Do they send pre interview rejections here?
Not until after acceptances go out.
Do they send pre interview rejections here?
Complete email 10/16 (LORs arrived 10/15) and haven't heard anything, though they don't reject pre-II until they announce acceptances, so it's not particularly helpful.has anyone who submitted around 10/15 heard back yet?
Is it just me, or is something weird going on with the portal? Every time I try to log in, it forces me to change my password and then just pushes me back to login.
Hmm....wasn't so yesterday (if memory serves me right), but this evening I seem to be experiencing the same thing: Change PW, then login, then Change PW...
What's your status here? Wondering if it means a rejection. Pre interview for me if that's the case.
Pre-interview, complete 10/15... It seems like there's a glitch in their system. Curious to see whether others are experiencing something Similar.
It's an awesome school so a rejection wouldn't surprise me, but I figured we both were a reasonable fit. Shall we call their offices tomorrow if it's not remedied by then?
For me my password wasn't working anymore so I contacted them and had it reset and then all was fine; accessed the portal no problem. Have them reset your passwords and maybe it'll work.
Don't worry! Probably not a rejection! I interviewed here on Friday and I had the 'Change Password' thing happen too! What's your status here? Wondering if it means a rejection. Pre interview for me if that's the case.

Does Columbia weigh their choices more on academic or extracurricular activities?
@WedgeDawg - I'm pretty sure you don't have first-hand experience yet, but any chance you could speak to the quality of the clinical rotations at Columbia? Some of the pros I've heard so far are (1) exposure with both providing care for the underserved local community and all the rare/interesting cases that come with a strong tertiary hospital, and (2) learning from very accomplished and well respected docs.
I'm interested to hear any thoughts you have, but one specific question I've thought about: Columbia enrolls more students than many other schools. Are there a ton of students on a service at a given time?
they tried to fix it but its not fixed 🙁 ugh
It took a few days for it to work for me. They reset it, then I got locked out again, then I clicked on "forgot password" link, then tried again with the pw they sent (didn't work the first few times before just now being successful). Not sure what's up with that...
Applied for the Bassett Program and still haven't received any yay or nay on an II. Anyone else know if the program has filled yet, or if Columbia is one of those schools that does a blanket rejection at the very end of the cycle?
I think there is only one more interview day for Bassett and it's in early Jan.. unfortunately. holding hope for that myself but it looks pretty bleak. that's just what I heard from someone who actually interviewed for the program.
anyone know/can guess how many interview days left for the regular MD program? thinking of writing an update/begging letter.
You can request a room in Bard Hall - 40 bucks a night, so not too bad at all. And maybe try calling about your account?I just got my II last week, and most days in January were still available (there were like 5 days that were full). So don't give up hope!
Also...I got locked out of my account...but I still need to figure out student hosts and now I don't know how to contact them??? Did anyone have trouble with finding housing for the night? Is this something I should be worried about if I'm not sure when my account will be unlocked?

Congrats on the II! Mind if I ask when you were complete?
I was complete 7/15....so a reallllyyyy long time ago! Good luck! Hope you get good news soon!

Don't give up hope! I recently heard back from a school (same tier as Columbia) where I was complete in July and got an II. Med school admissions is just too hard to predict and anything can happen!Me too. At this stage I have reconciled to a silent reject
Got an interview invitation for the 3 year PhD-to-MD program yesterday. Did anybody else get one yet? Also, is there a separate thread for this? Thanks! Best of luck to everyone.

I got one this year, but I don't think it means anything. It was mostly just a response to my thank you letter to my interviewer.Have people received thank you notes from Dr. Nicholas yet this year? Seems like there was a pretty robust discussion about whether the wording of his letters meant anything in previous years? Did anyone ever find a correlation with that?
I don't know if it matters but when were you complete? OH and CONGRATULATIONS! that is quite the accomplishmentGot an interview invitation for the 3 year PhD-to-MD program yesterday. Did anybody else get one yet? Also, is there a separate thread for this? Thanks! Best of luck to everyone.
What are your stats/do you have an mdapps profile? Thanks
As someone who just finished the major clinical year, wanted to add one thing to what WedgeDawg and mmmcdowe already mentioned. Residents have a great culture of teaching, particularly among the P&S grads, and they end up being a rich source of learning through the rotations. Another positive is that, in most rotations, you are very actively involved in patient care and so you have a lot of hands-on learning, both regarding pathophysiological concepts and regarding technical skills like blood draws or EKGs.@WedgeDawg - I'm pretty sure you don't have first-hand experience yet, but any chance you could speak to the quality of the clinical rotations at Columbia? Mine didn't, but I did get confirmation from the admissions office via email soon after. When I upload a file in the Application Update tab under Status, should the file that I uploaded appear there when I reload the page? Thanks!
When does Columbia stop sending out IIs?
Eh so my guess is that if nothing by the end of next week then nothing at all
