2017-2018 Cooper Medical School of Rowan University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm on edge with all these secondaries going out but none for me 🙁 I interviewed here the previous cycle I applied so I assumed I would at least get a secondary this time....
I was freaking out this morning too when I didn't get but just wait, I'm sure you'll get it.

I posted the link to the spreadsheet on reddit right after my first post mentioning it.
For the "Total Applied" does that include everyone that submitted a primary to them or only those that received and completed a secondary and thus considered "Applicants"?

My guess is as good as yours, I think it may be post screen but don't quote me on that.

Just got my secondary IS...was verified 6/20. Keep the faith my friends!

Gah is anyone still waiting on one? I got one the last time applied in 2015 and really liked the school so I hope they come in batches!

Me! Similar boat. I have to think that they wouldn't screen me out since my app is much improved over the previous cycle when I applied, but I guess who knows. My last name is toward the end of the alphabet so sometimes I chalk up these delays to that 😀

Does anyone else's secondary say "No Letters of Recommendation have been submitted." ? I received the secondary today, but I sent in my primary and Committee packet like back in June. Assuming this just means that mine wasn't processed and attached to my account yet, but just want to see if anyone else sees this too.

Mine says the same thing (and I was verified with all my letters June 1st) but this has happened for other schools that I've submitted secondaries to and they usually update it within a few days.

Where is this reddit link? thanks!!! 🙂
It's on page 2 of this thread but here's the direct link: I have access to the updated 2018 US News Data, including amounts of Applicants, Interviews, Accepted and matriculated Students! • r/premed

I think it's post-screen, too since MSAR has "5879 verified applications" for Cooper but the doc that was provided has 3306 as the number.

Just noticed actually, for those who received a secondary, did the last prompt not have a character limit? Slightly confused as to whether I should keep to the 1k character limit of first 3 questions or write more.

I kept 1k in case it was a mistake, didn't want it chopped of or anything

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

Anyone else having a hard time with this prompt? : "Please describe a time when you faced a problem that had no single right answer. How did you approach your solution?"
I am confused to what kind of scenario would best fit for a prompt like this. Any suggestions for how to approach this one?

How long after the "we have received your application through AMCAS, we will send you a secondary if you qualify" etc. etc. email did people receive the secondary?

I got my "received" email on 7/21 and my secondary on 8/14. From what I've heard/read they send secondaries out in batches and it seems to be pretty random for the most part. I'm sure it's done on kind of a rolling basis though.

Still waiting lmao. Primary was verified 6/8, got the email 7/21 with everyone else.

I received an interview invitation yesterday and I'm so nervous! Does anyone know what the patient simulation portion of the interview is like?

oos
Verified 6/9
secondary submitted 7/27
interview invite 8/17

Don't be nervous! If you're OOS and picked this early they must love you.

The II day is a blast. There are a few info sessions, a tour of facilities, a standardized patient assessment (5 minutes each), and an interview of about 30 minutes. Everyone is super nice and helpful. Only thing I would practice is patient assessment if you don't have much clinical experience, it can be nerve wracking and on one of them I forgot to introduce itself lol.

Hey! The last question on my secondary application ("Please describe a time when you faced a problem that had no single right answer. How did you approach your solution?") does not have a character limit. Is this happening to anyone else? All of my other questions have a 1,000 character limit.
It's the same way for me. I kind of want to utilize it, since 1000 characters is SO limiting. But Cooper's my first choice, so I also don't want to shoot myself in the foot by being a rule-breaker. Dilemmas.

...think I could use this as the prompt's situation to having "no right answer"

As an in-stater this is not the most appealing choice out of the three Jersey med schools, but its really hard to dispute those secondary to interview to acceptance percentages...

I'm in-state too, but it's my first choice of the three...depends what you're looking for. Cooper's got newer facilities and a small class size, and I prefer Philly to NY, and have tons of family in the area (not Camden, but around it--Cherry Hill, Haddon Heights, Barrington).

Hope we both get accepted where we want :xf::xf::xf: Yay New Jersey.

It's under Rowan university!

Hey y'all, after looking at the spreadsheet and MSAR, I'm pretty sure that the "Rowan University" they have listed is Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, and not Cooper. The numbers in the spreadsheet don't line up at all with the numbers in the MSAR. Just didn't want anyone to get their hopes up with the higher numbers for Rowan SOM!

I haven't gotten a secondary yet e-mail. I got an email from them on 7/21 saying they've received everything and that they send secondaries on a rolling basis/not to everyone. I'm OOS but was born in NJ and nearly my entire family is in the tri-state area so really hoping I get one. Suspect OOS generally gets them a little later.

That is very misleading! Thanks for that. Any idea where the real numbers may be? We can hit up the op from the Reddit forum

Did anyone else's headshot look blurrier once it was uploaded?

Hey, I actually used 1054 characters for the last question which was not character limited and got an II a few days ago. It was alright in my case!

@laferrari Seemed fine for me. Maybe make sure it was not too large? Mine was 16.5kb, with 261 x 308 pixel length.
They ask for a head shot?

They ask for a photo after you receive an II, at least for me. (Maybe later secondaries might require initially while submitting secondary...I submitted mine 7/27.)

Its not really blurry but its the as high quality as it was on my phone probably just distorted to fit the website's requirements still can see my face so I guess its fine. Its just for identifying during the interview I believe

Thank you so much!

Just submitted my secondary. Is there a way, like emailing admissions, to update about current activities. Did not see instructions or is this not advised.

I read on other threads about Cooper that they do not accept updates, not sure if that is still true for this year tho

I was verified on 6/29, if I haven't gotten the secondary by now should I assume I will not get one?
