2015-2016 University of Michigan Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sorry if this has been touched on before, but I just got back from abroad. For those with IIs:

1. The HIPPA certification after the two powerpoint modules -> Did you put anything under UMID? and is that all you have to upload?

I put N/A. Has not been an issue to my knowledge.

Interviewing here on Friday! I wanted to ask those who have already interviewed: what were the interviews like? Were they high-stress or were they more on the conversational side?

tracker updated today as of 10/16/2015
Check it out, interviews offered 465/528: IS 121/176, OOS 344/352

And they have given out 11 IIs since the 16th, so probably only a couple of OOS slots left.
Remember, some of the rock stars/super stars may be giving up Interview slots too as acceptances are coming out.
Don't give up hope yet, OOS. But it is good to be Michigander!!

Does anyone know how the MD/PhD statistics fit into the tracker?

Fixed it

Mine were definitely more conversational, especially with my student interviewer. My faculty interview was also laid back and mostly focused on him asking me about my different clinical experiences and what I learned and my interests in certain areas of medicine.

Nothing on my end either. 🙁 Doesnt this also mean they are basically done with II's bc on their last power point presentation, it showed that they were almost done sending out II's?

Tracker is updated monthly, so we should probably have a better idea in a couple of days. It was OOS II that were essentially all given out though, but maybe some people with interviews have withdrawn? Keeping hope alive!

Well, just got my interview moved up three 3 weeks by U of M. Must be that others are canceling their interview slots, and as I'm local, they pull us first to fill the vacancies. Good luck to others in nabbing my other mid-December interview slot.

Interview in early december here....still trying to figure out where to stay etc etc. anyone know about student hosts? Are there any left for that time?

So they say the 15th for admissions decision, but it's really the night of the 14th right? Around what time should we watch for the email? And do they send both acceptances, deferments, and rejections at the same time or do the latter two happen the next morning?

If you can't tell I'm really, really, really, really excited for this.

The admissions office doesn't open on the weekends. You'll hear back Thursday (trust me on this one). I'm both excited and freaking out myself..My friend got his rejection a day before everyone else got accepted two years ago, not sure if that'll be the case this year though.

Does anyone know if students deferred on 10/15 have a chance of getting an updated decision this month?

Holy **** dude. How do you know about hearing back on Thursday? I saw during the twitter chat that they reaffirmed the 15th as the date they will release decisions. You making me poop my pants

Does anybody know how many II's were given out yesterday?

In the past they typically accept some people in December, but I have no clue what they're doing this year. They've kept things about deferrals pretty close to the chest this year. People have asked about it on Twitter and they basically just keep saying that usually a handful are accepted, but they're not saying when or how many this year. At least not yet, it's still early I guess.

Potentially less than 24 hours now...!

When did you hear for Oct? Midnight right?
Im in California and I got the e-mail at around 9:30 PM on the 14th. So excited for all the people who are finding out this month, I absolutely fell in love with this school when I visited!!

Are they giving everyone deferrals instead of sending out rejections?

Sorry should have been more specific- are all the defer emails coming out now or do they come in waves?
