Please let me know if you get anything sooner. When I called admissions they said it was because all dates before November were filled and they will open more dates later on but nothing before November.

I ended up calling that morning and the admin woman with whom I spoke told me they were about to put up some dates so I snagged one for Nov 18th.
 
I got the secondary at the same time I got the "application received" email.🙂

If applying to med school last year taught me anything, it was that I don't understand this process at all. There were places I thought I would definitely get an interview at where I wasn't even offered a secondary. On the other hand there were places I applied to that I thought were completely out of my league, but I received and interview and offer of acceptance. Applying to medical school is one big emotional roller coaster and unfortunately there is little you can do to predict what will happen next. My advice, instead of worrying about who is going to give you an interview or your LizzyM score, leave it all on the field. Be the most prepared, genuine, thoughtful interviewee you can be. Refine your secondary essays and thank you letters like they are last thing you are ever going to write. Recruit letters of recommendation from people who know you, care about you, and will fight to get you into medicine. For me, getting into medical school took 2 MCAT's, 2 Application Cycles, interview coaching, and 3 years of post-graduate teaching and research that I couldn't have foreseen when I first started this journey. Nevertheless, the fact remains that if you are willing to work hard enough for long enough, you WILL achieve your dream of becoming a physician. Hang in there. When one day that phone call from the Dean comes with an offer of acceptance, it will suddenly be all worth it. I know it was for me.

Also, UCDSOM is amazing. I hope to meet all of you next year.

Hi! Quick question, was your app put on pre-interview hold before you received your II or did you just hear back from them for the first time when they offered you the March interview? Thanks!

I was in a similar situation. Submitted AMCAS in august, received a secondary in september, submitted secondary w/in 2 weeks, heard back in october that i was placed on pre-II hold, heard nothing for three months, received an II in january, interviewed in march, accepted exactly two weeks later.

I don't remember it was an email or through the applicant portal, but the fact that I was on a pre-interview hold was explicit.

However, I feel the need to emphasize that (1) i don't remember how long it took for the message to be sent (2) I have no idea if these things change from year to year and (3) I have no inside knowledge as to how these things work. That was just my experience as best I remember it. Take it with a giant handful of salt.
 
It was really nice meeting some of you today during interviews. I hope you all get a call from Dr. Sousa on 10/15. Keep in touch and do come back for the revisit. It's a really nice dinner and cool tour of the school and Sacramento.

I was wondering if anyone was still waiting for a secondary?

I was verified 7/28 and I only received the email receipt for the primary app. Should I take it by now that they don't want one from me?

I have a LizzyM of >70.

Any kindred souls?

Received my II today 🙂 Submitted secondary on 7/29. Very excited and also hope I hear back for the ACE-PC program.

I' m with ya! Primary verified end of July and haven't heard anything since. Trying my best to not get too down about it since you never know!
 
For those who submitted early in July and haven't heard back, did you guys apply to special tracks like Rural prime, SJ valley prime, teach-ms? I feel like they give II to those who are interested in those tailored track.

Complete 7/3 with no special tracks and nothing so far. For what it's worth, I have IRL friends who were both complete about a week before me who have received II without tailored track.
 
why is davis soooo slow with secondaries??

This school continues to baffle me. I've been verified since early July and I havent gotten even a secondary.

GPA over 3.8 and MCAT over 80%, IS.

some of my friends who have lower stats than me and applied later than me got this secondary within days or even hours of being verified. And its not an issue of ties to the region. My friends who got this secondary have nothing to do with norcal.

I would call them, but Davis says "don't call us about your status, we don't know anything besides whats on your portal" lol.

is anyone in a similar position (ACMAS verified early July and still no secondary)?
This is starting to really annoy me, I mean c'mon....it takes over 2.5 months to pass/fail their "holistic" secondary review?

Same position as you. Called about it – they told me to keep waiting. They didn't tell me their criteria about automatic secondary vs. holistic screening. Sucks for us :\

UC Davis is probably still not over the fact that they accepted me out of high school for undergrad......and I was the one who rejected them lol. They've been waiting a long time for this moment to hurt Tuco's revenge at his most vulnerable.

In all reality, who knows how this works. At least someones in the same position as me haha
 
My interview is scheduled for Dec 4... would it be weird if I called them and asked if they had an earlier date?

First and foremost CONGRATS on your II. I'm scheduled for Nov. 18th and am extremely excited!!!! I absolutely LOVE this school!!! Now to address your question, I do not think it would be "weird" per say, actually it is quite understandable that you would be interested in an earlier date. That being said, I do not think earlier spots will be opened UNLESS someone cancels or withdraws, but maybe that spot would go to someone on the wait list or pre-interview hold. I could not imagine it would hurt your application to call and ask if you are dying to know lol. Everyone I have spoken with is extremely friendly, so if you have a question I am sure they would be more than happy to answer. Good luck!

The first date this year would be 10/17 so if you interview before then, that should be the first date for decisions. After that it seems like it'll vary from weeks to months.
 
Would anyone mind sharing the prompt + character limit for the other special programs on the secondary? Thank you kindly.

As PHgeek123 said, they won't release any decisions until after 10/17. Last year, they told us they would release decisions 2-4 weeks after the interview

I feel you 100%. Legend holds that when it rains, the Davis campus smells like cow dung. I think they give us secondaries based on our tolerance of such odors. The ADCOMs didnt believe I could ever acquire such a scent, so they didnt send me a secondary because they knew it would interfere with my medical education

Hahaha actually the medical school is in Sacramento vs the UG campus in Davis (which is where the cows are)

p.s. the med school campus is beautiful!
