Oh right.. i remember not being able to find out about 7 years of reserve and one activated. Any insights on how that conversion is made or wherei can find it?

The only thing I'd know to tell you talk to your finance people when you get there. I'm not prior-enlisted, but based on the experiences of classmates I'd be willing to bet your 1 year of activated time will count toward the "E" pay, it will definitely count as time in service. I'm not entirely sure how your reserve time counts toward your pay. I believe they do credit you points to retirement based on the document in the first link.

I'd hopefully be more helpful on non-pay related issues. But can't guarantee that either with all the changes that have happened since I graduated.

So my residency buddy is telling me his time in the reserves count towards his time in service for pay 1 to 1. He's also telling me if you get over 4 years of retirement points during the reserves that it will count for E-pay, and that your time in the reserves will count for points toward retirement

I'll definitely need to follow this up with finance. Thanks so much for your input.

Deleted comment. Noticed it was answered already.

So, how many O1-E's we going to have here? I know of myself and one other...

This is an accurate statement on both counts.

So it sounds like if i had 5 years of time served in reserves, then i should qualify for O1E--correct? 5 years time in service regardless of component?
No. You need over 4 years of active duty time. Each of your drill weekends counts as 4 days of active duty time. Your two week thing (don't remember what it's called) counts as 14 days. So a typical reservist gets about 62 days of active duty time per year. You need 1460 days of active duty to qualify for O1E. You still get 5 years of time in service towards your pay.

Ok so E eligibility is distinct from TIS and completely dependent on retirement points (which if i remember correctly is 1 point per day on duty). Have i got it now?

For the most part. I think you get some extra retirement points in the reserves that don't count towards active duty time, though (15 per year, I think).

I guess I'm just going to let them surprise me.

Thanks to everyone for input.

Echoing this statement, you have a maximum of 365 points a year. One point per day of active duty if you're on orders. You get 1 point per half day of drill/battle assembly/MDAY/whatever you call your weekends by component, and 15 participation points per year just for being in. You also get points for correspondence courses. Each point is the equivalent of one day of active duty. My only uncertainty is if you only get actual active duty days when they calculate constructive credit for your rank when you finish school. The DoD Instructions seem in indicate only actual active duty days count (versus points which is more inclusive).

So, I guess a flag and pass later? Just asking for a friend... you know.
You'll continue on to USUHS. You won't get one of your participation awards (whichever one you get for graduating your basic course). They'll make you take one in the first month or so that you're there and if you don't pass they'll do remedial PT

a certificate, i presume?

I believe you don't get the Army Service Ribbon until you successfully pass a PT test to complete your basic course. You'll still get the National Defense Service Ribbon. If you already have it from prior service you'll still have it obviously

Not my favorite rainbow...

My friend says he will definitely pass that pt test and; thanks, everyone for the encouragement.

Come on! I want some movement! At the same time, we are reaching the end of the "prime" admissions time. After May movement starts to decrease and people are getting ready for training and moving. Sweet and Sour.

I know! I just registered to take the mcat again, and spent another $100 on more study materials. I would love for an acceptance now, I think it would be the first time in my life I was happy about wasting $400

Yep, I know exactly what you mean. I actually have my MCAT for June 2nd... so lets see how this works.

Prior service here, well, still in technically. Air Force medic making the jump to Doc!
What day you interview? I interviewed with a medic on November 5th...

Absolutely! Though my hopes for this cycle are decreasing as this month ends 🙁.

Hang in there cosmic and unexciting. Still potential for movement!

Thank you! I talked to Dean Saguil yesterday and feel very confident on my next steps regardless if its for this cycle or the next. Good luck you everyone!

The application process can be so brutal sometimes, but you have the right attitude! Hang in there. USUHS is a great place and don't give up if it is where you want to be. Whichever way it works out for you, just remember that you're going to make one great doctor. Best of luck and hope to see you around USUHS soon enough!!

Does anyone know when and how orders might arrive for those of us accepted last month? We've got about 2 week before army bolc and it sure would be nice to not have to put faith in the paperwork gods all the time.

I think Margaux Auslander handles army orders and commissioning, I received an email from her earlier in the cycle. Maybe you could email her to find out? She might let you know if you'll get them in time so you can prepare for BOLC.

Thank you so much! I wish you all the best as well! USUHS is indeed a great place... I cant wait to be around!

I was just told that this summer's BOLC has been closed to any more students, so if you haven't gotten orders yet or haven't gotten a confirmation about your space in BOLC, you may not be able to attend it this summer

My orders apparently needs amendment because no fund cite?

What exact message did you receive that told you it had no fund cite? If it was "Subject to availability of funds" that's a safe clause that's used to avoid Anti-Deficiency Act violations and is not a concerning item. If someone actually told you there's no line of accounting/fund cite, then DFAS won't be able to initiate your pay (or reimburse travel expenses if you're not using DTS for travel) until the amendment is processed.
