Yes, if you look in past threads you will see that some people get them, I believe they still give all OOS students a small scholarship to give them IS tuition. In the past (I don't know about now) they included scholarship offers in the official letter that students receive post acceptance. Has anyone gotten an official letter yet btw? Also, based on this forum they have matched scholarship offers from other schools in the past.
 
Hey y'all, I'm really hoping someone can weigh in and give me some insight on the whole TMDSAS thing. I was accepted to UT Southwestern on the 15th, and then got interview offers for other Texas schools later in the week. UT Southwestern is my top choice Texas school, so should I withdraw my application to the other schools pre-interview, or do I need to go and interview? The TMDSAS pre-match/ match thing confuses me. Once you're accepted, withdrawing from other schools can't affect that acceptance, right?
 
Has anyone received the official letter in the mail yet? Some of the other schools in Texas I pre matched to said that I had a two week window to reply... And it's been a week...Is UT southwestern the same? Don't want to botch this by not receiving something haha. My neurotic nature shall not cease until I can sign the dotted line 😉

Nope , nada for me too. I have received 3 other acceptance letters though from other Texas schools.

Haven't gotten it either, and my mailing address is no more than 20-30 mins away from UTSW.
 
Last year when I pre-matched I did not get my letter in the mail until November 22nd, and the requested response date was not until December 5th, although if more time was needed, we could have e-mailed Anne McLane.

I am not sure what the timing is like for all of you, but just letting everyone know that last year it was around this week.
 
If anyone on here is interviewing on 12/5/15, and would like to split a hotel room, please let me know!
 
Can any current first years comment on the new curriculum?? Seems like its even shorter than Baylor's because it still leaves the summer break for us. Just curious how smooth the new roll out was? Thanks!
 
If anyone knows, will UTSW still send pre-match offers for those who have interviewed on 11/21 and 12/05? Or is it highly unlikely, and we can only hope to rank them 1st and match?

Nope. I got accepted Nov 15th and haven't gotten my letter either. Seems like a common theme...
 
I am thinking about buying a new laptop for UTSW on Black Friday for the best deal, but looks like they're updating the laptop requirement information so I can't access it. Anyone happens to know their requirement for the laptop from the last year?

Congratulations to all who have received early acceptances so far! I was wondering... Are we allowed to accept multiple pre-match offers at this point? From reading the acceptance forms sent by the schools, it sounds like it is binding, but I don't think that's the case? Anyways, if anyone can provide some clarification, that'd be awesome, thank you!

From TMDSAS:

Pre-Match Offers
  1. Prior to the match, medical schools may extend offers of acceptance to Texas residents for a period between November 15 and December 31.
    • Applicants may accept offers from more than one medical school during the pre-match offer period without the risk of an offer being withdrawn by a medical school during the pre-match offer period.
    • An applicant who receives more than one offer should decline any offer from a school that he/she definitely does not plan to attend as soon as that decision is made.
  2. Offers of acceptance should only be considered valid if an acceptance letter is received. Verbal offers of acceptance or ranking are not binding to either the applicant or medical schools.

You can accept as many pre-match offers as you want.

I believe the understanding is there have been NO LETTERS. Apologies for the caps, but I'm waiting on letters from two other schools as well. Acceptance doesn't feel real without something actually in my hands...
 
Thanks @ilnt15 ! I definitely feel the same way and figured that was the case but just wanted to see if there was an update today. UTSW is my top choice so my anxiety continues to grow day by day...

Has anyone actually contacted them about the letters and if they've sent them? Also just to clarify the acceptance letter in the mail is the only way that we can let them know that we are accepting the pre-match offer correct?Nothing online?
 
I emailed Anne McLane about the letter and she said they were on their way. In any case, the deadline is Dec 4th, but you can email the signed form to her or ask for an extension if mail is the only option for you. I'm sure we'll all be fine!

Received my acceptance letter (OOS) in the mail earlier today. Included was a scholarship offer to make tuition same as the IS tuition. Very excited to receive this and looking forward to second look!
 
For those of you that were accepted, what type of questions did you ask during your interview? I think I may be ruining my chances. Thank you for your help!

It was fairly standard and straightforward - if a bit dry perhaps.

I think there are still a few who haven't, so I'm pretty sure you're not the only one... just keep checking your mailbox! And when in doubt, make a quick phone call.
 
They emailed me mine because they sent someone else's letter to my house 😵

Congrats on that scholarship! Is it merit based? Received my letter in the mail a few days ago and wondering if there's still time down the road to get offered a merit-based scholarship.

Maybe you can call them up and negotiate esp if you're holding an acceptance at a higher ranked school?

Thank you! And I'm not sure, although someone mentioned that they give the scholarship to 10% of the entering class. There are still chances to earn scholarships down the road whether that's through FAFSA, UTSW, or other organizations.
 
I interviewed here on 11/14, so rather naturally I did not get the prematch offer on the 15th.
Does UTSW send out more prematches, or there are no more prematch offers after the 15th??

I just got offered an interview for 1/9/16. However, I didn't finished the secondary application. Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't think anybody on SDN has reported that happening this year, but somebody did mention it happened last year. It is highly recommended that you submit the secondary between now and interview day, if you are planning on attending the interview.
 
I got my letter emailed to me. Is it supposed to only have three forms? I was expecting more information.

Just got my letter today as well, and I live on the west coast 🙂 Yes, I only received 3 forms.

What do you guys mean by 3 forms? I just have the acceptance form to sign and two accompanied papers. Are there any other forms to fill and sign? Sorry for my ignorance.
