2015-2016 Tulane University Application Thread

A little late to the party here - I completed my application sometime around July 15th if memory serves, and was offered an interview at Tulane on July 29. LizzyM 65

Are people using the abbreviation "II" on here to stand for secondaries or for interviews?

Congratulations!!! That's great news!

II= Interview Invite

if any of y'all are looking for hotels for interviews/visits, i called them all up and holiday inn has the best rates, $100 to $120 a night. there's a contact on the e-mail they sent out, and they'll be able to set you up with a room. hope this helps!

just got a II ! LizzyM ~70. Does anyone know if interviewing late December/January really hurts since its rolling? Those are the only dates offered at the moment

I had a friend last year who got in and interview late January. Even if they are rolling, they still want to fill their class with student throughout all the interview season... I think lol

Interviewing as early as possible is advantageous in rolling admissions, but December or January isn't super late. However, it's kind of a moot point because all of the earlier slots are probably filled (which is why you aren't being offered earlier dates), so you just have to take what you can get regardless of whether or not it's late in the cycle.

Has anyone with a September interview heard back about student hosting yet?
I got the host confirmation email on Aug 13th for Sept. Looks like I'm staying in a hotel the Tuesday prior, and then staying with a host on Wednesday night.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone else from mid July who is awaiting a decision not receive a "complete and under review" email?

Yep I never received it and I think I was complete on 7/15. And haven't heard anything at all since the secondary emails.

Can someone clarify what the "Letters of Recommendation" category on the secondary app means? Is that in reference to my amcas letters of rec? And how can I get that section to be a green check?

I interview late January last cycle and got in. And I know other people got in too. Interviewing late isn't an end game.

Mid August 2014. And late January 2015 was the earliest I could schedule

When I interviewed in late January 2012, I kept in touch with 5 of my fellow interviewees. We all got acceptances from Tulane.

I remember being all "woooo" and found it strange that some other folks were "meh". I guess they had acceptances, or were hoping for acceptances, from someplace else. Oh well, their loss. 🙂

2nd rejection of the day... Complete mid July. -_-

Sorry to hear that. I was complete 7/11 and still have heard nothing.

But after my VCU rejection I fully expect that my day is coming soon.

I haven't heard anything yet either. I was complete mid July.

Rejecteeeeeed. Completed 7/27. Thought I had a pretty good shot here. Oh well, I appreciated how they handle applications by letting you know quickly rather than stringing you along for months on end.

II 10 minutes ago. Was honestly expecting a rejection. So relieved, since this is the first one I've gotten. Interviewing January 15th! Good luck to everyone else, and try not to lose hope! I submitted mine and was marked complete like July 10th, so just because you haven't heard anything for a while doesn't mean you're out of the running!

Mind sharing stats?

3.3cGPA, 3.15sGPA, 34 MCAT, OOS, and currently in an SMP program

Congrats! Sigh, sometimes I don't understand this process. My grades were like yours, 3.33ucGPA, 3.19usGPS, 3.77gcGPA, 3.7gcGPA. MCAT was just a bit lower, that's all that's killing me here 🙁

Don't lose hope! I'm sure with that graduate GPA you'll definitely get interviews, and if not at Tulane, than at somewhere else! I also have kind of unique life experiences so that's probably what helped me get the interview with my low GPA

Oh no, I'm not worried. It's still early. I just remember seeing colleagues apply to med school last year and observing how strange the acceptances seemed to be. I could never predict who would get acceptances and who wouldn't.

Congrats and kill it!

Still waiting, have been complete since late July.

When will the pain end?

Does anyone know if they review an application after it's been marked complete but I still have a letter on AMCAS that needs to be uploaded?

Just submitted secondary. If interview dates are filled up until mid-Jan already and they only interview until Feb, was submitting a secondary here a waste of time?😕

I just submitted my secondary - when I designated Tulane in AMCAS I had it send all my letters to Tulane ... but it still has a red ! by the LOR line.

Here is what it says as well "No Letters of Recomendation have been submitted. (8/20/2015 11:22:15 AM)"

I added them on my AMCAS 2 days ago.

Does it just take them a while to receive them? Anyone else have this issue? All my other schools received my LOR's instantly.

I'm having this issue as well🙁

Seem like people verifying around 7/17 are starting to get rejection email.

*Anxiety skyrockets*

It can take a bit for them to download your letters. I've had instances where it took several days between my adding letters and a school's marking them all received. Don't panic yet.

Rejected just now. complete 7/9. Glad I already have some IIs or else this would be depressing. Oh well, NOLA, guess I'll have to save seeing you for Mardi Gras! I could almost taste those cafe du monde beignets 😢 Good luck to everyone else and congrats to those with interviews!
