2015-2016 University of Central Florida Application Thread

The more I look at this school, the more I love it! Please give me an II UCF 🙂

If you're EFI, I'm assuming they won't send you a formal rejection until all the interview dates have been given out? Or...is it that they'll review the files again and then choose who to interview? Haven't received an II yet but also know that if I panic now, I'm possibly just being neurotic... !

It seems from what I've read and what REL has said:

Once in the EFI "pool" your application will be reviewed each week (or so) when the admissions committee is determining the next set of invites to send out. This will continue until interviews are over. So yes I would suspect that you won't receive a rejection if you are EFI until the cycle is essentially over.

That's a lot of applications (~3000) to review each week @_@ I do not envy adcoms. OTH I have been glued to my phone and email 🙂

so it's been about 15 days and now when I log in it no longer says "your application is under review". It doesn't say anything at all except the instructions and all of my materials checked as submitted/complete. Is this bad?

REL commented on this a while back but periodically the system hiccups as an update is occurring. You should see your status again in a couple minutes.

Check it again. The status was probably refreshing at the time you checked it.

Excellent. I'm home sick from work today so I'm available to receive this call. Just saying.

Do they give out II each week? Oh please please please give me an II!

I think I'll continue to hope and wish until October-November. How many dates have been given out?

@Glycereine you may have posted this before, but I don't remember: when did you submit and EFI? Also how much research have you done?

Anyone else scrambling to get the 2 character references submitted? Everything is in but those, apparently everything in my letter packet was academic focused :/ Hoping it doesn't put me too behind, UCF is one of my top choices!

congratulations 🙂

This is my number 1 and hearing others getting II is giving me heart palpitations.
And as I am writing this my phone started ringing… it was a telemarketer. RUDE

Story of my life! I'm obsessively attached to my phone, and I get calls from area codes that I don't recognize..and I get SUPER excited. Only to pick up and tell them that they're offering me a free alarm system for my (nonexistant) house as long as I put a sticker in the front of my door.....

I've done a lot of research. I was quite selective which schools I applied to. I like UCF VERY much.

That is pretty awesome. I hear UCF likes a lot of research which I don't have a lot of… so we shall see.
Congratulations again though!

Oh I misunderstood the question! I haven't done any published research since 2005 and that was not even remotely medical related. I thought you meant researching the school.

No worries, I understand the confusion. 🙂

Noooooooooooo!!!! NO! NO! NO!:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

I am not a smart man. I'm currently waiting for "AORTA" to review my file to mark me as EFI or not eligible, so thought I'd check this thread. After reading this first page, I've realized how horribly I messed up. For the essay question, I very stupidly skimmed the question, thought it was another short answer, and I put in a small blurb and submitted. Its only after I came to this thread and that saw someone write: "That secondary tho...
2 pages, single spaced " that I realized my failure of epic proportions. I literally wrote a short paragraph, and not even a good one given the context of the question..... This sucks, I really like everything this school. Should I kiss any chance I had goodbye now?

I know once you've submitted you cant change your secondary, but do you guys think it would be a good idea to email the admissions office, telling them I've messed up, and attach an actual essay? @REL , thoughts?

I mean, it can't hurt to ask. I personally wouldn't write an essay unless I knew for sure they would take it. Especially because it seems unlikely they would. Good luck though and sorry that happened. Hopefully you can do something about it.

Damn. Still pretty upset at myself, I decided to write one anyways and I'm gonna send it over. If they don't accept it at least I'll know I tried. : /

Congratulations!

I know you weren't asking me but...They didn't really list all of the available dates. They just asked if the date they have you scheduled for works for you. I know 3 people with IIs so far though and mine is scheduled the latest on 10/9, so I would assume there are still plenty of slots open in mid to late October!

Thanks! Just trying to hold out hope for an II still after being EFI late july. 🙂

Tempted to send them an in the area email since I live so close.

Thank you so much! Good luck to you and I hope it all comes out well for you! *sings "We're all in this together"*

@REL, does it make any sense for a non-trad to submit a late app to UCF at this juncture? My app would likely not be complete until mid-October. I know that applying as early as possible is the best way to go, but I would like to know if an app complete in mid-October is dead in the water just because of timing.

If it helps, I have about a 3.7 undergrad GPA, science GPA is about that or maybe a little higher. I am finishing a master's degree earlier than I expected and would love to catch the tail end of this cycle. UCF is my number 1 choice (I'm in-state).

Tough question, what is your mcat score? Applying late makes it substantially more difficult to get in...

Still waiting on my score (hence the late app), but I was consistently testing at 515+ on practice exams.
