Does anyone know for sure that they would be separate from the award letter many of us already got? I kinda doubt they are giving away much of anything to anyone

When I was accepted in November, I called and asked about this and was told we would be getting financial packages in mid-March so I was a bit surprised when we got them so early. I'm hoping merit scholarships can still be announced, even if we've already gotten our award letters but I doubt it

Probably have to consider that the state of IL is broke af, so the state-supported school probably doesn't have much money to throw around. But I hope you're right though!

Who should I email if I'm curious about scholarships/when they'll be released?

I emailed admissions and the FA office and have gotten no responses. I would try calling, that will be my next step.

I noticed that some people who have interviewed after me have already heard back from UIC while I have yet to hear back at all, is that normal? I interviewed on 2/1/17 at the Chicago campus. Also, during my interview one of the faculty members mentioned that we will hear back via snail mail with a final decision while others on the thread are saying that they got acceptance emails.... should I be on the lookout for both?

Thanks.

Are there any current students on here who have thoughts about the Rockford campus? Like what are the pros/cons of this campus compared to the others?

Did you put your parents info in your FAFSA?
I did not and have received my award letter, some schools may require it though. I read somewhere that if you don't fill out the parent info and the school needs it, they will let you know.

Has anyone confirmed with the Fin Aid Department that Merit Scholarships already went out or that they are coming out later this year in Mid-March?

Has anyone who was accepted 2/16 (last Thursday) received their packet?

Check the online portal for your application status. While there isn't a status update that says accepted there are a few statuses which indicate an acceptance is likely, and snail mail is on the way. That being said I received an email letting me know the committee's decision the day they met. I interviewed 1/18 and didn't have a decision until 2/16 so you may have some time before they review your interview though. Best of luck (Go Pack)!

What statuses on the applicant page indicate a likely acceptance?

Does anybody else have "evaluation not complete" as their post-interview status??

Does anyone know the turn around time for after you interviewed until you hear a decision?

It depends when the application review date is. I interviewed on 1/23, and the Admissions Committee apparently made their final decision on 2/16. I saw "Additional Correspondence" listed on the status page in the early afternoon, and within an hour of seeing the status update, I received my acceptance email. For February interviews after 2/16, I'd expect decisions not to go out until mid-March. Good luck!

Hey y'all. I received my award letter today after only submitting FAFSA last week (???). I would appreciate some help in understanding my letter. I'm in state, and not wealthy. The listed cost of tuition is $56,414. This is exactly how much I was offered in loans. Does this mean I received no institutional aid? I apologize if these are stupid questions.

Quick question, did you get an e-mail with your award letter?

I got the same number but I think that includes everything (tuition, housing, food, etc.). On last year's thread, people received scholarships with their acceptance packages, but I don't think anyone on this thread has said anything about receiving a scholarship. It's possible that UIC might have stopped giving out scholarships this year.

I wouldn't doubt it. The state of Illinois is broke as hell, and there have been a lot of budget problems for all state schools in IL. They probably aren't getting as much money coming in from the state as usual

I doubt there was a sudden change this year. Illinois has been long known as bankrupt lol

But the difference is that now the new governor is looking to cut the budget for a lot of things in the state, including funding for higher education

According to MSAR, UIC gives applicants 2 weeks to accept the offer. How exactly do we do this? The email only mentioned the forms being sent in the mail, but I still haven't received anything and it will be two weeks since I've been accepted on Thursday...

I have wondered the same thing. At this point, I am assuming that the packet will be our way of confirming. I have not read of any other way...

FYI - I spoke to the financial aid office today and anyone invited to the SPP will not be getting awards until August, and she said UIC FA packages are only loans up to the full cost of tuition and expenses. Doesn't sound like too many scholarships going out 🙁

What is SPP? Is that the premarticulation program?

Has anyone gone about completing their 10-panel drug screen? I called the admissions office and they said we would be emailed something from student affairs sometime later this month. I'm just a little confused and am wondering if anyone has some insight into that process.

Does it say anything about this in the portal? I did not see it in check list...
