Anyone else dying?

I have been dying for the past two years. I am waitlisted at 6 MD schools and have not heard from any of them. I am gearing up to take the MCAT yet again.

You know what I hate. How much this process cost. Serious, sometimes the financial aid the AAMC provides is just not enough.

Applying to medical schools is like paying for a first class ticket on an airplane, only to end up being stuck in an economy seat the whole flight.

With 6 WLs, your chances are actually pretty good of getting off of one. Just have to be patient at this point! I'm assuming you are retaking cause your score is expiring? One would assume if you had 6 IIs at MD schools, your MCAT would be pretty good!

MCAT Score is a weak point. I have taken the mcat 3 times. My 3rd mcat score is pretty high but verbal is still pretty low. I think med schools don't see my good overall score, but instead like pompous pricks focus on why the verbal score is too low. and probably the fact I took the mcat 3 times.

Improving that MCAT may convert those 6 WLs into 6 acceptances. Sit tight, more than likely we will all know our fates within the next month! Though all these schools could choose to string us along until August :boom:

I'm just tired of my minimum wage job =(

Real movement is on May 15th right?

Most of the people I know who got off the waitlist last year got off early May. I know quite a few people who got off within the first week in fact. So I'm still hoping for early May!
Though Dr. Prakash says that if you don't hear by the end of May, you should plan to reapply if that's what you decide is best for you. So I guess they really move people the whole month. And then there is less movement after that. I think for Mercer, June movement is still better than at some other schools. But once it hits July, there are only a few that get off.

Based on last year's thread, most of the movement will occur May 5th-May25th, after that it slows down a ton though there is still movement throughout the year all the way up to August.

For what it is worth to some of you folks, I believe there has been some movement in the waitlist at MCG.

What I don't understand is why Mercer does not give you an idea where you are on the waitlist.

Of the six schools I am waitlisted at, 4 of them have given me an idea where I stand on their waitlist.

Knowing your position alleviates the stress so much.

Congratulations to everyone who gets accepted this week!!! Good luck to the rest of you guys!!!

Thank you!!! I received an email last night at 6:30pm from Dr. Prakash and Ms. Spear. My interviewer called me today around 4:00pm.

You may have been one of the first ones off the list - earlier than expected too. Congrats! It'll be interesting to see how many more get that magic call over the next few weeks.

By the way, do you guys know anyone else personally who has been accepted? I've got a few friends on the list and they haven't heard anything.

I know one girl who got off last week but declined the offer. I've heard that it's been slowly moving since the end of March, but the movement will be accelerated starting next week.

Well, that's good to know. Thanks!

lol, I keep checking this thread at work in between assignments.

Hey guys! So I haven't received a email regarding where I stand after my interview. I called every week and was finally told I was on the waiting list but still nothing. What should I do at this point? Don't you have you accept to be on the waiting list?

That's odd. In the past, there has been some talk of a waiting list to be on the waiting list...which could be where you stand currently. But there's no way of knowing honestly, so at this point, I would go ahead and prepare for the next cycle. Best case, you get pulled. Worst case, you're ready for the next step.

I received a standardized email for wait list invite. I would check your communication status if you haven't already to see if one was 'sent' and you just didn't receive. You did have to accept, but it wasn't an electronic one. You reply to an email with your info and they just acknowledge that that received. I would imagine that if they said you were on, whoever was taking your calls may have just confirmed it for you. You might want to call though on Monday and ask specifically if you need to do anything else to acknowledge. Also, they encouraged repeatedly in the wait list email to submit a substantial update if you have one, so I would consider doing that. I can send you a copy of the wait list email if you want.

Did any of the people just accepted send an update to their application?

Thanks for you advice!!! And to those who were accepted, what were your stats...if you don't mind sharing 🙂

I only sent in my transcript since being waitlisted.

My LizzyM was around a 69.

Congratss!!! You made ittt!!!! Im sending my good luck vibes to everyone else on the waitlist

Thank you!! I'm hoping for everybody else.

I'm dying for sure. What do we think - maybe 2 weeks before wait list movement goes silent?

Not at all! 3.89 GPA, 19 and 26 MCAT, reapplicant, interviewed in November. About 900 volunteer hours over the course of four years, and I shadowed a pediatrician once/twice a week for about 6 months.

Thanks - way to go! Quite a bump in your MCAT score as well, I'm sure that really impressed them. Time to relax!

Looks like the list is still moving, everyone!

Best of luck everyone ! What's the chances people might get accepted through the weekend ?

Also I sent recently an update but did not receive any sort of confirmation email. Do you think it is safe to assume that they are just busy and won't tell you the received it but will send the updated through to the admissions comittee ?

I don't know when you sent it, but most of the staff wasn't in the office Friday because it was graduation for the MD program as well as for the Master's programs.

It was may 1. Also called but had to leave a VM

Just to let yall know I officially got my rejection email the other day, still on the alternate list for MCG. The email did say they had invited 140 to the WL at Mercer.

Man, being on any waitlist sucks. You could be 20/140 or you could be 140/140.... I have a strong feeling I am the latter....

Anyone who interviewed at Savannah campus, get off the alternate list yet?
