2015-2016 Boston University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That's unfortunate. My interview experience was very, very pleasant and I really, really liked the school (it definitely went from low on my list of interest to top 5).

I still think (visited BU when shopping for undergrad schools) Boston is a garbo city though 🤣

I also had a great interview here. My interviewer was one of the nicest people I've ever met in my entire life. Like I sat there a little bit in awe of his social skills.

Anyone else here who had their LinkedIn profile viewed by "Someone at Boston University School of Medicine"? I don't know if this is a friend/acquaintance that has very strict profile settings, or if adcoms are looking at my profile.

Not sure about BU in particular, but schools do google applicants.

I'm a non-trad from an entertainment career and saw views of my IMDb profile go up as well as linkedin views when I originally applied last year. Oddly, I never got an II from an area that looked at my linkedin profile.

Can any current students comment about what life is like at BU? Why they chose BU, and maybe somethings they like and don't like?

For those who have interviewed, where can I find a detailed itinerary for the interview day? Or even just where the interview day starts?

EDIT: Actually just found some info in the interview confirmation email.

Rejected this morning, complete late July. MCAT>>meh GPA. Bummed but secretly relieved to not have to travel cross-country and risk mid-winter weather-related flight cancellations.

Rejected. Big bummer here, but must remain hopeful for the others!

II!!! This is DEFINITELY one of my top schools so I'm super excited!
Primary sent 7/15 and secondary received 7/16 but not verified or completed until 8/14.
Very different undergrad cumulative and science GPA's and grad GPA so I don't know LizzyM score. 2nd year MAMS student.

Rejected just now... completed 7/31

Just rejected. Complete 8/16. My stats were not top notch and it wasn't one of my top choices but I feel irrationally angry for some reason.

Huh, now I know how guys feel on OKC...

That's how application cycles make me feel!

Rejected this morning. LizzyM 76ish and complete late July. Really nice email though, so there's that.

"The Committee on Admissions of Boston University School of Medicine has completed its review of your application. It is with great regret that I inform you that we will be unable to offer an interview this year. This is a disappointment, as much for those who are responsible for the decision as it may be for you, the candidate who is turned away.

Most of the candidates we are considering this year are qualified to attend medical school and are likely to make important contributions to our profession and to society. Sadly, with more than 100 applicants for every seat in the class, we are forced to deny many exceptional people.

We acknowledge and respect your accomplishments and recognize that our inability to offer you an opportunity to complete the admissions process is a loss for Boston University. Please accept our best wishes for all your future endeavors."

Indeed, beautifully written letter to ease the mind of heartbroken people who got rejected. I highlighted my favorite parts.
...and I can post this because, you guessed it, I was rejected today!! Good luck everyone. Like BU said, no matter how this cycle turns out, believe that we are all qualified and will make positive contributions to society in the future.

Wow. This is a very thoughtful rejection letter...thank you for sharing this. Sorry about your rejection. Good luck to you!!

Rejected today, complete 7/27. 🙁 agree with everyone that it was a very kind letter though!
