2014-2015 University of Vermont Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I sent an update letter after being small pooled about a week ago. They did send back a nice email letting me know it was added to my file, so they are definitely receptive. As to whether or not it will help, who knows? But it can't hurt! haha
Thanks did you just send it to [email protected]? and did you address it anyone in particular?

Finally complete and small pooled. No idea when this happened though, as I stopped obsessively checking my status a couple weeks back...

Now phase two of the waiting game commences, I suppose.

Has anybody that interviewed on 12/17 heard back yet? Week before us heard back about 3 weeks ago...impatience is setting in.

anyone with any advice on the earliest flight I could make post interview from the Burlington airport?

The airport is very close (10 min) from campus and is very small (14 gates) so its really up to you. We finished up with our interview day a little before 3:30 so anything after 4:30-4:45 should give you enough time to get checked in but that's only if you are not a nervous traveler as I am sure being stressed about making your flight would not be good for you interview

I'm typically not worried about traveling, and was hoping 525-530 or so would be good. thank you!

does anyone know of any economical hotels or motels near or on campus?

Am I ever going to be marked as complete? Their estimate of "it may take as many as 10-12 weeks" seems like a straight up lie at this point... Do they silent reject? Submitted sometime in August.

I'm also small-pooled. Do they do this for everyone (e.g., they don't reject applicants until the end of the season) or is it actually selective? It seems like a lot of us are small-pooled, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but I'm going to send an update letter anyway.

I haven't been small pooled so those of you with that status, it might be relevant!

That sucks to hear, sorry. Then again, you've been accepted somewhere, so it can't be all that bad! Just to clarify, are you saying you received an actual rejection, or does your application still say that you'll be complete in 8-12 weeks or you're under preliminary review?

I wasn't rejected yet...I just haven't moved out of preliminary review since September

Only 2 posts about hearing back from the 12/17 interview day...

Try to be patient. I do know after speaking to a few people the 12/11 interviewees had responses trickle in over a few weeks.!

Has anyone been accepted off the waitlist yet? How does the waitlist work? I read a comment earlier stating that they accept people off waitlist every week.

I've got my interview coming up this week! anyone from the area with any insight into how the weather is looking?

I just checked my link today after a month of not looking at it and saw that it had changed from being reviewed to this:

Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months.

Interviews are scheduled between mid-September and mid-March. You will be notified via email if you have been selected to interview.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Vermont and your patience with the admissions process.

What does this mean? Is this the small pool?

Yes.

Welcome, Brother. You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave.

Be patient, it'll move.

For anyone stuck in the "application materials have been received" status, I called and was told they are still reviewing applications and are running a bit behind.... I'd say that's a bit of an understatement, considering I'm 23+ weeks in without any status change! Anyway, just wanted to let yall know in case others are getting antsy like me!

Ugh, that's pretty ridiculous. Can't say it's going to be good for them since super late interviewers mean more people are going to turn them down and it's going to make things more scramble-y for the school. What's the point of reviewing all those apps so late in the cycle if so many people that get II's are going to turn them down lol.

Does anyone know when we should expect to hear back after a 1/24 interview?

I wonder if the ferocious weather has anything to do with the delay. Maybe many people couldn't make it to their interviews and had to reschedule.

Hi all! Wanted to offer hope to those still waiting---submitted secondary in August, and I just received an ii today! I am beyond thrilled. Will be there in March 🙂

Congratulations!!! That definitely offers hope 🙂 Do you know how long you were small pooled before the II? Did you send updates? Thanks, and good luck!

Thank you! Unfortunately, I did not check the portal until recently and saw the small pool status, so I have no idea how long I was small pooled for. I did take an August MCAT and those scores weren't released until September, so I imagine my application probably wasn't considered complete until sometime in September, or perhaps later.

I sent one update in January when I received my fall semester grades (took some classes post-bacc).

Hope this helps at all! Good luck everyone!
