Have any waitlisted people been invited to second look and if so does anyone know if it means anything?

Hmm...but if they don't know the school that you got accepted into, then they aren't differentiating between those who got into a better school vs those who got into a worse school. I know what you mean, though. This is my 4th year applying!
I do agree with this, but as someone with no acceptances currently I need all the help I can get 😛
But for the people that have been accepted to clearly higher ranked/schools they want to go to way more, quit playin' and hop off this train, I need a seat!
Waitlist email at 15:39 OOS.
Why do they need to know if we've gotten in elsewhere? Am I the only one who thinks that should have nothing to do whether or not we get into VCU? I don't want to be put on a separate waitlist because I've gotten in somewhere and they are trying to help others who haven't gotten in anywhere get an acceptance...anyone agree?
When I interviewed I asked if there was a second look day and was told that VCU doesn't have one.. by Dr. Whitehurst-Cook
It's a trap! 😛Weird. What am I attending next weekend then?
I have no idea if it helps or hurts. I just want to know why they need to know that in order for you to "accept" the waitlist position. It seems that information should be optional because it, in theory, should have no weight on whether or not they want to offer you an acceptance.Do you guys really think being accepted elsewhere will hurt you?

I just talked to someone on the phone at VCU, they said that it has no weight on their decision whether or not to accept you. I don't know why they need to know, but all we can do is trust they aren't lying. Hope this puts some of you at ease.

Interesting...if they can see it, why ask? After April 1, 2015, the medical schools can see all schools at which you have been accepted so really starting tomorrow they would be able to find out anyways.
Interesting...then why ask if they will know anyway? Trying to catch people in a lie? After April 1, 2015, the medical schools can see all schools at which you have been accepted so really starting tomorrow they would be able to find out anyways.

Have any VCU med students attended the pre-matriculation program? I just got invited and have a ton of questions before I make my decision.

Hey, I saw you got emailed about the pre-matriculation program. Can you tell me when it starts? I have not gotten the email. Dr. Cook said she was sending them out soon but I guess only a few people got selected. I would like t plan ahead though in case I do get invited. What are the details?
Has anyone emailed Dr. WC yet about their waitlist position? I'm most likely going to wait until late May if I haven't heard anything by then but was wondering if you guys sent an email.
I also got an invite too and talked to a few friends I have at MCV now to see what they've heard about it. The general consensus is that it's helpful, but not absolutely necessary. Like if you do it it'll give you a leg up, but if you don't do it you won't be doomed to failure. I called Admissions last week to ask more specific questions (what a day-to-day schedule is like, what the stipend is, etc) but for some reason she seemed reluctant to give me any information about it..

If either of you are not that interested I totally am. It may be limited space so if you feel like giving it up for another student let me know!
Just got an acceptance notification via email. First MD acceptance in two application cycles!!!!! Interviewed February 3rd, and was waitlisted March 29. Best of luck to all those of you still in the running!!!!!
Stats?
3 years full time research experience with a first author publication in Circulation, solid clinical experience (~600 hrs ER volunteering and surgical internship). Cummulative undergraduate GPA of 3.41 (BCPM of 3.27). Post-bac BCPM of 3.65 in the SF State Pre-Health Professions Certificate Program.
What I really think makes the difference with VCU is how hard your application reviewer and interviewer pitched your file when the committee met. My understanding is that the admissions list and waitlist are ordered purely on the basis of how committee members vote on your application. I think it was my interview that really put me over the top. Interviews were scheduled to last 30-45 minutes and mine went almost two hours and felt like one of the most genuine and natural conversations I've had with anyone in my entire life.
Dang...mine only lasted 20 minutes...interviewer didn't seem that interested in me lol

Accepted but withdrawed just now!
Did VCU give you aid?NY resident seriously considering between Albany vs. VCU. Pretty similar from what I understand- but grading system is pass fail here vs. Albany's ranked system. Leaning towards VCU because Albany gives $0 aid... but I will miss NY. Also loved Albany's second look day, and seems like a very fun school with a very close knit community. Can anyone (current students) please PM me for more reasons to choose one school over another?
+1 lolDang...mine only lasted 20 minutes...interviewer didn't seem that interested in me lol
