Fingers crossed!

I got the under review change on the 23rd and first round of acceptances went out on the 28th.. Maybe this means something on the 11th or 12th?

I'm sure you had the same experience when interviewing, but nearly everyone I talked to had gotten the hold email at some point so chin up!

Aw thanks!
I was just super let down cause the subject line appeared as "UA Tucson Acceptance" on my phone so I almost had a heart attack and then opened it to find the deferred decision email. I wasn't expecting an acceptance so soon cause I'm certainly not a "no question" candidate so I'll keep hoping for good news 🙂 I love this school!!

Congrats to everyone who did get in today !

Fingers crossed that the next email's content matches the subject line!

Edit: would it be worth calling to make sure you got the correct email? Not sure how U of A views inquiries like that but that subject line is quite misleading.

I know, it's terrible haha. But you know what I meant!

Edit: By 'it's terrible' I mean the self-appointed titled of Lower MCAT, not the MCAT score itself 🙂 Ok no more edits now!
 
Accepted! Can't believe it!

Interviewed 9/6, got the 'Still Under Consideration' email the first time around. I can confirm both contain 'Acceptance' in the title, lol.

Best of luck to everyone still in the running and those still to interview!

Hello. I interviewed the same day as you. Have you received the hold or acceptance email yet from today's acceptance round? I am sitting here anxiously refreshing :sour:

Haha - I know what you mean! I have not nor do I expect to hear anything back until next week at the earliest. Perhaps Friday next week?
 
So do they have a round of acceptances about every two weeks?

The full title was "UA Tucson Acceptance UPDATE" guys, my phone just cut off the update part in the notification lol.
Still not cool though!! I'd rather it say admissions update. Don't they know how neurotic we all are?! 😉

I don't believe so but am often wrong. Call them and ask as they are pretty open to answering questions from what I've heard (so more speculation than fact sorry). You will be reviewed each round though and a poster above already moved from hold to acceptance.

Be yourself is what I think is important. Your paperwork got you to this stage and now they want to see who you are. Try and relax before you enter the room by taking a deep breath and focusing on the prompt. Treat each room as being your first one so you don't get carried away if one goes really well (or not so well). The evaluators are really nice and are there to basically get an impression of you - so make sure it's you! You may find you really enjoy the format.

Two weeks ago got this.....
"Your file for the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson Campus is currently under review by the Admissions Committee. You will be contacted regarding your application status as soon as it is available.
The Admissions Office does not accept application or grade updates.
Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson."

Today got this.....
The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson sent out a round of acceptances today. Although you have not been selected at this time, you are still an active candidate in our applicant pool. This is not a rejection letter.
You will remain eligible for an acceptance at any time in the season. It is our goal to keep you updated about admissions decisions and encourage you to contact us should you have questions.

Oh well....not looking good. IS GPA >3.9 MCAT 28.

I have a question about the secondary application. It says check all the programs offered by the University of Arizona (UA) in which you have participated. I was a McNair Scholar and MARC Scholar at my undergraduate institution, but it wasn't specifically at UA. Do they only want UA students to check these boxes, or should I check the boxes since I participated in a couple of the programs at my home institution. How did you guys interpret the instructions? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I am attending indeed. No deposit was required and further information on orientation is supposed to come in January.

I definitely plan to attend! I loved this school and currently work with a lot of physicians (8) who went through residency here. They were thoroughly impressed with the school and loved the city of Tucson.
 
For all those accepted (and those who are accepted over the next few months) I've created an unofficial Facebook Group so we can get to know each other and bounce questions around. PM me your email address and I'll add you to the group. Also, if there are any current students viewing this we'd love to add you to the group to share some of your thoughts and advice. Best wishes to all those still in the running!
 
IS, 32 mcat, 3.65 undergrad, 3.95 grad (Masters in biochemistry), 1 scientific publication, submitted secondary mid October, still no word back yet. How do my chances of getting an interview look at this point? Anyone know how many interview days are left or even how many invites are left? Any stats appreciated.

I was complete 8/18 and received an II 10/3 (6 1/2 weeks turnaround). I see on the COM - Tucson website that they have 5 days scheduled for interviews but there is no telling if they may add more. Current medical students may/will know better about that. I also do not know which of those interview days are still available (though some must be as the final secondary submission date is Dec 12 so they would have to have interview spots open till then) .... but I would suggest that a mid-October secondary submission (if 6 1/2 weeks is a typically turnaround time for secondary review to invite - I don't know that is n=1) that you may hear something back soon or early December.
I do know that the process of waiting turns otherwise normal, sane, and somewhat healthy people into neurotic crazies who are wearing out the buttons on their mice clicking refresh on web browsers. Regarding how your chances look? I don't think anyone except those on the admissions panel can give you an honest answer so I would take any with a grain of salt. Both Tucson and Phoenix appear to look at everything and not just the numbers so no two candidates can be considered equal if their stats are the same.
Other than that - I can only wish you good luck and hope that you hear great news from them soon (maybe changing your name to MedKidTus will get you a faster reply?? haha)
 
Thanks for the reply! I am going crazy just waiting, but this gives me some hope. I really need some IS love from Tucson at this point, PHX already gave me the axe ><
 
Just got email saying file under review - not sure if that is a hold or actually saying that adcom is now actively reviewing my file. Paranoia!

I'd recommend calling the school and following up. I'm not entirely sure who the contact person would be but I know there are alot of people who I'm sure are willing/happy to have you crash at their place. Best of luck in interviews!
