2016-2017 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know someone that got a 498 on MCAT and got accepted this year. That person was URM. Also, I don't know any other statistics, like GPA etc.
Ahh okay. I was just curious - it was my alma matter but my mcat was welll below avg so i didnt bother applying. Def kicking myself now.

Just called the admissions office since I interviewed 3/3 and haven't seen a change in my status. I asked how long it usually takes to hear back after interviewing and the really nice lady said it always varies but IF the Admissions Committee decides to meet this month, I will see my status change to "Decision Made." Not very helpful... I know... Ahhh!

How important is it to go to second look to search for roommates and meet potential classmates?

Oh yeah Im Cuban. I don't know how much that influenced their decision. I did however speak a lot during my interview my interview about wanting to work with ethnic minorities in urban areas.
Ohh okay. Well regardless of race - congrats!

Guys, I'm deciding between a few schools and although I love Chicago(got placed there), the price tag is a big factor for me. If there are any M1 or M2s here , what made you decide UIC? Also anyone heard of scholarships from them, my financial aid letter was just loans? Also does anybody know if you can pay in state after 1st year?

Has anyone heard anything after getting the email below? Does anyone know when they'll make decisions? Or has anyone gottten in since this email?

"We would like to let you know that your application is still under consideration and that as soon as we complete the interview process in March we will have an update for you. We know that this is a very strenuous time for you, but were hoping to alleviate some of the stress by letting you know that you are in a very select group of excellent individuals under active consideration to become a member of our Fall 2017 class. Thank you for your interest in the University of Illinois College of Medicine."

When did you interview and when did you get this email?

Interviews in January and got it early February
Interviewed late february and haven't heard anything from them. Perhaps they are waiting for the last interview date in March to then review everyone left

Has anyones portal said "received" for the Hep B form?

Mine doesn't, and I submitted it in January. Castle branch says its complete, but the portal doesn't. I'm also confused

Wait, my app is still in process and I didn't get an interview yet. Do they interview everyone or do they just look at Casper? Do you guys think I've been rejected?

Regarding the Hep B status on the portal, y0u can ignore that. It's an outdated status. They only use CastleBranch to track immunizations.

Source: E-mail sent last year from Nora Few (Executive Assistant Dean, UIUC). Even though she only coordinated incoming Urbana M1s, it was the same for Chicago too. Here's a direct quote. (I think "Certified Profile" was renamed to "MyCB" at some point.)
"do not worry about the UIC status page with respect to your immunization completion; if you have been cleared by Certified Profile you are compliant"

Yaaas. Thanks Lot for the info

Has anyone found out where we send our transcripts? I cannot find any information on the COM website.

how can they just decide to not meet when there are so many "decisions pending"?!! shouldn't they want to be expediting this for their own sake as well?

I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't meet until April. Interviews are over (correct me if I'm wrong) so their pool isn't getting bigger and as time goes on people with multiple acceptances will turn down offers and potentially pull out of U of I. Ultimately I think it's just less people to deal with.

I also received a UMed interview last week! Nothing from GMed though.
