Wishing you all the best of luck this week and I hope to see many more acceptances soon!

I hope so! Maybe they're building up the list so he can do a large batch of phone calls
This is probably true. There was a big batch of acceptances last Monday, and I'm pretty sure they didn't just decide all of those that day.

For anybody else who got accepted last Monday: Were you able to get yourself added to the Facebook group? I put in a request last Monday, but still haven't been added.

I'm in the same position.

Are there any current or former USUHS students out there that can answer some questions for me? I was wondering what parking is like on campus? Anyone who moved with dependents that can give advice on how to make that move as easy as possible?

You have little munchkins running around your household, USUHS will give you parking. They like...give out parking permits like candy. Single, unmarried with no dependents people like me however, have to volunteer as tribute and compete in the Hunger Games (actually a lottery) to get a parking pass.

As for moving with dependents...try to see if USUHS has given you a sponsor that you can contact. Usually your sponsor will be someone with a similar background as you. What branch are you? If you're Navy feel free to PM me and I can put you in contact with my classmate who moved with his family. Mind you it's our finals week for Neuro so he probably won't get back to you until this week ends.

Do they hand out free metro passes?

Does anyone live in NoVA and commute to USUHS? Or does everyone live nearby?

Yea, you can sign up for the DoD Mass Transport system which will deposit funds into your metro card for use to and from campus. Highly recommend to live somewhere along the Red Line because that's what I am doing.

Yea, I know of at least one of my classmates that commutes via metro from Arlington all the way to USUHS. It's a pain though, takes like 40 minutes to an hour to get to campus one way. I can't even comprehend using a car and the beltway to get to campus. Most of us live nearby. I'm also assuming you mean Northern Virginia haha, I've never seen NoVA used before.

Just emailed Dr. Saguil regarding wait list movement. He seemed really optimistic for movement this week and probably continuing into the next several weeks. There is still plenty of time for those of us still waiting : )
Best news I've heard all day!!! Keep your phones close!!!🙂

Are there any current students browsing that can give us an idea about acceptances and summer training? Like, how close before BOLC/ODT/COT before it's too late to attend?

That is great. He is so diligent with responding to his "students". He's awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I don't know much, but I have read that if you get accepted after officer training has started, you would start school with the rest of your classmates and the school will later find a moment between your medical training to send you off to get commissioned.

Uh...for the Navy...one of my buddies got the acceptance call a week before ODS began and he was at ODS with me. I think the Navy USUHS is more likely to tell you to drop everything you have planned for the summer and just go to ODS even if you don't have your orders (happened to me and that buddy I just mentioned). Air Force will more likely just tell you to not go if you do not have your orders and you'll probably go to COT some other time.

I must check this site 30 X a day! The wait is killing me- I need to find something else to do to pass the time other than be preoccupied with waiting to see who gets in and how fast the wait list is moving. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to all of us still waiting! RLTW!!!

I absolutely understand. I usually work inside the lab all day, but since I have been doing paperwork for the past 2 weeks I have had constant access to the computer which means that I probably check this forum every 20 minutes hahahahaha.

Im usually very cheerful and optimistic but today is a blue day for me so... Im really looking forward to some good acceptance stories here, hehe:clap:.

I know everyone is anxious for news, but I go crazy looking at this forum a ton of times every day and seeing no new posts.

So since everyone here is in/joining/willing to join the military, what do your fitness routines look like?

My usual routine prior to this semester and for a good portion of my active duty time as a SNCO:

Two to three workouts M-F, 1 long workout Sat, Sun off.
M-F: Early AM Cardio, Lunch - Lifting, Afternoon - Crossfit (M,W,F) and some sort pickup game on Thursday
Mon: Hills - 7-10 sprints up a steep hill nearby
Tue: Cycling 1hr
Wed: Endurance Run, 5-10miles
Thur: Stair Climber 30 min, 30 min Tabatas on elliptical
Fri: Alternate weeks: Speedwork/interval runs or timed 3mil run
Sat: 1.5hrs lifting, 30min on the stair climber or 3x 10min on elliptical/treadmill/bike followed by 1-2 hrs of leisure swim (dictated by however long my kid wants to swim)

My lifting routine alternates from month to month to prevent plateauing and my lifting partner typically runs since this I run the cardio and crossfit routines.

Currently all of this is on hold for MCAT study retake, school, and the new job.

Good question.Well, since I have been so busy lately I decided that my best approach would be practicing for what the PT test requires. So, pretty much making sure I keep up with my push-ups, running time...etc. Once things slow down a little for me then I will elaborate on that training to make it more varied and complete. How about you?

@CosmicGenes, I'm pretty much doing the same as you! I run every other day and on the other days I lift with some easy cardio like the elliptical or something. My routine feels inferior now, compared to Marine2MD's response, haha. Running is definitely my weakest point as far as the APFT is concerned so I try to really focus on that more than anything, but lifting is much more enjoyable!

I hear ya! My weakest area is definitely push-ups...:dead:.

@Unexciting it took me a long time to get into my routine. Age helped motivate me a lot. When I was young I just blew through everything and it didn't matter. My PT regiment changed significantly when I got picked up for special assignments again. If running is your weakest point, make sure you get to the point where you can run at least double your required distance so when it comes to PT time, that 1.5-2miles is a joke and you can push yourself harder.

@CosmicGenes try pyramid pushup routines. Will hurt like hell the next day or two but will significant increase your ability. 1 pushup roll right over and do 1 situp, roll back and do 2 pushups, 2 situps, 3 pushups....up to 15 pushups/situps, back down to 1. Start at a lower number, like 10 and then work your way up to 25 or so. Aim for being able to do a pyramid of 1/3 of your service max or a little over without stopping or any issues.

Edit: Ensure you are using good form.

I work out about 3-4 X a week. Most of my workouts are Gym Jones based.
I do about 3-4 cycles of a mix of different workouts without stopping or taking breaks, which includes kettlebell swings, snatches, and cleans with an 18 KG kettlebell, man-makers with 25 lbs dumbells, chin-ups, and 24" box jumps. It takes about 20-30 min to do the whole workout depending on how many cycles I do. I also do squats, Turkish get-ups, kettlebell swings, and box jumps for another workout. I also do a workout called 1775, which is 17 burpee chin-ups and 75 air squats for 4 cycles without a break in between cycles- you generally don't want to workout anymore after that so that's the workout.

Thanks for the advise! Will definitely look into it!

Not a fitness routine but this helped for push ups when i failed to allocate a block of time for fitness.
For those studying for MCAT, Boards, Finals..... If i stepped away from studying i did pushups, open the refrigerator - do push ups. Within a short time i was able to max the pushups for a pt test and i was able to increase my studying.

I do most of my pushups and situps during intermissions when I'm watching the hockey game!

I use to do this with going to the head (restroom) at work, except we did pullups instead of pushups (Marine Corps does pullups for 1 of their annual tests). The bar was setup in the hallway so you had to pass it coming into work, out of work, or to the head (restroom). Rule was every time you passed it, 5 pullups. Sucked so much as a young Marine since we had a locked door and I was the one who always had to answer it.
