2016-2017 University of Arizona - Tucson Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm IS and completed my secondary just a few days ago. If IS students are not offered an interview immediately are they usually placed on hold or do a lot of them get a straight rejection?

Hold today but reading these makes me still have hope! Good luck everyone!
OOS

@sammiesings what do you mean? were people rejected last year after being on hold for longer than a certain amount of time?

Are you IS?

No, OSS

And for what its worth, I agree with the "No news = good news." The cycle is only beginning to pick up, so keep having hope! Speculation can drive one mad, so unless there is a definitive decision, holds and no news are both good news!

Yeah it looks like you either got off hold in a month or you were rejected around early October

Just for the half-cup full folks out there - the number of people on these threads each year represent a very small subset of the applicant pool. Pretty hard to draw any conclusions from the small sample size, not to mention anecdotal evidence never was strong evidence.

If you're interested in being an optimist and getting out of the pity party game, @Fluffy123 had it absolutely right for this school, "No news is good news". The game isn't over until that rejection email comes, and there is not way of knowing where you're at in the process.

wow. how exactly am i "in the pity party game"? relax with the judgement, buddy. i stated what i had seen as a pattern in the last threads. i'd love to get an II, and am privately still hoping for one. there's nothing "pity party" or "pessimistic" about stating what has previously happened.

Don't think this was an attack on you personally bud.

To clarify for those who are waiting anxiously, don't read much into supposed patterns for holds/waits/etc. There just aren't enough data points to make any sort of judgement call. And if we're going to stick to anecdotal evidence, we might as well view both sides and there have been plenty of folks that I've met while interviewing, and fellow classmates that were on hold for an extended period prior to being offered a late interview. No news is good news, and life is good.

have any of the recent interview groups been told or given any idea when the first set of acceptances will be sent out? They initially send end of sept at my interview date, so i was wondering if there was any word on that

I was told 4-6 weeks, but after looking at old SDNs I think we will hear back October 28

I interviewed on Oct 8th and was told that no acceptances could be sent out before Oct 15th

Did anyone who interviewed already go to the diversity mixer? What was that like?

Also, I interviewed a couple weeks ago and at that time they said they had sent out 196 II with 304 left. Since there have been more II's sent out since then, I would suspect the number to probably be closer to 250 II's left.

submitted my secondary on sep-29. I wonder what will happen to it...

I interviewed recently and they said they have under 200 interviews to give out. Also told us we should hear by 6 weeks about acceptances.

so if we interviewed 9/9 should we hear tomorrow or on the 6 week mark? anyone know?

I think 9/9 was one of the first few interview dates. So I wouldn't be surprised if some 9/9ers heard tomorrow. Tomorrow would be over 5 weeks and 10/21 (coming Friday) would be the 6 week mark for 9/9.

They said we should get an "update" by the six week mark, but were told to be patient obviously because they have thousands of applications to go through! From my understanding though, you should get an update 6 weeks after your interview. They said don't freak out if you haven't heard by 5 weeks thats perfectly normal!

From last years thread it appears that acceptances were not sent out till after 10/15, which was a weekday.

Accepted about an hour ago. Interviewed early Sept. spending the rest of the morning bawling can't even believe it!!!

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting to hear- this is my second application and I know the wait is the worst!
