Would anyone who got a status update be willing to share where/when they interviewed?

Final decision/additional correspondence, interview 10/19!

Interviewed late oct, still decision pending.

Does this mean I'm waiting until next month's meeting?

Usually yes, but pcrfiend got an acceptance package despite the decision pending status so it is a mystery...

Yeah I mean it's just as I said lol. I interviewed on 9/23, checked my status when all the other kids around my interview date got final decision tabs, and my status said "decision pending" so I assumed I got pushed back. But my parents informed me my acceptance package was sent to my home address (I'm elsewhere), so they sent it to me and then I turned my stuff in. Just checked again and my status is still "decision pending." So I dunno, just providing the data 🙂

Just checked my status and it looks like they made a final decision (+ additional correspondence) on 11/20. Interviewed on 11/5 in Chicago.

I haven't lurked on the thread in a while so I don't know what's been asked already, but does anyone know how receptive UIC is to applicants sending in updates after they interview?

I called the office about this and they do not accept any post-interview updates (including LORs) unfortunately 🙁

They didn't ask me about what I was doing during my gap year and I didn't get a chance to bring up the stuff I've been up to since I submitted my app.... :scared:

Aha yeah I wanted to tell them that I started taking a community college course for the sole purpose of fulfilling their behavioral health prereq and the lady told me that they don't accept any kinds of updates and that they wouldn't even look at the transcript unless I'm accepted.
I think for future reference it's okay to talk about what you've been up to if they ask a "tell me about yourself" type of question.

This is probably overly optimistic but think there's any chance we'll get our packets this week?

Yeah, but a few people have gotten rejected despite getting the additional correspondence tab
I think it's too early to get rejected tbh, unless the interview went really bad, so more likely than not, that means you're in!

Final Decision today, no correspondence. Ouch. Will let you guys know of the outcome for certain once I get the letter.
Honestly feel it's a weird time for them to update though since everyone got updates a week ago. Anyone else get an update today?

I did. Just saw it today.

So... If I am still "Applicant in progress" since July (IS) and pretty good stats and app (4 other II's)... Does that mean my app still has not been looked at by the initial reviewer? I'm just confused why it's taking this long

It said: A final decision was made on your application on . Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone. There was no additional correspondence tab. I didn't think they did post interview rejections this early but I'm assuming they do.

Would you mind sharing?

Man, what a drag. Well I'll update once I get the letter.

Has anyone who interviewed anywhere other than Chicago received the additional correspondence/ final decision? And if so, when did you interview? I interviewed end of October, but I saw someone posted on here who interviewed beginning of November in Chicago who got the tab/ final decision. So I don't really get what kind of order they are going in, and makes me think that they reviewed people who interviewed in Chicago first?

OR, I wonder if this admissions committee that meets, if its just one committee meeting in Chicago? Or are there different committees for every location? Because maybe people who got the tab all interviewed in Chicago, and the others haven't met yet/ don't really care to do updates online?

Clearly I'm trying to make sense of my lack of update lol

UIC reviews app out of order. They probably start reviewing people with the highest LizzyM, URM/veteran status/other hook etc first and work their way down.

Hold on... UIC sends acceptance/rejection via snail mail?????
Yes they do. I'm a re-applicant and got a snail mail rejection the day after Thanksgiving last year lol

I got the same message but was accepted so the extra tab is apparently not a deal breaker 🙂

Thin envelope received. Worried it would be a surprise rejection, but turned out to be a scholarship offer w/o official acceptance letter. Lol.

Wait...you got your snail-mail package already?
I applied MSTP, so that program sent me a separate letter via email. But I still got a status update on the portal the same day as I got my MSTP letter with the "a decision has been made..." Since you can't be rejected from MD and accepted MSTP, I'm guessing something is coming in the mail eventually!

That's awesome! Way to go!

I interviewed on their first interview day and my LizzyM is only 68 (non URM) so I don't think they select "top" applicants first. 2 of the 3 interviewers (one of them an admissions officer) kept mentioning how I was a well-rounded applicant so they could be choosing from a holistic approach and not necessarily the stellar stats applicants first. I also don't have any research experience or significant medical involvement so who knows what they're looking for...

Interviewing in Chicago on Mon Dec 11th! OOS (Washington State).
Anyone else interviewing that same day?

LizzyM 74 (with MCAT taken in 2012, not sure how to calculate using the new MCAT...).

Just to be clear you got the final decision status but did not have the additional correspondence tab and was accepted correct?

When was this if you dont mind my asking?
The interview was 11/02 but the status update was last Friday I think. I interviewed specifically for MD/PhD so the time frame could be different but it seems like the info in the portal is the same!

Accepted!
IS, fat package received (decision + additional correspondence), interviewed 11/05 Chicago.

Does anyone know if the AMCAS Fee Waiver is different from the UIC Fee Waiver? My portal shows a Y for the former and an N for the latter. I've been verified for a while and it still shows "applicant in progress."
