Well if the process holds true with this cycle, then does that mean that anyone still with decision pending can only be rejected or waitlisted at this point? 🙁

N. On or After May, 2 Possible Status Changes:
1. "Final Decision Made ... " You are (very likely) rejected. --> Goto X.
2. "Applicant is Waitlisted" = Waitlisted. --> Goto Y.

X. "Final Decision Made ..." = Rejection ... Wait for a "Thin Letter" via snail-mail.

Y. "Applicant is Waitlisted" = Waitlisted. ... The CBC Email no longer acts as an indicator of an acceptance. If you get accepted off of the waitlist, then Goto Z, else Goto X.

Z. "Final Decision Made ..." + "Additional Correspondences" Tab + CBC Email = (very likely) Acceptance ... Wait for a "Fat Packet" via snail-mail. [Note: Sometimes CBC emails come after the packet. CBC emails also might never arrive if you got an acceptance to another school that also does CBC through AMCAS.]

I mean, in theory I'm assuming some people will get accepted from the meeting this week. So I'd say anyone who is decision pending after Friday has been wait listed.

If we are to believe what they are saying, nobody will be decision pending after Friday, or whenever they update the portals. They say they're making decisions on everyone.

Okay so I guess the question is, will anyone be accepted on Thursday, or will everyone either be WL or rejected?

I haven't the foggiest. I've scoured last year's thread because I'm a sad man on a desperate mission and the "decision pending" limbo doesn't seem to make any appearances. If I were a betting man, I would say that people will get accepted on Thursday. Throughout the whole year, we have seen people get accepted several decision dates after their interview. Plus they have a whole month of fresh interviews that need to be looked at.

If everyone who is decision pending will have something in the mail by April 30th, it doesn't make sense for the meeting to take place on the 28th
What I'm wondering is, if they're really not meeting until next week, the 28th, there's no way it's true that we'll hear something in the mail by April 30th like someone said we would.
that's exactly what I've been thinking!

They didn't say we would receive envelopes in the mail by the 30th, they said they would be making decisions by the 30th.

I'm pretty sure someone said they called and was told that people still at decision pending would get something in the mail by April 30th...

It would be kind of tough to put people in a position on April 30th if they know they got into UIC, but not which campus. That would make the traffic day rough for people to have to make a decision without a campus placement.

I agree, I'm just sayin', someone called and was told what I just quoted.

I would go to a satellite campus in the Cook County Jail if they let me in.

Speaking of campus placement, how is that handled for the wait list? Do they tell you right away which campus you'd be going to when they accept you?

Reading last year's thread, they tell you which campuses are open and you have a finite amount of time to pick. Oftentimes it's only one that's open. I do think that if any of us get into Chicago, it would be off the waitlist because I reckon most if not all of those spots are probably occupado by now.

Did anyone hear anything from GMED, UMED, IMED interviews or if they will be having more?

My status page was updated today like this:

Is this what the additional correspondence looks like? Very excited!!!!!

My status page has changed to "A final decision was made on. Please allow....." They left out the date and no additional correspondence tab. 🙁

Don't panic yet, I think there was someone who just got Final Decision and got accepted.

What the heck UIC 😡 Anyone else still at decision pending?

that's what they told me. called last week and tuesday and they said call back on thursday. called thursday and they said the committee meets later that day and that I should receive something by april 30th. really frustrated other ppl are being told something different

Yep! Congrats!!!
Yes finally! I can finally stop worrying about a reapplication.

I am from Wisconsin, and only familiar with the Chicago area. Would someone be willing to describe the lifestyle and surrounding community of the Rockford and Peoria campuses, since Chicago is most likely filled up by now?

For everyone still waiting please stay encouraged, this is my third application cycle. The first time I had zero interviews. It's been a longgggg road. I graduated at 21 & thought it was the end of the world bc I had no interviews. But I did a Postbacc program and retook the MCAT & gave it my all. Please stay encouraged & I pray everyone gets accepted to at least one school. Don't give up!

@Lannister Yup still decision pending for me....I am convinced they have permanently placed me there for all of eternity o-(-<

I think they're doing the new interviews first, then they'll probably move on to those who are in decision pending. Also if I have to see the words "decision pending" or any variation of "waitlist" again I may have to kill someone.

Has anyone on this thread been given a conditional acceptance and told to do the SPP Summer Premarticulation Program? I wonder if that is something they invite people to at the end of the cycle or on a rolling basis?

Why the heck would they go backwards if it's rolling admissions

That wouldn't be going backwards. The people who interviewed earlier have already had a chance to be accepted, and they decided not to accept them outright.

Anyone who just got accepted/is waiting for a decision, also has acceptances elsewhere? How do you plan to decide on whether to go to UIC over those other schools without knowing your campus assignment?

Personally, I've got 2 other acceptances and it's going to be really, really tough. UIC Chicago campus would be the runaway winner, but if choosing between my other acceptances and Peoria/Rockford I'm leaning toward my other schools but without any conviction. I have no idea what I am going to do if I get an acceptance here before April 30. I'm almost wishing to be put on the waitlist in the off chance that I get pulled from it later, likely with a firm campus offer at the same time to make the decision with all necessary information.

Honestly, I was extremely impressed with Peoria's facilities. Between the two hospitals, there's something like 990 beds, and they have pretty much everything other than burns, heart transplants, and liver transplants. The school also really sold the fact that because we're the only medical school in Peoria, we get a lot of extra attention from residents/attendings, and get more responsibilities than you might elsewhere. One of the M4s I spoke with actually was a primary on a C-section during her Ob/gyn Sub-I. Also we have the Jump Trading Simulation Centre, which is another pretty amazing resource. All in all, I definitely had some hesitation about Peoria before Second Look Day, but now I'm totally sold on it.

How does the campus selection work?
You send back a card with your rankings on it, and then you're assigned a site based on your rankings. You rank the UPR track and the Chicago track, I and II. Then, you rank between Peoria and Rockford.

So, if UPR is your first choice, you could either have Peoria or Rockford as I, and then the other as II, and then Chicago has to be III. If you rank Chicago as I, then Rockford and Peoria are II or III.

someone said last week that the committee will meet on the 28th. Today, after decisions came out, another says that the committee met last week. Both people claimed they called the office on the same day (Thursday). What happened?

I think it's pretty disrespectful to people waiting on their toes, to deliver unreliable information like that.. considering amount of posts they post and attention they pay to here..

I called last Thursday and I was told that they would meet this Thursday the 28th. However, my portal says a decision was made today. so maybe they met today... I'm not sure. I hope you get good news soon!

for those who received "additional correspondence" today - when did you interview?
i interviewed 3/25 and not sure when to expect any notice. have to put down deposits elsewhere and i'd rather save some money if possible...

I also interviewed 3/25. My page updated today.

Interviewed 4/08 and portal was updated to "final decision made WITHOUT the additional correspondence tab". Definitely feeling low as of now. But best wishes to those who did get accepted.
