Can a Spartan become a Buckeye?? We'll see.
Has anyone researched if they change this question yearly? It is a doozy, harder if you already talked about this equality in PS.from last year's prompt:
Ohio State University
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr made the following statement: "Of all the injustices in the world, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane." Describe how you would like to contribute to ensuring quality healthcare for all people. (250 words or less)
The Ohio State University College of Medicine's mission is to "improve people's lives through innovation in research, education and patient care." Briefly describe how you aspire to further this mission, in whole or in part, as a medical student or as an alumnus of this College. (250 words or less)
______
what do you guys think? that first question is kind of a doozy imo
That was the prompt I believe for the 13-14 and 14-15 cycles. The 12-13 cycle had this prompt:Has anyone researched if they change this question yearly? It is a doozy, harder if you already talked about this equality in PS.
Thanks for looking into this. I may hold off on pre-writing this one. Have about 20 others I can focus on for now. CheersThat was the prompt I believe for the 13-14 and 14-15 cycles. The 12-13 cycle had this prompt:
In your own words, define altruism and provide an example (or two) of when you exhibited altruistic behavior. (600 words or less)
Articulate your understanding of social justice versus advocacy for social justice. (600 words or less)
Describe one or more experiences where you collaborated or worked as part of a team with people of different racial, ethnic and/or socioeconomic backgrounds and/or belief systems than your own. What impact did this experience(s) have on you? (600 words or less)
Their website says they change the prompt occasionally.
We have several Wolverines here in addition to some Spartans. If they can make it, so can you.Can a Spartan become a Buckeye?? We'll see.
The anatomy requirement must be met for you to matriculate. You can apply without it - as long as you take it before classes start I don't think it's an issue!Does anybody know if I can still be considered for an interview if I don't meet the anatomy requirement? Would I just have to take it before I matriculated or do I need it to even be considered?
Applying as a Wolverine 😱
Hopefully they show me some love!
For this year's incoming M1s, the school is offering a FREE online anatomy course that will satisfy the requirement. The course takes about 35-40 hours to complete. Not sure if this is offered every year.Does anybody know if I can still be considered for an interview if I don't meet the anatomy requirement? As long as you are willing to sing the Michigan Fight Song at graduation (as the Dean mentioned during last year's white coat ceremony), all worthy souls are considered. Hail to the Victors, and Best wishes to you.I'm a buckeye and I am also applying to U of M. I am hoping they will like the opportunity to possibly change a buckeye into a wolverine but then I see that Michigan only accepted four students from Ohio last year 😵

Really liking OSU, will be applying! That being said, I have minimal connections to the state (besides being from the Midwest).
Any input on how much this might be held against me?
Could I ask your stats? Why you chose Ohio State?Incoming M1 here. I was an OOS applicant from the west coast with no ties to the state of Ohio aside from a single family member whom I never visited (no mention of them on my application). My first time in the Midwest was for my interview. Good luck!

Technically there is an in-state bias because only ~20% of applications are from Ohio residents, yet they make up >50% of the class. You're very right though, you don't need to have ties to get in & they do take more OOS than the other Ohio schools. There's no in-state bias here and you don't need ties to the state to have a chance here. My class was split 107 IS, 85 OOS, which is a 55 to 45% split. A large chunk of people here, myself included, had no ties to Ohio before getting in. I'm not even from the Midwest, and never had been to the Midwest.

From what I've heard this is correct. But you will have to take it before classes start. So just to clarify: I can apply without anatomy and having already completed undergrad, and I shouldn't have an issue? It wouldn't need to be addressed until acceptance, correct?

This isn't necessarily the case. These are matriculant data. It is more likely for IS to matriculate once accepted than an OOS. There could be a lot of reasons why Ohio could have the highest percentage of OOS; one of which being its prestige. But this figure doesn't state that they accept a higher percentage OOS. Either way, OOS applicants are welcome in Ohio.

Got the email too, but after setting up the account, I didn't see a link to fill out a secondary.Got an email inviting me to make an OSU account. However, I'm not sure if this is the formal secondary invitation or just instructions on how to make an account.
+1Just received the email inviting me to make an account but it also had the link to the secondary in it. Essays are the same as last year.
Here are the old secondaries:
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr made the following statement: "Of all the injustices in the world, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane." Describe how you would like to contribute to ensuring quality healthcare for all people. (250 words or less)
Can anyone rephrase the second question for me? Is this question talking about innovating through all 3 of these? For example, do I need to talk about what kind of change I'm going to bring to this school and to the way we practice medicine? or is it talking more about what your future plans are?

Briefly describe how you aspire to further this mission, in whole or in part, as a medical student or as an alumnus of this College. (250 words or less)
Don't worry! I'm a re applicant this year. I did the same thing you did and freaked out about it for a while. I still got an interview and I'm still on the wait list!Nvmd, submission went through fine. Noticed another issue however. All the apostrophe's in my text were changed to question marks. Even used notepad instead of word as they suggested.
*sigh* there goes my application, worked hard on these essays too 🙁
Yes this Spartan also rec'd the Ohio secondaries.Got the "make an account" email and the "here is the actual secondary link" email earlier today. Woo more secondaries!
