When is your interview scheduled for?

Late January, but from last year's thread they keep interviewing into February, and a lot of people who interviewed on those dates got accepted without being on the wait list!

Oh, I received an ii about a month ago for mid-January. I was just curious how deep they were.

Like I always say... It's not over until it's over lol!!!

Is USC receptive to pre-interview updates?

I plan to take the bus from the airport to union station, then walk <2 miles to my hotel that's in Chinatown. Anyone know if this is a safe area to do that? Any other recommendations?

Will it be daytime or nighttime?

As an LA native, I would feel comfortable walking the two miles, but once you get there I would feel it out. If you feel uncomfortable, just über or take the bus. Only reason I'm saying that, is because you'll be carrying luggage.

Good point about the luggage. Thanks for your advice!

It's definitely not the best part of LA, especially it being downtown and all. I would suggest getting a lyft or uber. It'll only cost you a couple of dollars.

Placed on alternate list today. 🙁

Interviewed early November. I'm really hoping there will be some wait list movement because USC is one of my top choices.

I interviewed early September and still haven't heard back. I don't know if I've been placed on a weird silent hold status or they just haven't gotten around to rejecting me yet. I have a strong urge to call and find out what's going on but I don't wanna be that annoying person calling the office to check on their status. -_-

I applied to Keck and got a secondary application.
I also applied to the all of the other UC schools (and some others out of state), but did NOT receive secondaries from them.

I just wanted to ask you guys how much screening Keck does with sending out their secondaries and whether I should keep my hopes up.

Did I just throw $100 away??? I mean, I would have filled out the secondary regardless and paid my dues to see what would happen, but the after being rejected by so many schools, I just want to know that this isn't false hope I'm clinging on to and move on with my life.

(MCAT 27; GRE 311; Undergraduate GPA 2.54; Graduate: 4.00 + a boatload of EC and strong recommendation letters from the director of my college and research PI).

Keck does not screen for secondaries. Your GPA and MCAT are pretty low though so that's probably what is hurting you most.

So false hope eh?

Did someone advise you to apply this year? You should probably retake the MCAT, get at least a 30 but realistically higher. And post in some of the advice (not school specific) forums. Whoever mentioned above that USC tends to like high MCATs is correct. Your chances at a school with an average MCAT of ~34 are pretty low with that GPA and MCAT. Sorry.

Rejected just now. OOS, complete 7/31. LizzyM ~69 so I can't say I'm surprised. They held on to me for a while longer than I expected, though. Guess I'm staying East of the Mississippi.

+1....wish my MCAT score was a tad higher. sigh...c'mon UCLA!

Sorry to hear that. When were you complete?

I was complete on 10/8. Can't say I am surprised though since Keck seems to be more numbers-focused than others. Rejection letter was brief, but polite and consistent with their overall hands-off approach.

We are grateful to you and to thousands of your colleagues across the country for applying to the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Unfortunately, I am writing to tell you that you have not been chosen to interview this year. I still hope that your desire to be of service will be fulfilled.

We receive and evaluate a large number of well-qualified applicants each year. Due to limited time and resources we cannot provide feedback to you about our evaluation of your application. Should you have any questions, we strongly recommend that you consult with a pre-health advisor. The National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP.org) provides volunteer pre-health advisors for applicants that do not already have one.

On behalf of the faculty and students here at Keck, we thank you for taking the time and effort to apply to USC.

Man, that's unfortunate but can I ask you, by "letter", do you mean this was physically mailed to you or was that an e-mail?

Rejected today 🙁 good luck to everyone else running! It was worth a shot!

I was rejected pre-interview yesterday as well after being complete the first week of August! Oh wellz
