II for 9/6 came today. They gave three date options: 9/6, 9/13, and 9/27 on the RSVP even though the email gave the specific date of invitation as 9/6. I switched to 9/27 since I am missing the entire first week of school to do three interviews 8/20-8/22 and need time to catch up on what I missed and process those interviews before doing an interview at Southwestern (top choice!).

Question, I got an email yesterday that UTSW has received my application, im still working on the secondary app but the email said that that the review process has begun, do they wait until the secondary is submitted to be considered for an interview?

I received an email from utsw with a link
II yesterday for 9/13! Although I have the option of choosing 9/6 or 27th like you guys. I'm thinking of choosing 9/27 so I would have at least 1 interview before. UTSW is a top choice and I fear I'd mess up the interview if its the first one. Thoughts??
I wrote 2300. I just focused on giving a complete answer to the prompt without worrying about character count!
Thanks! I'm aiming for around 2000 characters. I just want a length that is succinct, but not too short that it sticks out in a bad way and not too long that I'm just rambling at that point.

II yesterday for 9/27! 33 MCAT, 3.85c, 3.74s, in-state. App and secondary completed before June but letters of rec weren't complete and sent until 7/22. Super excited to get the chance to interview here!

Transmitted 6/24/2014. My LORs did not get received by UTSW until 8/4/14. I also would like to add I had zero research on my TMDSAS application, but did start researching on June 1st which I talked about on my secondary.

So when I went to RSVP for the interview, I noticed that there is a Friday info session on 8/15 that I could pick. This is super tempting as I'm going to be in town. Is anyone else choosing an info session date that is different from their interview weekend?

During your interview, IF they happen to ask you "why Southwestern?", then you can pull things you learned from the info. session. I wouldn't go to Dallas specifically for the info. session, but since you are already going to be in town, I would definitely go!

Are you talking about the Friday afternoon info session? You RSVP for it in the "MyInterviews" tab of the UTSW portal. Click on the confirm/change button.

When I interviewed here, I ended up choosing a different info session date from my interview weekend. Everything worked out fine ... I ended up using that Friday info session as an excuse to spend the weekend at the Texas State Fair, so I can't say I regretted my decision.
It's interesting that they're doing interviews so early this year (usually the first interviews are late August/early September). I hope y'all enjoy your time at UTSW, and let me or any of the other student posters here know if you have questions/comments/concerns.
I just realized I would miss an important lab if I stuck to my 9/12 date, so I am seriously considering moving it to this Friday!

You should have received an email about your completion status for both your TMDSAS app and secondary app. You can only view that your secondary has been completed online through Gateway.

So this is the only email I've received from UTSW so far:
"Thank you. Your Secondary Application has been successfully submitted. You will be contacted through your email address if additional information is needed by the Admissions office. Thank you for your interest in UT Southwestern for your medical education."
Has anyone gotten a different complete email after that?

I got one that said:
"Your application to the medical school entering class of 2015 was received from the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service. Thank you for your interest in UT Southwestern Medical School."
FYI, I got transmitted 7/25.

Does that status change or the real status is somewhere else?
