates are there?
Yeah that's my plan right now. I submitted my secondary on 6/30 and was complete when my MCAT score came in around 7/22
It's various Mondays and Fridays starting on September 15th.
I have 29 and I am not rejected...yet.

My AMCAS was complete around the 20th of June, I submitted my Tulane secondary June 30th and was complete July 2nd

Also, was reading on the Tulane website, 500 interviews for ~200 spots = 40% chance of acceptance post interview?!

Its actually more than that because they hardly have 100% yield!
So then if they accept say, 1.5x class size then its 60% chance? How would one even know amount of acceptances sent out or general percentage wise trends?
That's about right. Actually there's a lot more acceptances, since plenty of people will get accepted and attend other schools. Tulane only gives interviews if they think you're probably going to fit in here. The interview is just to confirm that you're as good as you look on paper. The high post-interview acceptance rate helps make up for the steep secondary fee.
I'd imagine it is around 60-70%. Normally US News has those statistics but since Tulane is technically unranked they don't have them :/ Do you have an invite?
Submitted my primary June 4th and still haven't gotten a secondary....
I'd give them a call. They said you should receive on within 7 or 10 days.
Yeah, will do. I don't know what happened. It says on MSAR that everyone is supposed to get one. @claduva94
I had the same problem and the secondary invite was in my spam! Check if you haven't already.
I check my spam everyday and delete them so that I don't have 100000's where the secondaries can get lost. I either didn't get it or deleted in my spam. @Hopeful-to-be-a-doctor
what's the story behind them being technically unranked
They aren't ranked by USNews meaning a lot of their information is not listed.
right but why aren't they ranked? do they just decline to report their info

Tulane SOM does not supply data to US News, therefore US News classifies Tulane as unranked. There are several pages of schools in the US News list from all across the country that fall into this category. I see the other two medical schools in Louisiana are also unranked for the same reason.
Unranked is different from the category "Rank Not Published," which represents the bottom quarter of schools that can be ranked.

Unranked means that U.S. News did not calculate a numerical rank for that school. The school did not qualify to be numerically ranked by U.S. News. Schools marked as Unranked are listed alphabetically and are listed below those marked as Rank Not Published.
U.S. News believes that because these schools are unable to report key educational characteristics or because they have certain other characteristics, it would be unfair to try to compare them statistically with the other schools that are part of the rankings.

I would love to hear if someone knows more details about this! Tulane is a top choice for me no matter what, but it is odd to not be able to have a numerical comparison to other schools. I will say from what I have heard from friends in undergrad (that may be off track) that Tulane has a frustration with the rankings for undergrad because they use retention rates averaged for some arbitrary (and lengthy) amount of years. For Tulane, this would include the Katrina year when there was no fall semester. Although the number of students that came back was admirable, it was not their usual retention rate. I would think the factors to rank med schools would be different, but it might be somewhat of a reason for the U.S. News Explanation above.

If you're using numbers to compare Tulane to other medical schools, you're doing it wrong. Tulane's big advantages are awesome early clinical experience, the school is in a unique city that's great to be in if you like the nightlife/bar/restaurant/live music/generally having fun scene, good flexibility on rotations, an emphasis on serving the underserved, P/F grading and a generally friendly and noncompetitive student body. The big disadvantages are the cost of tuition, the school is in a unique Third World city that can be a real hassle for those with grown-up responsibilities, unimpressive buildings and facilities, and the cost of tuition. None of those things can be quantified except for the tuition, and that isn't a factor in the U.S. News rankings. The statistics U.S. news uses shouldn't be significant factors in your decision to come here or not. Student retention is good; the faculty won't let you fail out without providing all the help they can. There's enough research going on here that you'll have no problem finding research opportunities if you want them. Selectivity statistics don't really apply here either because Tulane tends to take a lot of nontrad students with a low cGPA but good recent grades.
I'm not concerned about numbers/rankings. I just indicated that it was odd to not have a ranking among other schools and provided one possible reason why since people were asking about it. I meant it as more of a further discussion on the difference between the rank not published/unranked thing. Rank not published means it's a low rank, unranked, such as in the case of Tulane, means there may be other factors. That took me a bit of research to figure out and understand what kinds of factors they were talking about. As I said right off the bat, it's a top choice for me no matter what 😉. The use of numbers for me would be more of having an idea of how much hope I should have. There's more detailed admissions info available for the ranked schools that makes it a little easier to understand what your chances may be and the waiting is slowly driving me crazy. Thanks for the additional info though, I do love New Orleans and the comment on selectivity statistics was comforting!

Congrats! I've been getting absolutely no love from any of my schools except my state schools and WVU, and I've been complete since early/mid July for most of them. I really want to explore New Orleans (and other locations) too!
I'm in the opposite boat. I've heard nothing from my state school or the state schools where I attend college. I imagine we will start getting some love soon though! 🙂 September seems to be a busy month!

4.0/34 here. Very very unique EC's.
My stats are almost exactly the same as well. My ECs aren't anything super special. A lot of leadership, research, work experience, and volunteering. I do have reasonable ties to New Orleans though.
II! Complete 7/2! OOS high MCAT low GPA (very very drastic trend). Can't wait to see this amazing school in person!
This is absolutely wrong - Tulane does not to send their data/information and it has been that way for years. The qualifications you posted for 'unranked' vs. 'rank not reported' apply to undergraduate universities do not coincide with the medical school rankings. See sazarac's post with the detailed link if there is still confusion.

I just want to state for the record again that those of you who are excited about the interview because you can "visit New Orleans" or are "headed to New Orleans" truly get it. When we evaluate interviewees, there is a place on the form where we evaluate your awareness of / enthusiasm for the city itself. It's easy points on the interview if you can look halfway interested in the environment outside the school buildings.
I've been to New Orleans quite a few times. But I'm coming 2 days early so I can explore the city more. Do you have any places you recommend looking into?
For the "list activities" question on the secondary, did you just LIST what your hobbies are? For example, fishing, weightlifting..ect. or did you explain them a little bit?
