I'm having a really hard time deciding if I should drive or fly here from SoCal. The student host thing seems uncertain until the last week, so I'm worried about having to book a last minute hotel room. If I had to pay for a hotel, I would rather just drive up to save money...but driving 6+ hours home in a rental car after the interview sounds exhausting.

Any other people interviewing here from SoCal?

Many came from SoCal to my interview. I flew in because I had a busy schedule during the week, but most others drove.

I drove from LA last year and was really glad I did. Besides saving a ton of money, you have your own car don't have to worry about getting (and paying for) a bunch of ubers. Driving home after the interview is pretty exhausting (especially if your interview is on a Friday when traffic starts early), but cost saving was important to me. Last year my interview was 10-2, others had an morning interview and were done by 12 or 1.

Thanks! I have to rent a car anyway because mine is too old for the trip, but I'm pretty sure I would still come out on top 🙂

If you don't mind my asking, how was the interview day? I have my interview coming up and am wondering what I should expect.

You're either assigned to "MMI before lunch" or "MMI after lunch" group. Other than MMI, there is introduction by faculty and a lot of students will join you for lunch and have their own presentation about the school life. Nothing too special. I can't talk about MMI.

Thank you, that is helpful. I understand you can't speak about the MMI. So did you find out which group you were placed into via the email they send a week before the interview date?

Is there any type of traditional interview at all? Like is it one of the stations for MMI? Thanks!

Yes you will be assigned to either group A (MMI before lunch) or group B.

I am sorry. I don't think I can answer that question.

Thanks! I look forward to reading the email. If only it were sent earlier than a week before the interview. Lol

Good to know! I should be getting my email shortly then, super excited!! Thanks!! So is there anything you wish you had known prior to your interview at UC Davis?

That their lunch was the best I've ever had during my interview season? The area is pretty empty, and there is not much food option unless you go out to far places (at least that was my impression)

Lol, well at least the food was great. Yeah, I've never been to the campus so I'm excited to see everything they offer. I'm planning on attending the Health Conference at UC Davis next month and possibly taking a trip to the Sacramento campus to familiarize myself with the area. Thanks!

Thank You, How far out did you have to schedule interview? Only day available on portal is one day in January so far.
I received my II September 1st and the only available date was in mid November, so it was about 2.5 months out.

So basically Davis will be rejecting me. Verified 6/23 and no secondary. But what the eff is up with the delay?!? Has anyone been rejected pre secondary lately?

I'm sorry to hear that. I believe someone mentioned that they received the secondary recently, so it might be on the way. I have no idea how the process works, but it's not over yet. Either way I can appreciate the frustration you must be feeling. Hope you hear soon!

I felt like I had a pretty good chance at Davis, but I still have not received an II through email yet. Starting to lose hope 🙁 Should I email or call them? Davis was my number one choice.

That was such a sweet message. Thank you 🙂

I know it's frustrating to see people receiving II's and not get one yourself, let alone if you haven't received a secondary, but don't get discouraged. There is still a long way to go before this cycle ends. Your secondary or II might just be around the corner. Good luck everyone!!!!

Anyone know how many acceptances Davis sends out in relation to the number of interviews they conduct? I.e. if you get an interview, what are your chances of acceptance?

I believe it's around 40% according to the numbers they gave.

Those numbers also include people off the waitlist who might have gotten accepted in July, so probably more like 30% are accepted outright.

For those who have been interviewed, did you guys go to the student run clinic tour? If yes, how was it? Do you recommend going?

Is Davis doing post secondary rejections? Or is everyone post secondary getting a II or silence? Anyone know? Thanks.

I got a decision roughly 1.5 months after I submitted my secondary. I was put on hold for reevaluation in the spring for a late interview. Not sure if they reject, but they definitely sent at least some decisions.

Did they tell you this via email? Or did you call and ask?
