Anyone have tips on parking for interview day?

They have a dedicated parking garage across from McGlothlin. The directions and instructions should be in the travel info on the website after you log into your application. In the event the garage is full they'll valet park your car for $2 to $5. Give yourself a little time, as it can take a while to hunt for spots (and get valet parked in the event it's full).

BTW those same directions might tell you to go to Sanger Hall. This is incorrect, go to McGlothlin.

I got the interview after the confusing status change! any tips for the interview?
Be sure to read through the interview questions on the SDN subpage for VCU, know your application, know why VCU, and be yourself! It's a very stress-free interview.

Because it's a low-stress interview, it's hard for me to gauge if I did well.

Are they still considering outta states that completed the week of August 6 pos-secondary. 8 wks of silence it a long time.

@MCATUMOR, VCU will tell you if your file has been looked at and given a priority score. If you have not been informed a status update, then your file has not been viewed.

I still haven't heard anything, so good luck. It looks like they haven't even reviewed my app.
I was complete the same day. These are rough times in the neighborhood.

OOS just received a status update: the committee's file review indicates that they are interested but we MAY be unable to interview everyone at your priority score. If we are unable to interview you you will be notified in march.

anyone else? and if so, any updates past that?

When were you complete?

Not yet for me (interviewed 9/28), but I was wondering the same thing and found a couple posts from people in this thread who said they'd switched to the post-interview hold status!
I'm still at the survey status. Hmm, not sure what this means.

It means your application may have been reviewed and scored, but your score hasn't been entered into the system. The office will sometimes do a last minute push of entering scores the day before/day of acceptance releases, so don't worry!

I got the further status and received an interview a few days after, so I think you will be getting an invite soon.

I have a feeling this is a silent rejection for me. (low VR score) borderline stats otherwise. I submitted 08/30, nothing thus far. not my number one choice, but sad nonetheless.

Lolz have you been following this thread? VCU has taken as many as 12 weeks to get back to some people; you're only a little over 6. I've been waiting over 8 weeks for my secondary. Patience. 🙂

has there been any rejections here so far?

Just look in this thread....

I'll help you out. Per VCU's admissions FAQ page in 2014 they got over 9000 apps. They sent secondaries to fewer than 3000 applicants. Thus about 2/3 get told they won't be getting a secondary. However, they are also very, very behind, and some people have been waiting months to hear if they'll get a secondary or not. Silence means no one has looked at your file yet.

Post-interview hold just now, interviewed 10/7. Does that mean they could maybe call tomorrow? OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.
Same thing, was scared to go to my portal (received another deferred decision already today).
Just need to wait, and worry, which doesn't help anything. Tried to do something else, but my mind is wandering.

Rejected yesterday; I got the notification that they were reviewing my app on 10/5. LizzyM ~70, OOS. Don't think this was the best fit for me anyway so good luck to the rest of you applying!

Yep on 9/1 and today I still have nada.

At my interview recently (IS), the AdCom said they have received close to 10K apps this year so far, will be extending the same number of interviews as last year (~1000), and have gotten approval to grow the class size a bit, but did not specify the time frame (adding seats this year or over a few years). The guaranteed early students take up seats in the same accepted bucket we are all trying to get into. So the statistics are a little different when you peel the onion a bit. My interviewer, an M4, was great and spent a lot of time getting to know me. Best of luck to everyone.

What does post interview hold mean?

VCU has four notification dates: Oct 16th, Dec 15th, Feb 1, and March something something. It appears that after your interview, once you've gone through the committee and they make their decision, you're on hold until the next of those dates comes up.

What does post interview hold mean?
It means that your application has been reviewed and scored, and that you are now "eligible" to be accepted. Remember that the school WILL NOT over-enroll at any time and will instead only offer 1/4 of the pre-waitlist acceptances (including Guaranteed Med and MD/PhD) during each acceptance date. So, the top 50-60 scored applicants should get an acceptance at the next date.

has there been any rejections here so far? please note which kind? pre-2 post-2 post-int

As the others have said, there have been some pre-secondary. But at my interview day I thought I heard it was possible to get a rejection status instead of a post-interview hold, which I thought was scary but I haven't found anyone that's actually happened to. Maybe I heard wrong?

Lets say you interview October 25th, will you know on December 15th if you are either denied or accepted? Or is it possible to stay on hold for the next notification date?

From my understanding, if you're on their list of potential acceptances you'll automatically get bumped to the next date all the way until March, then they put you on the alternate list or not.

ETA: Though I'm not 100% sure on how they do their rejections, anyone know if they wait until the end of the cycle?

I couldn't tell from the wording of the status change.

Gosh I can't even sleep right now. Please don't play with my heart, VCU!

In general, the school will only reject students when the waitlist is formed at the end of March.

If you've received the post-interview hold, the only times you'll hear back are any of the 4 major acceptance dates or at the end of March when the waitlist is formed. At this point, the school will release acceptances as withdrawals occur. Good luck everyone and feel free to PM me with specific questions!

Lol, and here I was feeling all special that I wasn't rejected. Oh well.

Snooping last year's thread, it seems like they were notified in the evening (6pm-ish). Might be a long day here, guys 🙂

Last year, it seemed that emails went out around 620-630pm EST. I wouldn't compulsively check email until that time haha

Had my Interview here last week. They said they got close to 10000 apps this year, and were going to send out 3000 secondaries. They interview about 1000 for about 350 spots, which to me seemed low but idk. They send out acceptances in batches and today will be the first day for that. After today, the next date is in mid-December. My interview seemed blind. I was super impressed by VCU and Richmond and could definitely see myself going there as and out of stater!
