I am sorry if this was already covered, but how exactly do you see you status on their portal? The only buttons I see are "change password" "withdraw application"

There's nothing on the right that reads: Dear catie_jane....?

It's not a button, for me, using Chrome, it's to the right of the buttons directly in the center. It says,

Online Applicant Center

Dear 16Candles:

Your supplemental application has been received. Please note that it may take 6-8 weeks for all materials to be processed; at certain times of the year, it may take as many as 10-12 weeks. You should continue to periodically check on the status of your file through the Online Applicant Center. We appreciate your patience!

Ahhh, I see. I thought there was a separate status that showed LOR, fee paid, etc. like some of the other schools. Thank you!

Just noticed I was small pooled today. Complete around late July.

how can you tell?

My status on the page changed from "your application is complete and under review" (or something to that effect) to "your application has been preliminary reviewed and you have been placed in a pool of applicants who may be invited to interview"

Woah. So, I checked my status earlier today and it said I was on hold because of something about one of my science letters. I emailed them asking what I could do, and it turns out it was just some confusion regarding one of my letters. The person said my status would be changed within a few minutes, and it just changed to

"Your file is complete and has been preliminarily reviewed. You are within a pool of applicants from which an interview may be extended. Please note that this does not guarantee you will be offered an interview and you may not see an update to your status for several months."

Is that the small pool status? Can I be hopeful?

Yep that status means you're small pooled!

Good luck to those interviewing tomorrow! It would be awesome if someone could update us on their general impression/feel of the interview day afterwards!

Also, UVM's website says "a 9 interviewer circuit," or something of the like. Anyone know if they use a true MMI format? or is theirs a bit different?

The interview is an MMI interview. The best advice I can give is relax and be yourself. I know everyone says this but it is especially true for this school. The whole day is very laid back and everyone is extremely friendly. Be professional and prepared but there is no reason to be overly nervous. I would be amazed if this wasn't one of if not the least stressful medical school interview you will have.

I was pooled some weeks ago. Not sure when though 😛
Hope we all receive some good news!

Thanks for the advice! I'm in-state and would love to go here.

Do they e-mail you when you're small pooled?
I don't believe so. I think you just have to keep checking your portal.

It's been almost 8 weeks

Would anyone interviewing this Saturday like to venture into Burlington with me after the interview? I'm not renting a car, so I was planning on walking through the UVM campus and into the town, down to the lake, just walk around a little. The more the merrier 😀

Super excited for Saturday, looking forward to meeting some of you!

Just checked my portal and I was small pooled today! OOS, complete in late July and under review until now. just keep swimming y'all!

I was complete around the same time as you and also small pooled today!

I'm still "your supplemental application has been received..." Submitted late July. Is that normal ?

Yup. I (and a few other people in this thread) were complete mid-late July and didn't get any sort of status change until late last week to early this week. They're slowly but surely working their way through the giant stack of apps haha

Wuddup SDN. If anyone wants to carpool to UVM from the tri-state area for this Saturday's interview and go halfsies on gas, let me know! I promise I won't dump you in a ditch somewhere.

I interviewed last Saturday, and the rumors are true: the interview day is super laid-back, and about as fun as an interview can be. The staff are warm and welcoming and will tell you "all you have to do is be yourself!" a few dozen times. There are lots of opportunities to talk to students and they, by and large, seem really genuinely happy.

Can't say much about the actual interview activities because of the confidentiality agreement... but the MMI is a pretty classic MMI format, the questions are interesting, and the interviewers are friendly and not intimidating. The teamwork activity is more fun and less cheesy than I expected, and they will brief you very thoroughly beforehand.

Also, they give you cider doughnuts at the end of the day 😀 We did not get actual cider last weekend because it hadn't been pressed yet, but they said they were hoping to have it for this weekend.
THANK YOU!

me too, submitted slightly later than you, and still has that status...

Does anyone know how UVM makes decisions after an interview? Is the interview weighted more - make or break? Is it still stats/EC driven?

Anyone OOS complete in July and his/her status still hasn't changed from materials received? I was complete 7/24 and my status hasn't moved to under review. Called the admissions office plenty of times voicing my concerns. Still nothing.

I was complete 07/22 (OOS) and my app just moved to under review on Monday. If you've called them and they say you're all set I would just wait it out. Easier said than done, though.

Does your app say it's under review or that it has been reviewed?

I interviewed here last Saturday. They interviewed about 60 students that day. Even though that may seem intimidating, everyone was extremely nice and this was one of my most enjoyable interview experiences. It was a fun day.
Whoaaa that's a lot of people. Do they interview on a daily basis?

I'm assuming they're interviewing every weekend or every other weekend or even every month. Interviewing 60 people on a daily basis is quite a lot of people for their class size. Take advantage of the student host program they have there. I didn't, but wished I did.
That's what I was thinking...thanks for the info!

They have one or two interviews per month (not for the entire year). There's one in October and I think two interview dates in November (and some more, but I don't recall them all).

I would also highly recommend signing up for the student host program! There's no guarantee you will get a host, but we try our best. Student perspective is invaluable.
