2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From earlier in this thread:

(A) "Application in Progress" = You are complete.
(B) "Applicant in Process" = Your file is being reviewed.
(C) "Application in Process" = You are not good enough to grant an interview yet, but might be later on in the cycle.

I'm currently option (B) and have been completed for a while as well. It seems like the switch from "applicant" to "application" is a negative thing, but not positive on that. I guess we will see...still clinging on to hope lol.
Do you know the difference between Applicant in Progress and Application in Progress?

No idea. I know all this by this thread, so I may call the office to see what my status is soon.
As an "applicant in process," I called the office this morning and they said it meant I would hear "a decision" in the next week or so. So by decision, I guess they mean interview or rejection? Do people get rejected pre-II here?

So then what does applicant in progress mean?

So then what does applicant in progress mean?

I called admissions a couple weeks ago and the lady that answered had no idea what the difference between applicant in progress and applicant in process was. She told me I just have to wait.

It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

Mine now says "Application is in Process," is the consensus that this is bad? 🙁

No, sorry but why do people keep asking this? This question has been answered so many times throughout this thread, including on this very page.
I mean bad as in not getting an II right now lol, I guess I was asking if anyone noticed seeing that and then getting an II relatively soon.

Well the committee definitely met today, because mine just changed from applicant to application. Wish it was an II...

I guess I'm gonna treat this as a hold. Worth it to pre-II update?

Excellent! I am excited. I can't find one single resource the discusses the specifics of the interview. Here is what I have gathered so far...

1) Interview takes place in front of a panel of rural healthcare practitioners that are affiliated with UIC-Rockford.
2) The panel asks questions about the interviewees background and why they want to pursue rural medicine.
3) The interview is not necessarily formatted like other UIC interviews and is very open-ended.
4) The interview lasts ~30 mins and then attendees are encouraged to talk with other applicants, RMED students and faculty.
5) Applicants are free to leave whenever they feel like they have a sufficient understanding of the programs purpose.
6) Applicants will be informed the same evening (or shortly after) if they will be invited to participate in the program.
7) Final confirmation will be provided by UIC's main ADCOM. (~75% post-interview acceptance rate is pretty amazing!!)

Am I missing anything?

Here are a list of resources that I have found helpful.

Have you found any other info on the program and/or interview process besides what is listed above? I am specifically looking for info about past interview experiences. Anything you could add would be much appreciated!

What time slot do you on have Friday? I am at 11:30.

Wow!! You are so informed! I don't know of anything that you haven't listed here! 😀 My slot is at 1 on Friday.

Nope they don't accept any updates, even if you're invited to an interview. I was just told by their admissions rep that I can't speak about my updates during my interviews... Uhh? That's unfortunate that some pretty substantial achievements over the past few months are going to go unnoticed...

In state, 3.3, 37, and got an ii last week. Applied mid November

And no updates of any kind.

Anybody know how long it takes to hear back about campus placement?

I am an IS applicant...LizzyM - 68... had my secondary marked as complete on 8/31. I am trying to access my secondary through the link where I first submitted it but for some reason it keeps telling me that the application is closed. Well, I had my application turned in already. Any idea what might be the problem or is it that nobody can access their application anymore? Please help...still waiting for the II :|

It's a separate portal for checking your status. Don't worry, I couldn't find it for a long time too! Hoping you find a good status hiding in there!

Lol telling med school applicants to censor their achievements during the interview... gl with that.

My portal today says "applicant in progress," now I'm racking my brain to remember if I was ever "application in progress" or has it always been "applicant in progress." Pretty sure I've never been in "process." hmmmmmmmm

IS?

They told me awhile ago it would be "soon" that I would go into process. No such luck yet.
Yes IS. Probably got the change a week or two ago. I just gave up and stopped checking lol

I don't believe they go back to in progress after in process. Usually they decide whether to offer you an II, reject you or put you on hold (application in process?)

Does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is? Usually they meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month but since they met last Thursday (1st Thursday of the month) will they push the next meeting off till the 4th Thursday?

Yea I'm aware of that, I was trying to figure out if there's a difference between "applicant" or "application." I don't think anyone knows...

Has anyone from the December batch of acceptances heard about site placement yet? I'm kinda paranoid that my "YES!!!" letter to them got lost in the mail or something

At my interview on 1/11, they said we would hear back by the end of the month, which means they will likely meet next week, assuming a week for snail mail.

You can actually check your status page and it will tell you if your acceptance agreement and deposit was received! 🙂
