Got the email as well. I was pleasantly surprised that they hadn't just thrown me away.
 
The apparent large number of people that received this email leads me to believe that the adcom has given out most of the interviews already, but have tabled us in the event they don't fill up their class as nicely as they anticipated. More or less a hold/waitlist situation.

..or I could be totally wrong, and we all get mass rejected in a month lol.

Here's to the best though.

Keck wants no letters/updates EVER unless it is past April 30 and you have been waitlisted at their institution and currently hold an acceptance at another school. They were very explicit about this when I visited.
 
Have people in the past who received this email actually gotten IIs? @___@ guess I'm just wondering how many people got this email vs how many interview spots they have left

hm yeah I feel like it was a general, to all current applicants email...is your status complete? Honestly no harm in calling anyway to inquire about your status so why not
 
Also did not receive an email. Status on the portal just says "complete and under review at this time." No change since 9/20

Yeah on a Thursday! I interviewed 10/30, and I called late Tuesday because they said we could if hadn't received a decision after 2 committee meetings. The woman on the phone said I probably wouldn't hear back until January because I hadn't been reviewed yet. So I'm chalking this up to a Christmas miracle 😍
 
People with recent II's, how far out were interview slots open?
 
Anyone know when the next batch of acceptances/rejections are coming out? Jan. 5th? 12th? Gonna spend the holidays in a state of low-grade anticipation...
 
Lol +me for the email at the same exact time. I submitted the secondary on 11/30 😵
 
Pretty certain that the elusive email is a pre-interview hold. My advisor thought the same.

That's interesting, when did you get the MPH scholarship? Was it at the time you found out you got accepted into the MPH program, or later?
 
Whether you do the 4 year combined or traditional 5 year MD/MPH the school will pay for it. You have the option to apply for MPH program after ms2 or ms3 as well.

That sounds great, I got accepted into MPH/MD program (4 year), and I would love to do it, but I can't see paying an additional 50K (or so). So this is great! (you're 100% sure about it? 😀 )

Are you doing the MD/MPH?
 
Yes, I am 100% sure. I did the 5 year as 4 year wasn't offered at the time. I completed biostats/epidemiology track and I would say it was a worthwhile use of time as I have been approached by many fellows/attendings to help out with stats and other data analyses for their research projects (= great lors + better CV for residency applications). It also gave me a year to spend with my toddler boy, which was awesome (and guilt-free as I wasn't paying tuition!)

Honestly you'll probably talk about random things in your interview so don't worry lol. Just be able to talk and loosen up. Apart from why medicine and why Keck you won't get any stereotypical questions. At least most people my day didn't.
 
Does anyone have any information on how/when scholarships are granted? Is the Scholarship Committee the same as the Adcom? Are they usually generous/not? Mostly need/merit based? Thanks!

They give out a sheet for scholarships during interview day. From looking at it, it seems you have to apply to each scholarship independently. Most are awarded in the M3-M4 years.

And the awards are quite limited it seems, and don't provide full tuition.

Really liking the possibility of being classmates with some of the people on this thread!
 
BTW for those looking to make fitness and weight training your release while at Keck Barbell Brigade (of youtube fame) Is only like a mile and a half away.
Does anybody know anyone who works out there?

They do every other Monday, and when I went to interview they said they took a gap for the holidays. Makes me think they're probably starting up again monday, to be released monday/tuesday.

According to last year's thread, there should be a mass wave of rejections this/next week where most of us will be out of the running :X.
 
Looking over last years thread it seems there were not any II's sent out past December but who really knows with this whole process.
 
Rejected in cold blood. Complete mid August.
