Waitlisted at the JMP program. This one stung... a lot. I really fell in love with the JMP program. I guess the feeling wasn't mutual. :/

Anyone know if there's a chance more decisions will come out next week since Christmas Eve is already on Thursday? Has anyone gotten a decision today on a Saturday?

Also waitlisted for JMP... via email from Irma on the 18th. I'm abroad, so I didn't see it for two days though, and it definitely saddened my last night in London. This is hands down my #1 choice and I'm hoping hard for good news over the next few weeks/months.

Definitely do keep your hopes up! One year ago today, I was waitlisted at UCSF... and yet here I am, happily an MS1 at this very same school! UCSF really does have great waitlist movement - I know a handful of people of people in my class who got in off the waitlist, and I bet it'd be more if that didn't come up so rarely. I know this is a giant bummer, but it's not the end of the road.

Wishing you both the best in the future!

Same story here! Don't lose hope.

Hey guys! Don't loose hope on the waitlist! I was waitlisted last year and got in as well. Keep your chins up! I'm sure we will be seeing some of you at Accepted Students Weekend 🙂

Does anyone have any idea on how many students are admitted from the waitlist?

I had to share my condolences with my friend last week. He got s a rejection from UCSF with a 524 and 4.0 gpa. I was shocked that it happened. I thought it doesn't matter if you do not have extracurricular activities because it'd just extra! 🙁

ouch - clearly looking for something specific.. was this pre or post interview (or secondary)?

Congrats!!! :highfive:

By the way, do you know if the offer form on the portal is just for holding our seat in the class?

EDIT: Called admissions and they confirmed that accepting the offer = holding your seat. That sounds kind of obvious in retrospect but the lingo was different from other schools so just wanted to make sure 😛

Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted! Has anyone interviewed on November 19th and heard back yet? They told us we'd hear back in January, but it would be SUCH a nice holiday season surprise if we got to hear sooner! *fingers crossed*

Waitlisted, but not complaining with a better offer on the table. Not bad for being asked about my race, religion, family plans, and political views on controversial subjects, and basically every other landmine in the UCSF interview. Surprised they haven't filtered interviewers like that out.

Good to know! By chance do you remember when you were pulled off the wait list and accepted? Thank you !

The exact date is on my mdapps, but it was in March. The vast majority of waitlist movement happened May and later, though, I believe.
I read IA as institutional action and became insanely curious and then realized it was interview attended. lol derp derp

Haha, nope, no institutional actions here! 🤣 There are too many overlapping acronyms in this process...

Anyone have any luck with pre-interview/post secondary updates? Complete 11/17. I have a pretty significant update that I'd like to have added to my application file.

Does anyone know whether in-the-area emails are tolerated here?

Can someone remind me if UCSF waits until they have decisions from all the program committees that you applied to before letting you know or if it comes out as it's decided? (Interviews)

Looks like there's open dates for Feb 25, Feb 29, and March 1. Does anyone know if interviewing late in the cycle is a considerable disadvantage? Not accounting for the fact thatthe most competitive/desirable applicants get II's earlier on and are more likely to be accepted, that is.

Of course it is a disadvantage but ain't nothing you can do about it now

Rejected. Complete 12/8. The email doesn't exactly clarify if it is for all three programs (MD/JMP/PRIME), or just MD, but I think it's all 3.

edit: Office confirmed that it is for all three programs. 🙁

Sorry to hear this. 🙁 JMP should be separate, I think, unless it says JMP in your email. I called and asked after I got my UCSF rejection and I was told the admissions committees are separate. But I still haven't heard anything from JMP myself so I'm still kinda in the dark about how their process works...

So sorry bear! 🙁

Thanks both. Very disappointing but I guess I shouldn't be surprised given MSAR and USnews data for internationals. Although the secondary gave me hope

+ 1, complete around the same time. At least the rejection letter was nicer/more considerate than most...
