2015-2016 Virginia Commonwealth University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
+1.

Do you guys think being accepted to a DO program classifies as being "accepted elsewhere" ? Thanks

I also just got the alternate/waitlist notification, the waiting game continues

Alternate listed as well and pretty excited that I wasn't rejected.

Wait that wait list info looks super promising lol can't believe there's only 100 with 75 accepted??

Also waitlisted (no email). Check the portal for status update.

Waitlisted and then withdrew. Has anyone been rejected post interview?

Yup, no email but checked my portal this evening and had a rejection awaiting me. Not surprised, by far the worst interview of my whole life and anything other than a rejection would not have made any logical sense whatsoever and would shatter the validity of the entire interview process. Best of luck to everyone waiting for a decision!

I'm assuming about 400 people on the wait list...someone wanna call and confirm?

Just chiming in... also on the waitlist, OOS. Didn't get an email yet. Waa, but I guess it's better than being rejected!

Not surprised... If only they would understand that we don't really want them to give us waitlist info... we just want to know whether they disclose it to MSAR, or if that info was fabricated. 😛

U right I'm gonna try that!

Judging how many people got put on the WL on this thread, much more than 100 people got put on it... So I don't think the MSAR information is accurate

You're on the waitlist, you're on the waitlist, everybody is on the waitlist!

Does anyone know if it is good/bad to be on the waitlist when you have another acceptance (since they had that survey to indicate which category you fell under)?

I've been accepted elsewhere, but I still want to be on the waitlist here

I have no idea, but also curious... I can't imagine it's good. :-/

It could be good because it shows that you do want to attend the school, or bad because they want to help as many people they interviewed as possible to get in somewhere.

Or perhaps they are just using it for data, tiebreakers, or advertising for their CERT program

Status update just now, officially waitlisted (IS).

On a bright note, my last interview today went really well.

Waitlist email at 15:39 OOS.

Why do they need to know if we've gotten in elsewhere? Am I the only one who thinks that should have nothing to do whether or not we get into VCU? I don't want to be put on a separate waitlist because I've gotten in somewhere and they are trying to help others who haven't gotten in anywhere get an acceptance...anyone agree?

Also, they did mention there is a separate waitlist for IS vs OOS. Maybe MSAR means that it is 100 people per list?

I do agree with this, but as someone with no acceptances currently I need all the help I can get 😛

But for the people that have been accepted to clearly higher ranked/schools they want to go to way more, quit playin' and hop off this train, I need a seat!

Hmm...but if they don't know the school that you got accepted into, then they aren't differentiating between those who got into a better school vs those who got into a worse school. I know what you mean, though. This is my 4th year applying!

I think they ask if you were accepted elsewhere because people holding multiple acceptances have to decide by April 30. I think it's just to see who they should continue to contact after April 30.
