waitlisted also. i can't remember - on interview day did they explain much about how the waitlist works? will we have to wait until spring to hear anything or are people from the waitlist periodically up for reconsideration whenever the adcom meets?

From last year, they won't look at the wait list until May 1st. Also I hope it was a fluke but last year there was almost zero wait list movement for us since almost everyone kept their UF seat. I'm not trying to be negative and I hope they utilize the wait list more this year, but yeah most of us didn't hear a thing all summer. Good news is interviewing at UF, you have an ~89% of being accepted at an MD school based on previous years and it held true for me and a lot of my interview cohort.

Verified via email that waitlist activity mostly happens after the April 30 multiple acceptance deadline. I think I was confusing their procedure with what I remember of UCF's. I also asked what % of previous classes have been drawn from the waitlist and received this response, which may interest some of y'all.

It fluctuates year to year. Last year was an unusual year for us and fewer than 10 were accepted from the waitlist. That is not typical – normally there is plenty of waitlist movement but we just don’t know what will happen this year. Also this year we have not given out as many early acceptances as the year before due to the combining of two separate programs (JHMP and RUUM) into one, so that will create more space for acceptance through regular admissions/waitlist.

for those that have already interviewed, a drivers license is fine for the proof of ID right? I assume it would be but i didnt see it mentioned in the email
 
I've been complete since 9/15. Does anyone happen to know how long its taking most of ya'll to receive ii after submitting your secondary?

Can anyone comment on a few questions? I had an early interview and didn't know what things would be important to me at the time, so I didn't ask a lot of the right questions on my interview day.

1. When did the curriculum change happen? Was there a change of leadership? There were a lot of posts from older threads on cut throat students, long classroom days, etc and I got a different impression on interview day. They seemed to really care about the students and patients and the students seemed very happy. Was there an overhaul or gradual changes? How is it now?
2. What is an average week like? When are classes/ other activities? Is there a lot of free/independent study time? Where do students tend to hang out outside of classes?
3. What do students do outside of class? How active are student run clinics, other service initiatives, social activities? Is there a culture of research, shadowing, extracurricular academic programs outside of classroom hours?

I think that the full curriculum change occurred two or so years ago. I just know that when I interviewed, there were students who had gone through the old curriculum so it could not have been that long ago. What I do know is that the general consensus is that the competitiveness has decreased a ton since the new curriculum was incorporated (especially with the P/F system). Everyone seemed pretty happy and cooperative when I was there and everyone I talked to there was super into the school.

I can't really say much about the other questions because I've never lived in Gville. I asked about the free clinics and shadowing and was told that medical students are able to do both rather easily. I've heard the clinics are pretty active as well.
As for research, UF definitely has a ton going on so there's definitely a culture for it.

Just some input from my experience during interview day. Hope I could help on some of your questions.

I just created the Facebook group for the Class of 2019. I am a current medical student at UF. If you have been accepted at this point you should have received an email from me; however, I did not email the JHMP or deferred students, so if you're one of those, email me at [email protected] and I'll send you the link to the group.
 
Hey guys! I have a question for in-state applicants that got interview invites and/or acceptances. How long did it take to hear back from the school? My secondary application was completed 10/01/14 and I would just like to know how long I should give them before I start doubting my qualifications for UFCOM? Thank you!

I submitted my secondary on 8/22, was invited to interview during the last week of September, interviewed on October 3, and was just accepted on October 28.

Wait listed :/ OOS. I'm bummed because I thought my interview went really well and I loved the school! Still a chance though! Congrats to those accepted!
 
Can anybody inform me about UF's grading system? Is it true Pass/Fail no internal ranking? Is class attendance mandatory?

It is true pass/fail for the first two years--no internal rank. The clinical rotations (3rd/4th year) are graded on the typical A, B, C scale from how it was explained to me. Some classes are mandatory attendance, but the majority are recorded and posted within an hour of the lecture ending.
