2015-2016 Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I followed up with LTC Saguil after he sent out the wait-list update email. He said there's currently 20-25 applicants on the wait list for each branch and that the Navy tends to have the longest wait list each year, although last year the Navy list was only slightly longer than the Army list.

Obviously more people will be added to the list as the year goes on.

Cheers!

I am starting to get a little bit antsy to hear something back. It has been 9 weeks now since I interviewed. I am wondering if I should call admissions. I don't want to be that guy but it feel like it has been forever and it looks like a good number of people who interviewed after me are hearing back....

I've never been so anxious-- and i've been anxious.

I sent an email to my counselor asking for guidance on whether asking for guidance was acceptable. received response a week later with status.

How long after acceptance calls did you get anything in the mail?

Accepted AF 12/10; interviewed 11/5.
wow congratulations when did you get the call??
edit. scratch that. it's really not that curious as to why im not in medical school....

I was making a funny! of myself. just jkingggg BTW still haven't heard! I like no news best. its like... well I could get a call!??! you never know!? I just got a call from NJ and i knew it wasn't USUHS but I freaked out on the phone anyway. NJ is close!! getting warmer! kitten on track!

Has everyone else been getting random calls from random parts of the country since interviewing? I've had Alabama, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, and some other place. I don't say "Hello" when i pick up, so it's just silence and disconnection after a few seconds.

Random question, but why don't you say hello?

Also I've had a ton of random calls this year in general which makes waiting frustrating haha.

I assume it's telemarketing. haha. plus, to avoid feeling ridiculous when it's a recording.

I emailed the admissions office and they said that no decision had been made on my app yet. So I am going to assume that I am mostly likely on hold.

You interviewed 10/15?

Rejected just now, pre-interview. In order to get the point across, they sent the email several times. :nono:

Rejected today pre-interview. At least it was a nicely worded e-mail!!

With all of these pre-interview rejections today, I'm wondering if they are done giving out II's.

see everything filled up way more quickly this year. last year there was not even a wait list yet in december

There was a wait-list last year in December. On Dec. 12, 2014 a poster said that they got their wait-list letter.

A few people who interviewed 11/12 got acceptances last week. I interviewed on 11/17. So they have either reviewed my application, or waiting until after the holidays. It was a long shot, but I was hoping for a call this week.

i bet everyone who interviewed on october 29th knows exactly who I am.

10/29 interview. 12/19 hold letter. I will be sending a passionate update letter with some new ECs medical and military related. Does anyone know how many are typically taken off the hold list each year for the army?

Are you referring to the waitlist or being put on hold post-interview?

I can't answer for hold, but from my understanding (at least from when I applied last time around), Dr. Saguil said most people on the Army waitlist came off. So if that's what you're referring to, then you still should have a chance.

Good luck to you. I'm in your same boat (interviewed 10/15, waitlist notification 11/20), so hopefully we'll both hear some good news soon.

Hold is a very individual thing so I can't really guess. Unless you mean waitlist and in that case for army recently it's ranged from around 50 to 100% over the past few years.

ok I am taking volunteers: who's under the age of 25 and wants a monetary bribe to withdraw from the AF?

edit: it's ok, you are young. you have time. make room for the expiring uterus.
edit. i mean mcat

Someone who interviewed on 11/12 posted that they got an acceptance. So waitlist and hold letters are probably on their way.

is it strange that I haven't heard anything and I interviewed on 10/29?? Has anyone else who interviewed in October not heard back anything yet? I keep telling myself it's because they are going to call me but the call hasn't come... starting to FREAK OUT (shocking ... i know) does anyone else think it's freak out time (I mean in non-drkitten land?)??

I don't think so. Not yet anyways. When I interviewed on 10/15, we were told that we might not hear a decision until January because people would be away for Christmas and New Year's. I'd imagine the same idea would apply for you.

yes, lol but haven't you already heard back??? haha

Yes I did lol. And I was very pleasantly surprised by that.

With that in mind, 4-6 weeks out from your interview would take you through Thanksgiving and up to Christmas. I don't think adcom would make many (if any) decisions around either time period. So accounting for both of those weeks, you ought to be hearing something early January.

I know it's hard, but be patient and hope for the best. Maybe you have a late Christmas present waiting for you

does anyone know if the admissions office is operating during this time or are they all off?

edit: another way of saying: "what the hell is going on"
