2015-2016 University of Chicago (Pritzker) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think only people who were continued before have heard back up until now. Do guys think they have reviewed all interviewees by now? Even February interviewees?

Do all the calls go out at once? Or are they staggered over a few hours?

losing hope by the second.. come on Pritzker!! Love me!

EDIT: Andddd... continued... lol

They are not automated, and the number of accepted students is certainly greater than the number in the admissions staff, so I feel they literally must be staggered. Plus, history shows that is the case with pretty much every school that calls. Good luck!!

Continued as well. I'm hesitant to contact admissions for the next couple days because they're probably swamped. Does anyone know when the official waitlist forms/when they announce where we stand on it?

Continued :/. Interviewed the end of November.

To the brand new continues, when did you guys interview? I have a feeling they might not have gotten to reviewing everyone. Edit: early jan, late jan, feb, etc.

Doubt that's the case. They said in the email that our applications have gone through "an initial evaluation".

To answer my own question from earlier, the waitlist isn't formed until June. This is gonna be a long spring...

Continued. Interviewed early January. Here's a question for everyone: Is it unlikely to be awarded merit scholarship if accepted off the WL?

This is purely speculation, but I'd guess yes. If we were competitive enough to have a chance at a merit scholarship, I'd think that'd mean we would have already been accepted.

Is I just me or does there seem to be a lot of continued people this time around?

And...the wait continues as the Pritzker train takes off...and I realize I don't have a ticket...D:

Interviewed late Jan.

I was thinking that, but no-one from mid January onwards has reported an acceptance yet.

So if we are currently continued- we won't hear from Pritzker again until June with a possibility of a waitlist spot then?

The letter says they can make their decision at any point in the future. Rejections probably come sooner than acceptances, but if you check last year's thread, I think a couple offers went out between mid-Feb and June.

Granted, their pseudo-rolling timeline is new this year (I think) so everything could be different for us.

Decisions have been released approximately every two months since October. I'd hope that means there may be some communication in April. June would be a very long wait before even getting a waitlist position. I'd imagine that much time without feedback may cause some people to just withdraw...

Well that's definitely good news. Glad to hear that.

Third time joining the continued crew. Not very optimistic at this point, but I like how being "continued" still offers even a little bit of hope compared to an outright "rejected" status. I just wish we were given more specific dates after February 22nd by which to expect a final decision of some sort.

P.S. Congrats to all those accepted! That's super exciting 🙂

So has no one been rejected post interview, just continued or accepted?

Unless things have changed for this year, applicants are seldom rejected post-interview. The only time that's the case is if someone is particularly concerning.

However, applicants that are continued really are reviewed regularly. There is typically a slow period until about April or so when movement of continued applicants usually picks up. It's a year to year thing, though, so sometimes there may be no movement at all while other years there may be lots of movement.

Again, though, this is based on previous years and may not be accurate as things have changed quite a bit with the new admissions director.

For those of you that got full tuition, did they tell you full tuition or did they give you a $ amount and you're interpreting that as full tuition?

In the past, there was a distinct difference between full tuition and a dollar amount which appears to cover full tuition. Full tuition will cover increases in tuition which are almost guaranteed to happen. Dollar amounts which appear to cover full tuition will not, thus they aren't truly full tuition when taking into account changes in the price of tuition in the future.
