How many OOS applicants have been successful this cycle? I'm hoping I have a shot at this school and my wife would be happy as she is beyond ready to make a permanent residence in Florida.

For a state school they seem very open to Oos students as a means for increasing diversity. I've heard of a fair bit of OOS success including myself.

Agreed! I am another OOS success story. I love Florida as well, and from what I have seen, OOS students are definitely well-represented at UCF compared to other public schools in FL.

Yeah I remembered they said something like 25 or 30% of the class are from OOS, which is different than the 10% at most state schools.

I hope they have room for one more.

So I can dance like this John Travolta clone.:diebanana:

For those who got accepted, does the acceptance email say we have to send both the crf and the residency classification form within two weeks? I think I misunderstood and only send in the crf. Ah!!!!!

I think they absolutely need the CRF within the two weeks to reserve your seat...just send in the residency form ASAP? Or maybe call admissions! I think you'll be fine though lol.

Hey man thanks for the reply. I emailed admissions and REL replied at 7 in the night (how awesome, right?). Yup, he told me they just need the CRF in two weeks!

He and Laurel really are the best! Glad it worked out! 🙂I sent my residency form after my CRF too, I just don't remember how long it took me haha.

Just checked the site. EFI! It might not seem like much to many, but I am stoked! The possibility of learning at a school which also has strong research background is the best update yet.

I am refreshing UCF's site a few times each day hoping for an update. LOL

I missed a call from a 407 number, and now I'm paranoid that I missed my interview invite. Did I?

I missed my call and they promptly sent an email for me to call them. So if you don't see an email you didn't miss a call. Oh they also left a message.

Thank you so much!

@REL , I was wondering if we submitted our primary applications before the deadline, is it reasonable to submit the secondary application at this point if our MCAT score barely meets the minimum (between 495 and 500)? I would say all other aspects of my application are fairly competitive. I've been debating between going ahead and submitting the secondary or just waiting until the next cycle after I retake the MCAT. I've been fearing worsening my chances of acceptance next cycle if I submit this cycle so late. Your advise would be extremely appreciated as to whether I should submit for a chance of acceptance or definitely apply 1st thing next cycle with a stronger application (and not waste money on this cycle's application fee as well). Thank you REL in advance!

@REL Is UCF receptive to calling or emailing our intent? I have been AORTA for several months now and in the interim have been interviewed and been accepted to several medical schools. UCF is one of my top in state schools and if accepted, I would be able to stop paying for these other interviews and to hold seats. Do they look poorly upon calling or emailing?

just got the call from REL today... middle 1/3 of not yet accepted list... IS LIZZY 70. Hopefully can get in eventually, because it is my top choice, but good luck to everyone else interviewing. UCF is awesome

You are welcome to send an email regarding your honest interest in obtaining an interview and why that is true.

Okay, thank you for your response!

Loved this school during the interview and so excited and honored to come here next year. August 1st can't come soon enough!

Also, for those out there with less than perfect scores, I hope that this serves as an encouragement:

I am a non-trad, GPA 3.65, Mcat 30 (12/8/10) - which is waaay below the UCF average. To compensate for the meh scores, I did lots of research, volunteering, and enrolled in an MS program. I have a true passion for medicine and community service and I think that it truly showed in my app.

Wish everyone best of luck. You guys can do it!

Just to provide another data point, my app for UCF was complete on 10/6 and I was offered an interview on 11/18. My interview is tomorrow morning (12/4). I'm IS, LizzyM of 76. Hope to see some of you tomorrow morning! Excited to see what UCF has to offer.

There interview day is amazing!! Every one is so welcoming and informative. I was really impressed.

This is how I feel too, haha! Congrats fellow future Knight! 🙂

I am so excited! The next 4 years are going to be wonderfully challenging and I couldn't imagine a better place to spend them. Everyone seemed so supportive and encouraging during the interview. I heard that they even help you develop a study plan that works with your schedule and everything. I mean who else does that??! 🙂

I cannot imagine a better place to attend medical school, not a better group of people to do it with than all of you. That makes my decision to withdraw my acceptance all the more heart-wrenching. It is something that has to be done because of my current active duty status and a snafu with the timing for approval and submission of the military paperwork to attend medical school (an administrative error by someone else, but something not correctable...).

I wish all of you the best and hope that one of you waiting on here gets my spot. If anyone is interested in military medicine and having them pay for your medical school, please feel free to contact me about the Health Provider Scholarship Program (HPSP) which is the same for all 3 services (Navy, Army, Air Force). I have acquired a wealth of information on this and can also talk to you about what life is like in the military (including for doctors) if any of you have questions.

I wish you all the best and hope that in the future I can realize my dream to become a doctor.

Noooooooo, so sorry to hear that Glycereine, as a vet I have run into paperwork snafus but nothing on the level as life changing as this. BTW brother you don't need to hope you are going to get in again and become that great doctor.

Been EFI for quite some time now. Perhaps I'll send an update.

Couldn't you defer by a year and resubmit the paperwork? I can hardly imagine that any administrative error would be impossible to correct or work around. I heard that UCF is awesome at working with each individual and allows to defer if you run into some kind of unforeseen/extraneous circumstances.

Eh? This is the military s/he's talking about. There are absolutely things that can occur that make it impossible to work around (until you get out, anyway).

But yes - I'd recommend Glycereine trying to get a deferral, if possible.

Yes, I agree. I meant that there must be a way for him/her to attend med school even if it's a year later, and not have to withdraw the acceptance all together.

After speaking with REL I'm holding onto it for now! He's just awesome and helpful. But yeah my problem is the Navy, not UCF at all.

I'm so sorry to hear about this whole snafu but I'm glad to hear that you are at least holding onto it for now, just in case you get lucky and the issue sorts itself out. I'm hoping for you!

Haven't checked in here in a while but I randomly received an interview invite about a week ago after being complete here very early! I will be withdrawing my application due to an awesome offer elsewhere, so hopefully the interview goes to one of you! This school looks absolutely awesome. Best of luck to you all!

I've been EFI for about a month...anyone know around what time frame they will get back to me? whether interview or not

You could be EFI from September until interviews are over, so it just depends. I know that isn't what you want to hear, sorry.

Hi all! I sincerely hope the interview season is going well for each and every one of you. As a second year student here at UCF, I am very happy and pleased with the curriculum and just life in general here at our COM. I'm sure all of you are spectacular people and hope to meet you during your interviews! 🙂

The following article was published last month after our school won national recognition by the AAMC for having a stellar student advising program. One of our founding faculty members also won one of the teaching awards as well. Feel free to read about it here: https://med.ucf.edu/news/2015/11/med-school-honored-by-aamc/

Just another couple of reasons for you all to come join us here and build the Medical City!

Interviewing here on Fri Jan 22nd, excited to visit!
OOS (Seattle, WA).

Anyone going to be in town (Orlando) on Thu Jan 21st to meet up for a little tour?

I believe another update is on its way for those of us on the wait list! It's about 4 weeks since the last one. I imagine it'd be after the holidays though. Interested to see the total number on the wait list at this point.
