2014-2015 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There's a good chance! They said we would hear back by the end of October, so hypothetically if they were to only send out letters next Thursday, most of us probably wouldn't get our letters until November! So I'm thinking there's a good chance they'll update statuses and send the letters tomorrow.

Based on previous threads this seems to be the trend! Many people received their hard-copy mailed letters about two weeks after the 3rd Thursday of Oct so I hope we'll hear back or see changes soon. I'm rooting for everyone 🙂

Yes! tomorrow should be the day! Good luck to everyone and hope to see you all next year.. ofc if you decide to attend this school 😉

Wait aaaah I also got a status change with the final decision made and an additional correspondence tab!!! (Interviewed 9/24)

I'm still at decision pending! I wonder if it will change soon? Interviewed 9/15 :0

SAME! I'm like freaking out now...

I think it's okay! We should keep checking for the next few hours to see if there's a change. If we're rejected we should get a status change indicating that, not just decision pending..

Have any 9-15ers gotten the status change yet?

Last time there was a status change among those who had already interviewed, mine didn't turn from "interview scheduled" to "decision pending" until the morning after the first statuses started to change. So if it doesn't happen in the next few hours, hopefully it will happen tomorrow morning. Congrats to those with good news!

That's so encouraging, I sure hope we all get good news soon!

Congrats to those with the status change, and good luck to those still waiting 🙂🙂

Status just changed! Been checking the entire day.

A final decision was made on your application on 10-23-14. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

Suspense is killing me. REALLY wish they could just email us.

That's huge! Congrats 🙂 when did you interview?

It still says decision pending for me, but my status also didn't change until the morning after everyone else's changed to "decision pending", so I'm hoping to see a change tomorrow! My interview was in October.

Woops forgot to quote you in my reply

I think this means you are basically accepted! When did you interview?

I interviewed on 9/24.

Well that was certainly uneventful for many of us. Is it most likely now that the rest of us were deferred until their next meeting?

If the committee members have made one final decision, they've probably made many. It might take the admissions staff some time to mail out letters and update statuses on the portal. I'm guessing most people will see "a final decision..." tomorrow.

If they sent the initial batch of letters out yesterday (around the same time they updated my status), it is "possible" to receive the letter today. My guess, is that some of us will know on Monday at the earliest. However, based on past experience across multiple threads, most people will realistically get the letters by the end of next week, or the week after.

That's huge! Congrats 🙂 when did you interview?

I interviewed 10/17 at Peoria.

So from previous posts/years, accepted students have "additional correspondence."
I also see it, and i'm really really hoping that I'm also accepted. But managing my expectations until I have the acceptance letter in hand.

Received an ii today, complete around Sept 20th. It looks like the only openings are in January for Peoria and Rockford. Do you think any Chicago slots will be made available? I literally live 15 minutes from the Chicago campus lol, but I'm obviously beyond ecstatic to be interviewing nonetheless!

Also happened to me. (i live 15m away from chicago campus but slots were all full) Chicago slots will most likely be made available. But when i called in to schedule and asked the same question, admission staff told me that it was in my best interest to sign up as early as possible.

Peoria wasn't bad at all. (2.5 hour drive was a bit tiring, but just practiced interview questions, prayed, and blasted some tunes) Also, i'm sure you've applied to numerous schools out of state and you are prepared to fly out for those MED school interviews. So driving 2.5 hours not bad at all for an interview. =) My two staff interviewers (panel) and student interviewer were awesome, understanding, and helpful. Good luck on your interview!

Thanks for your input! They made it clear that where you interview has no impact on where you are placed. Did you end up at the Chicago campus?

You have to mail your preference in; that's why there's an "additional correspondence" tab on the website, and they'll tell you your location later. And your interview location has no impact on which campus.

Congratulations!! Do you know approximately how long you had the "applicant in process" status for before it changed??

Anyone who interviewed in October getting the status change? I'm starting to stress that I either got rejected or won't hear until the next meeting!!

Scroll up a little to find Wade03's posts; he interviewed 10/17 but he did it in Rockford. I'm a 10/14 chicago interviewee, and I don't have a change yet but Chicago may have more to go through and update. They did tell us a decision should be made for those on my date and before though.

I interviewed on 9/15 and my status still hasn't changed. I think it may be taking them a while to get through everyone. I'm hoping that by 5pm (CST) I'll hear

Hey all
I've been lurking around sdn for some time now and I'm new at this. First off, congratulations to everyone accepted. And for those still waiting on decisions, I'm rootin for you. Anyway I've been complete since 8/25 and my status is still "applicant in progress." I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat or if anyone has any insight on what this means. It feels like a rejection at this point in the midst of all this post-interview talk. Any feedback's appreciated, thanks.

I interviewed mid-October on the Chicago campus and got the status change + correspondence tab this morning. I have no idea what order they're going in though. Last time it took me a whole day after people started stating their statuses changed to "decision pending" and it was the same time-frame this time around. I'm really hoping this is good news and I'm rooting for everyone else as well! Good luck to all!

The wait is literally killing, starting to lose hope that I'll hear back which is odd because the dean said we'd know our status by the end of October

I've been complete and "Applicant in Progress" since August 12.

Peoria! Not Rockford =)
Yea I agree, seems like chicago interviewees take longer to get processed.
Hoping for the best for everyone.

Just a heads up, called admissions to check (because what else do neurotic Pre-Meds do), They said they literally know nothing. I told them that we were told we would know by the end of this month, but they said if they don't hear from the admissions committee then they can't change anything. I also inquired on whether or not I had to wait till next month to hear back, but the lady just said "Keep checking your portal" so that wasn't very helpful but who knows how all this works, I'd imagine that if there is no status change by closing that the committee is waiting

Also, thank you for calling @ScrubsLover9319 !

I interviewed in Chicago on September 15 and I received the status today.

Thanks, @DirkN and congrats! I didn't interview until the next week so I'm hoping they just haven't gotten a chance to add me to the system yet. Man, I can't wait until this is all over.

Wonder how long it would take to receive the letter.. I literally live a block away from the school lol
