2015-2016 Yale University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you upload a document successfully, you should see a section right below the upload button that gives the name of the document and the date uploaded. You can't click and see the document, though. If it's not there, upload it again.

Perfect -- thank you so much!! I can see the document name and date that I uploaded it. Just can't actually click to see the document itself. I was double checking the size right before I uploaded it so there was a small chance that I forgot to include the attachment. Glad it seems like it won't let you upload if you don't have the actual document selected. 🙂 Thanks again!

anyone have an idea as to when the next wave of interviews could be?

Looking up CT Limo on Yelp... dang, 1 star? Scratch my original plans haha. Is anyone interviewing tomorrow and want to share an Uber to Bradley after the interview day??

Were they on time and everything? And Uber will probs be cheaper if someone shares haha

Does Yale review apps in order of complete dates even though they don't have rolling admissions? Not sure if those two things are linked in any way

Gee I hope not. This was one of the first ones I did way back at beginning of July. My ultimate reach (love their independent learning atmosphere). Alas, my dreams of New Haven may be dashed, but I don't think we get rejected until like Feb.

That's what I love about the school as well- it's a reach for me also. I was complete August 19 or 20, so I'm expecting to have to wait another week or two for a potential II. And I spoke to someone in admissions who said all final decisions are mailed out in March, so don't lose hope! Don't think about the rejections, its still very early in the season 🙂

Nah, no way. I was complete 8/8 and got an II today. No way they're already done with all the apps before me. I think all schools have their own sorting method to get through apps that's not all based chronologically

Does anybody know the best/cheapest way to get from Philadelphia to New Haven? Is there a good bus or train line?

@FresherAir Amtrak is the most LEGIT. Round trip could be as cheap as 94+tax depending on what time you want to go. As a broke student, however, I do know some buses and things that are REALLY cheap and good that (NO OFFENSE BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND I AM GHETTO AND ASIAN) my more american friends find sketchy.

1) Amtrak Northeast Regional stops at NHV
2) Amtrak to NYC at Penn Station, go to Grand Central for Metro-North to NHV
3) PHL is the only airport with direct connection to the small HVN Tweed airport in New Haven, idk prices
4) Reliable buses would be Greyhound, Bolt, Megabus. Definitely at least a stop if not transfer in NYC

Thanks for the responses, I'll look those up! And @MissKitty2868 no worries, I'm most definitely looking for the cheapest way ...which leads me to my next question: does anybody know if Yale offers host students for a place to sleep haha?

If you follow the links on the interview portal or the II email, you'll see a contact email on a sidebar for coordinating student hosting. I can't write it here b/c it's obviously privileged information for those invited for interview only

I'm guessing the cheapest way would be Megabus to NYC + Metro-North to New Haven. That could be as little as ~35-45 bucks roundtrip, depending on how far your interview is from now because the bus prices increase the closer it is to the travel date.

Is it helpful to contact the admissions office expressing interest in the school, if I haven't heard back yet?

As I believe @WedgeDawg once said (and I may be paraphrasing here): They know you're interested.

Besides, its early. Lots, if not the majority of people haven't heard back yet. You're doing great.

I just submitted my secondary. Do you think it is too late to have any hope at all of receiving an interview??

Definitely not too late! That's the great thing about these non-rolling schools 🙂

I'm gonna go ahead an make the assumption that it'll be pretty tough for anyone to get into Yale if 1) They don't have a lot of researh AND 2) They don't have insane experiences? (Even if GPA and MCAT check out)

For what it's worth, I have pretty mediocre experiences with decently high GPA/MCAT (nothing extraordinary) and will be interviewing! I applied MD/PhD so I'm heavier on research. If you're thinking about applying, the secondary wasn't too bad so it's worth a shot!

Hmm fair enough! I just sent in my MD secondary and it's a long shot. Have a ton of direct care giving experience, good stats, but only a semester of research.. Meh

I'm an M1 here and had absolutely zero research on my application. I will say that is not the norm but just wanted to encourage you to apply even with mediocre research experience if would like to come here!

Oh awesome! With that being said... I assume you had amazing stats or experiences..?
If you did, don't be humble with your response please!

Oh wuuuuut, really surprised to see you here. Lol, after reading the entirely of last years columbia thread I was certain you would have chosen Columbia. Mind if I pm you with a couple questions?

PM is always welcomed. Except from @Willy38, cause that'll be weird, consider I normally would bump into him 3x a day.

My portal is not working. (probably rejecting me)
Portal is not working for me as well. But I doubt it means a rejection since I'm assuming everyone uses the same login page.

Why are we all trying to log in? Wouldn't we get an email if we receive an II?
