2015-2016 University of Illinois Application Thread

For those that interviewed on the Chicago campus, did you all go outside at any point for the tour or interviews? We're supposed to get some snow tonight and tomorrow, so I'm thinking about shoes. Thanks!

Yes we went outside when I interviewed but this was back in October. We went to a medical building next door or across the street and we got a tour of the student center near the medical building. Definitely wear comfortable shoes.

We went outside at the very end of our tour but our tour guides gave us the option of whether or not we wanted to go outside. If the weather is super bad I'm sure your group would not be very interested in walking across the street just to see the gym. 😛

On my day it was below 10 F, so we didn't go outside at all. However if it's just snow, the tours still go outside.

So just now I got an email saying I had a package, and it was from "Chicago Metro Hub". I was like "Hmm, that's weird, normally if my parents send me something it says my hometown, not Chicago...OMG UIC!!!" So, despite knowing that there was no way they'd sent out my decision yet, and knowing that even if they had it wouldn't come to this address, I threw on some clothes (I literally put my shirt on backwards I was so frantic), and ran through the cold and snow to the package place...only to find out IT WAS A BAG OF FREAKING BIRTH CONTROL. Biggest. letdown. ever.

Better than a rejection

So is the committee meeting going to be 2/18? (The third Thursday). If that's the case we could get the quasi-acceptances/rejections on the portal by next Friday.

Until midnight tonight, I'm gonna keep believing that it was yesterday and that we'll see an update today. Haha denial, I know.

Does anyone have that piece of paper that says when orientation/class start date is for each campus? I swore I saw it but now I'm starting to think I imagined/dreamt it.

final decision + additional correspondence on 1/22, but still nothing in the mail. Anybody else in that position?

Is it possible they sent it to your permanent address instead of your local address, if applicable? Have you called to see when they mailed out decisions? Sorry this is happening to you...I wish they didn't use snail mail!

Since it's been more than two weeks, you should call the admissions office. They'll be able to sort you out.

I had the same issue. If you're in the area they're receptive for a local pick-up. If not, call and ask for a resend and double check the address

So i was accepted to UI back in november, sent in the deposit and got my forst choice UIC. However i never got info on the background check in my packet which my buddy just informed me is a thing. Can anyone pm the website/code if its a universal thing(not like acceptee specific obviously)? I already did the amcas backgriund check but im not sure how to get ahold of the info for UIC background check? Thanks

Don't know if I missed this in the packet, but do we send our transcript to the med school registrar or the admissions office (or somewhere else)?

Pretty sure the packet says to mail it straight to admissions.

Has anyone who as been accepted in December gotten the CBC email or information regarding the myuic portal

I was accepted in January, and I've received the CBC email. Haven't received any info about the myuic portal.

Didn't get my first site preference (chi) - anyone know if there have been successful attempts to appeal a change in the past?

Forgive my ignorance but you only have to send your transcript after graduation, correct?
I would assume so. I have to send transcripts from multiple schools, and I won't be able to send one of them until spring semester is done. I'm sure they expect that.

I called about this today. Apparently appeals aren't considered until after April 30th (when decisions are finalized and they have a better picture of what their class is going to look like).

Aight, thanks a bunch!

didn't get chicago either. pretty down right now. Hoping for a successful appeal

Seems like Chicago is full... That makes me sad. It also makes me sad that appeals aren't considered till after April 30th, because if accepted I would love to attend UIC, but I have no interest in attending if I'm not in Chicago.

What made you think they're filled?

It seems like your placement is pretty much based on availability and preference, so seeing as two people who put Chicago as their top preference got Urbana, that makes me assume that Chicago is mostly or totally filled.

Not that I entertain much hope of an interview here this late in the game, but I'm finally "in process" after 4+ months since submission. That was a long wait!

I talked to someone the other day and they said they haven't sent out CBC emails yet so don't worry about it for now. But you could be doing Certified Profile stuff which is just the immunization requirements.

I got the CBC email from certiphi early Feb. I was admitted late January.

Good sign! UIC interviews into April and I got an II shortly after becoming in process.
Okay is there a difference between in process and in progress? I dont recall mine ever saying in process.

The general consensus is that "process" means the application is actively reviewed. Progress just means that it has been submitted and it's complete. Then again, the whole thing is shrouded in mystery.

I got that too but when I talked to the person from UIC they said thats from AMCAS not from them and that they would be sending it out later. So idk.

Does anyone know how long it generally takes after the meeting for the portal to be updated?
The portal can be updated the day of or the day after. I should know since I've seen people post about portal changes every month since October while I'm still at decision pending
