I'm moving into Argenta Flats this summer - it's a new complex right across the bridge in North Little Rock. I looked at the Riverside apartments (brightwaters, etc.) and they just didn't seem like a good enough value or a good fit for us (me + wife + 2 dogs). We looked at quite a few different complexes and landed on Argenta because it was a good fit for us. Enough cool things in walking distance, close enough to school, close to the corner of the bike path loop - stuff like that.
Also, the apartments we were in the past year, the Berkley, we originally picked because it was a convenient location and had plenty of places to walk our dogs - anyway, it's a relatively convenient drive to UAMS (10ish minutes, pretty close to 430/630 interchange) but overall not a great living experience. They're not too expensive though.
Rockwater at Riverside is also on the North Little Rock side - a little pricier, but the complex and amenities seemed nice - there's a nice housing area being built close by, and it's right on the river. Also keep an eye out on craigslist - there are some multi-unit properties that are super cool that aren't the standard apt complexes! We saw 2 that were very cool - would have snatched it up if they allowed pets!
Anyways - best of luck to all on house hunting - I'm not an expert by any means, but I lived in LR for the past year and me and my wife did quite a bit of digging around to find the right fit for us - feel free to PM me if you have a question you think I could help with!
